"I was thinking about them recently, but I don't know if they are for me. At least not just yet." Jester was worried that he wasn't enough of a bard to warrant them just yet, but he'd never say that out loud.
"I think you'll look lovely with the blue Twilla. Will Auze be getting color as well?" Jester asked as he glanced to the Mus on his haunches between them. "I think he'd look very handsome with some tips."
Jester relaxed a bit more into the swaying of the willow tree.

Not ready for bells... Twilla's sympathetic smile was masked inside, instead she showed him a real smile. She wanted him to try, even if others didn't deem his singing top notch. Maybe she would be able to talk him into taking lessons from somesentinel at the theatre.
Twilla shifted slightly on the swaying branch and glanced towards her companion. "Yeah... We've discussed it. He wants marks, too... It might help to keep him from being mistaken for food..." She didn't linger on that for long, though, to avoid embarrassing Jester. It really was something the pair had been discussing, as Twilla kept her mus's oppinions in high esteem. He was her helper and was a brave little trooper, albeit fiesty and snippish.
"I've been wanting a second helper, too... I've been thinking alcyon, but he will have nothing to do with them. He wants a skurri, which I suppose would be more useful for a gatherer."

"I think that a skurri would be a wonderful helper for the both of you." Jester paused a moment, then asked, "What exactly is an alcyon?" He had never come across one.
Jester wondered how forward it would be for him to find get skurri for Twilla, to help her gather. As having a few more eyes and a few more hands seemed to him that the gatherer would appreciate that.
As his mind is prone to do it wandered to the thought of his bells. He did want them very badly, they were the mark of his trade. Others wouldn't be able to look down on his ability, and recognize him as a bard. A quick sneeze from Auze brought him back to the moment.
"So...have you found any good spots for truffles recently?" Jester couldn't help himself, they were delicious! And he had her and their friend Falchior to thank for his new found love of the fungi.

"Well, two against one. A skurri, I suppose. One would be most helpful. " She chuckled. "Never seen one? An alcyon, I mean? They are a little more uncommon, so it doesn't surprise me too much. They're beautiful fishing birds... I guess they would be more useful for hunters, but I just imagine watching them fish out here... I've seen them before, mostly from being so close to the water." She trailed off for a moment and turned her blue eyes to the water. She watched the swift waters, then, with a sigh, turned back to face her friend.
It was a sigh of content.
"Oh, the truffles? Not many, mostly just the batch that Falchior's waral sniffed out. With perserverence, though, we'll find more. Won't we, Auze?"
"Ach, aye, aye, us find more." The little gray mus agreed quietly.

The rushing water had Twilla mesmerized. Jester was mesmerized by Twilla, accompanied by the wound of the water. Side stepping on the branch ever so softly trying to get a bit closer to her,not really understanding why.
"Have you ever flown over the water?" Jester asked, nonchalantly. Not that he'd ever been but he fancied trying it someday. Perhaps someday was now.

Her dark feathers flattened against her form and her eartufts rose.
"Flew over it? Good Noctus, no! It is in the open!" She replied. While she would brave the floors of the forest, she feared the Above and didn't dare cross the river, not yet. Though she did long to be nearer to the waters and she did want to explore the forest beyond the swift river, she never could muster up the courage to swim across that open strip of airspace. "I would like to, y'know, and t'see the other side... But it's very dangerous. Who knows what is in and beyond the waters."
She found herself drawn to him and turned her eyes to meet his.

Jester gulped audibly when her eyes met his. With the same interest he looked at her. "Maybe...maybe..we could find a place to explore that isn't across the water." He did love finding new places, he would write silly songs about them.
The way Twilla looked at Jester made him want to crow. He didn't know why, but he wanted to sing to her. He started to open his mouth, but nothing came out.

"An adventure? It would be fun! I could bring my pack, in case we find anything tasty." Her eartufts rose as she replied. It was possible that they could enjoy an exploration and provide the clan with service along the way.
She tilted her head as he opened his beak, but no words came. "You wanna go?" She asked eagerly.

