Darkside listened to Dragoon's reply, head tilting slightly by the end. What precisely had been asked and perhaps not answered? He stretched his forelegs forward a bit more, allowing himself to relax slightly and waiting for things to be made clear... or not. All he really picked up from Pearl to clue him into what she was wondering about confusion and uncertainty. Yes, he could read what the heart was feeling; but that didn't always tell him why it was feeling what it did.

((That is assuming Pearl kept her question private for Dragoon like she'd originally intended... so... I HOPE I DIDN'T GET IT WRONG. o.o))

[You're fine, Hai. Pearl kept it private, yus. 8D]

So maybe a Nobody wasn't the best of..."people" to ask about friendship. But Darkside had to know of the two of the Nobodies. Or else how can he say he would be Pearl's friend? That would be the same as Pearl trying to nagivate anywhere with just her eyes. It would be reckless and stupid, perhaps even misleading of him to say so. It's ok...It's not...your fault. She assured the lighter colored Nobody. Pearl didn't jump into the question expecting much out of it, either. She wanted to know rather badly now. Her curiosity was always at peak, and now it was spilling over the rims.

It would be best to just ask him directly. Yes, it would make lots of sense. Just like at school asking the teacher to explain something is only natural. Still...she felt uncertain about this. It seemed like such a stupid question to ask. Plus it wasn't as if it could be a straight answer. This wasn't math here. Everyone's take on friendship is different. Friends to different people mean different things. How could she be sure this was what friendship meant to her? Asking him would only give her a base to work off of, but that's not what she wanted. For the first time she wanted a straight answer. Life was filled with too many uncertainties, and she was swimming in uncertainty for a while after the incident with Nemesis.

The usually uncertain heart wanted something certain. She wanted a solid answer. What is...the meaning...of "friend"? Her inner voice projected towards the shadowy Nobody. Though it projected towards the other one as well, not to ask her, but to let her know she was asking her "friend" of that.

Dragoon felt a bit better when Pearl said it was ok, but still felt stupid for not knowing. Fighting had been her life, but that part was over and she wanted to start anew. "Thank you," she said to Pearl, when Pearl assured Dragoon. Listening to what Pearl had said and was listen entently as she wanted to know as well, as she didn't know too much about feelings.

Darkside's expression rarely shifted from a state of passive blankness, but in this instance it did grow at least a bit more thoughful. What was the meaning of "friend"? A very good question. And not one easily answered. -Some people pass on the title of friend easily, without much thought. For others, to claim someone else as a friend is a rare gift. But a few things remain the same... for true friends. A "good" friend, I guess you might say.-

-A good friend will tell you when you make a mistake, but stand by you none the less. A good friend will try to help you when you have a problem, even if all they can do is be supportive and try to cheer you up. A good friend will fight for you when you can't fight for yourself, but also will let you fight your own battles when you need to. A good friend is someone you can teach, someone you can learn from, and someone you can learn
with. And a good friend is willing to help you accomplish things... whether it be changing a furniture arrangement or trying to change the world. And friends are fallable; sometimes they make mistakes, and sometimes they might get upset with you. But a good friend will try to work those things out.-

He lowered his head as if he were going to peek under the tablecloth at her, but lay it on his paws instead. Better to give her a moment to think that over without pressuring her. -I hope that helps you, little Pearl. "Friend" is a hard thing to describe, but those things I have found to hold true.-

Her expression shifted to that of a thoughtful one as well. This whole concept of friends seemed rather complex. It seemed like lots of work and effort! Maybe a bit even scary, or overwhelming. Was there a difference between a "good" and "true" friend? Maybe there was more to it to "true" friends rather than "good" friends. But "good" friends already sounds really hard to accomplish, if not even harder to maintain on her part. It seemed more confusing than not knowing what friends really were. So much to absorb and understand! It was like opening an encyclopedia and trying to learn all the information in one section of the alphabet alone, and all at once.

But then, from his words it seemed like Darkside was really her friend. Granted she hadn't tried to move any furniture around, he still fit into many of the categories he spoke of. Being supportive of her when she was frightened and felt alone, he practically held her hand through that process even if only metaphorically. She learned many things from him in the past and still continued learning from him even now. A lot of the things he just spoke of he did for her.

Did she return those things he spoke of, though? She hadn't really done much for him at all, in all honestly. In fact he was the one doing everything, helping her through everything in life so far. All she did so far was continually rely on him. That wasn't what being a friend is, right? At these thoughts, she felt a little saddened she didn't quite return these same qualities. Then...does that mean...I'm not your...friend? her "voice" choked at the thought when she asked.

