Nuala That's one heck of an adolescent growth spurt Sonic's had - he's now taller than me! I wonder if someone'll bother trying to come up with a canon explanation for that... You and me both. xD
And yes, the running on walls should be interesting.

Definitely was pleased to hear the return of adventure fields...See, Sonic Team; haven't things not been so hot since their departure? razz
I'm just hoping this new hedgie villain/anti-hero isn't just a Shadow knock-off. The whole supernatural power aspect mentioned in the article should be interesting, indeed, though...
I'm a bit skeptical about the whole growth-spurt thing, though, and I wonder if maybe IGN wasn't exaggerating that fact (they DID say Sonic looked like some guy in a suit now, after all...can we get these guys some glasses?). I mean, if it's true, more power to 'em...I'm just having a hard time imagining a human-sized Sonic. : p

It seems Shadow's going to be added into the mix as well.

Just posted that to the Rivals thread. Methinks we're both trawling the same LJ community at roughly the same time. wink

Hm, so the new guy is appearing in Rivals as well? Well, guess it's better than using him (it is a guy, right?) once and then forgetting about him after that.
For some reason, I have a feeling he's going to be Shadow's "light" counterpart (please don't just name him "Light", Sonic Team : p). Hopefully he'll be more than that, and add a bit more to the Sonic mythos...

Haha, yes we probably are. xd
@ Sea-Salt: Yeah, at least that's what I keep hearing. I hope he has a bit more personality then being just a light Shadow, but only time will tell. Hopefully we'll be learning more with E3 coming around the bend.

Sonic's been eating his veggies. Since Light is the opposite of dark, they can't call the new guy light anyways. how about something like bolt?

Oh gosh. I saw the new trailer.
Dr. Eggman got slimmer.
He's thin now.
Oh God. I need that game.

AaronTheGreat Sonic's been eating his veggies. Since Light is the opposite of dark, they can't call the new guy light anyways. how about something like bolt? Well, I figured "light" was opposite of "shadow" as well, so that's where that idea came up...And "Bolt" isn't all that original, either. : P My guess, seeing as how this guy's supposed to have supernatural powers, would be something dealing with ghosts or something...Phantom, perhaps? Generic, but a bit catchier. .........WHAT?! A skinny Eggman?! Heresy, I tells ya, HERESY!!! *grabs his torch and pitchfork and dives into the Pacific*

*looks at the new Eggman* G-gack!!! eek
What have they DONE to him?! sad
Well, okay, I guess he doesn't look bad per se, but I just can't imagine a skinny Eggman. It's just... so weird.
I'm still really excited about this game though. The Iblis Trigger stuff sounds interesting, and I think that maybe they'll finally get the gameplay right in this one.

*sings* It's the end of the world, as we know it.....
I still can't get over that fact...I suppose it could be a way of making his character more serious. Perhaps a less-comical Eggman than we're used to?
I mean, he looks eerily like Gerald now. I wonder if it's intentional, as if to show some strange maturation....
Anyway, at least the fantasy aspect is really intriguing. I can't say I've been this excited over a Sonic game since Adventure.

StH news/footage:http://www.xboxyde.com/news_2888_en.htmlhttp://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/action/sonicthehedgehog/media.htmlhttp://www.sega.com/e3/2006/announcements_tp.php?item=pr_20060509aMORE forgetting that Shadow can outrun and outfight any stoopid military vehicle and has no reason to use one for a demolition derby! (Gameplay-wise, the whole thing's reminding me of the Shadow engine, in fact. scream ) Silver, eh? Is that a working title, I wonder? Loving the design detail of the Princess and Eggman, though - Eggy especially looks so much more of a credible villain, rather than pure comedy... In fact, there seems to be a definite mythology being built up, from the number of locations and characters we're being introduced to here (I'm actually being put in mind of the Sonic: the Movie OAV) - if Sonic's finally getting a deep, codified universe, I hope they can keep it consistent after the debacle that was Shadow. I do not, however, have to like the odds. stare