All Jester could do was nod vigorously. Snapping his beak shut, realizing he had opened it as if to sing."Where would you like to explore first?" he asked excitedly. He had been a bit south of his tree and more west, but he had never really gone east.
The though of delicious truffles filled his mind,"Oh yes we could look for tasty things along the way!" Puffing his feathers a bit ready to take flight. "Yes lets go! Auze would you like to fly with me?" Jester had never had a passenger before, and was wondering what it would be like.

"What abouuuuuut... East?" She lived in Deep Woods, near the far southeast corner, just next to the river. She hadn't gone into the forest to the east very often. The fact that she was venturing somewhat further than normal did not bother her too much, if she had someone she trusted go with her. It was a gatherer's job to search for food and to feed the clan, so she would do just that. The company of Jester could help her, even if he did not want to go to the Ground. He could watch for danger from above.
While she hadn't known Jester long, she found him to be an extremely likeable fellow.
Auze was about to snap at the sentinel, Twilla could tell as the mus opened his mouth. His fur was bristling and he had that look in his eyes. It was a look that suggested disagreement. It was a look that he had when they were bickering, which was often. Before the words left his mouth, she gave him a light flick with her talon, using the dull surface of the top, so not to cause him harm.
"Ow! Oi?" He glared at her and rubbed the back of his head. "Fine, fine, jest dun' droppa meh!" The mus insisted and scrambled up Jester's back.

Jester beamed, he had gained the trust of both Twilla and Auze. He stood still while Auze scrambled up and found footing in his feathers. Wincing a bit as he never had a pull on them before. "Alright East it is!" Jester spread his wings.
He enjoyed being around both of them, he hadn't ever had someone else to talk to. Wiggling his tail feathers read to lean forward off the branch, he glanced to Twilla once more. Blushing slightly, "Hold on Auze!" he cried excitedly as he leaned forward and took to the air.

The little gray mus clamped his paws the best he could about Jester's feathers. He nestled between the shoulder blades of his wings and settled in for the flight. He was anxious, but could not ease himself with grooming. He had never flown on another sentinel before, only his Twilla.
Twilla disappeared into the gap in the tree that served as her lodgings. She reappeared moments later with her dark pack strapped firmly onto her back. Just in case they did find some delicious eats to bring back. She launched after Jester with ease. She had much experience when it came to flying with her pack and a mus on her back. She flew alongside him; her wing beats were silent as most all sentinels were.
She wanted to speak, but seemed to be at a loss for words. "Been fairing well since the last gathering trip?" She asked, trying for idle chitchat. She never liked silence.

It took Jester a few flaps and one circle around a tree to get a feeling for having the little Mus holding on for dear life between his wings. Once he settled, he could feel Auze settle a bit as well. "I've been quite well. I trust you've been the same?" he flicked his tail feathers ever so slightly to better catch the wind.
Looping around a tree once as they headed towards nowhere in particular. "Do you like to fly to new places often?" Jester questioned gently. He always loved finding out about places, but he'd never actually gone exploring, it wasn't part of his profession.

"I have been." She agreed cheerfully. As always, she had to talk. Silence was embarrassing to her, for some odd reason or another.
"I do enjoy it... But there are always the favorite old haunts, where good bounty is always to be found. Perhaps we shall find something tastey for ourselves, too?" She winged silently along beside Jester, then surged forward, as if to challenge him to speed up.
"Maybe we will find some dilectible truffles, or some delightful berries."

Jester flapped once more to keep up with the increasing speed of Twilla. He grinned slightly as he did so. "I do hope we find delicious things!" Jester licked his beak slightly thinking about the truffles. And the thought of berries was just to much, he flicked his tail a bit and flapped a bit higher, flying to the other side of Twilla.
"Are you alright back there Auze?" he asked gently worried the little Mus would be frightened. He had nearly forgotten that he had a passenger, except for the slight pull now and again as Jester sped up some or dipped some.