Darkside was silent for a moment as he tilted his head. Then he lifted it and nosed at the tablecloth. -You are the first friend I've had, little Pearl. You are teaching me to be a friend. And you help me to not be... alone. And to be more than I was on my own. I have not yet had a problem here to need help with... so I have not needed you to really do anything for me. And alas... I have no furniture to be moved.- That last was in its own way both playful and genuine... he had no place of his own, so he had no real need to collect possessions. Aside from his pendant... he owned nothing. -So I would say, yes, little Pearl, you are my friend. I have simply had more opportunity to do things for you than you have for me. A willing heart is just as important as the action, if not more so.-

Dragoon thought over on what Darkside had said. Scratching her head as she thought, then she remembered the first Kitsu she had met. Eru had been very kind to her even tho she had wanted really badly to take orders from her. Eru had showed her the start that there is more to life then takeing orders and so far she found things that she like doing, like eating good fruit and meeting new people. So in what he said that Eru was a friend event tho she had never said it. Well then I will have to do something for Eru for helping, as now she is my friend, Dragoon thought. She was still listening to the others but didn't want to intrude while they were talking. So she would wait until she was included but was happy about what she had learned, as she felt she knew what 'friends' were but it wasn't until Darkside deescriped it that her mind clicked the feelings with the word.

Her face immediately lit up at the thought. So she was his friend? That was a good thing to hear! And here she thought she wasn't his friend. She thought it might've been one sided, which might've proved rather depressing on her part. Ok...but if you have furniture you need to move...just call me...okay? She smiled softly at the thought. Of course, she was fairly serious about it, not really understanding his joke. Either way, she wanted to be of some use to Darkside eventually. Not just sit there in silence staring at him idly.

Curiously, she glanced in the general direction of the other Nobody. What does that make...Dragoon, then? She had only just met Dragoon. The other hadn't really done much for her, and surely not nearly as much as Darkside had. But they had just met, so there was no chance for her to do much for Pearl. Did that mean they weren't friends?

Darkside shifted his gaze to Dragoon. -An acquaintance. Since you just met. But an acquaintance can become a friend, if you so choose. After all, one thing friends often help one another accomplish is simple interaction. To be a companion, whether for conversation or some form of activity, whatever suits more at the time. But that a decision for the two of you to make.-

She thought for a second about what Pearl had said and then to what Darkside said and it made perfect sence to what he had said. "It makes sence to me, I hope some time soon we can become friends, Pearl." she said and then turned to Darkside. "I know that you already heard my name already, but its nice to meet you and I'm Dragoon..." she said to him but then interuped by her own tummy telling the whole world that it wanted food now and she blushed at what it had done. "Since my stomich as announced what it wants. Is there anything that I can get eather of you while I'm in the kitchen?" Dragoon asked sheeply as she stood up.

Her head tilted to the side with thoughts running through her mind. Aquaintance? It seemed less work than friendship...but she wanted more friends. Friends seemed like a nice thing to have. Like delicious fruits! The more the better. I want to be...you friend...too! She beamed with excitment at the thought.

Kitchen? Oh, maybe she can make a sandwich for this Dragoon! The type of sandwich Darkside showed her how to make. Sandwiches were delicious. Maybe...I can teach you...how to make a sandwich? Her head peeked out from under the table slightly, her lightly colored tails waving from side to side. Though, she sort of wanted one for herself as well.

Dragoon beamed with excitment at what Pearl had said. Floating off the floor somewhat and did a mid air flip of joy, this was something new she was feeling and she liked it.

Still floating a little closer to the floor and she saw Pearl for the first time and she was very beautiful and Dragoon was excited to have Pearl being her friend. "Could you, teach me. I had a sandwich one and I loved it but I did learn how to make one," she repled with a huge smile on her face. Friendship was way better than takeing orders from others she thought.

Darkside's mouth twitched at the corners, about as close as he ever came to a smile. -I am not hungry, so I believe I will wait here. Call if you need me, little Pearl.- He then stretched and rolled onto his side to relax for a few minutes while the girls did... whatever they wanted, really.

She felt a little uneasy about leaving Darkside there, not because he would get lonely or anything, but because there was still hints of fear lingering inside her. Such an event could not be so easily forgotten. What if something happened on the way to the kitchen? Would he be able to make it there fast enough? Pearl was hesitant about leaving his side so soon. Even when he went outside for a short walk, she felt uncomfortable alone there under the table. She didn't enjoy being alone, as it was a very scary concept. A lot of bad things can happen when she was alone.

Though she was not truly alone, since Dragoon would be acompanying her, it wouldn't be the same. Dragoon doesn't know her. She might not try and protect her the same way Darkside does. But she didn't blame the other, as this was only their first meeting. In all honestly, she needed Darkside there with her every step along the way. He was her comfort zone. When she was with him she knew she could feel safe.

Are you sure...you don't want a sandwich? She asked softly, though she did her best not to crack her voice. She was clingy, needy and co-dependant upon others. She simply needed others. Especially after that incident with the Nightmare, she was more dependant than before.

Dragoon waited until Pearl was ready to go. She wasn't going to push as she wanted to be kind to her new friend. But her her mind she would protect her and Darkside in a heart beat if need be. Still floating she sat down to wait and thought about the other she met.
