April 7th, 2004~I couldn't take my bloom to school with me... carting a goblet and flower around on the bus isn't really a good idea, and I doubt my professors would stand for it. o_O So I left it at home in the shade again with Kree. It seemed to be okay when I got back, so that was a good thing. ^^ When I came home Kree was sleeping right next to the goblet. Shi seems quite devoted to it already! I did some research today. At first I thought the bloom reminded me most of an orchid, but now I think it's a bit like an iris. Irises are my favorite flower, but I see them open most often... this one looks more like a closed up iris in a way, which is why it took me a while to associate them. ^^ But a bit of searching found some pictures that remind me a lot of my flower: And here is a nursery that grows very similar icy-blue irises. These are a lot like my little Feien bloom! It's pretty neat that my favorite flowers seem the most similar to my bloom.

April 8th, 2004~
Yesterday I made my first trip to Feien HQ! I met several of the Feien there, and they're really something to see! So tiny... I was afraid I might accidentally squash one or something.
My blossom and I got to meet Seamus, Tosten, Sunil, and Ares. They seemed interested by the cold, cold ice. The bloom seemed... um... well, okay with it, I suppose. I think Sunil took offense at the ice being cold though, and interpreted it as the flower not liking her. Oh dear.
Today I have night classes, so the flower will be staying home again - it's just not safe to take it on public transportation, and I know my professors would not be pleased with a glass of frozen liquid in the computer labs! Kree will watch over it as always, I know. Shi's quite the faithful guardian to it now.

Oh dear, I missed a day...
Kree grew up! Shi's a bit bigger than shi was before, now able to look into the goblet without standing on anything. Shi's pleased about this because shi can keep closer watch on the flower now! Shi is also practicing flying off of the dresser where the flower is right now.
Today I think I will buy some things for my Feien. I'm thinking about some blue and silver glitter - icy colors - and a blue 'sword'. I always loved those little cocktail glass toys, and I think it'd be great if my Feien learned to use the sword.

April 11th, 2004~
o_o Oh my goodness! My blossom....
*the page scrawls off here, as if the first message was written in a great hurry*
*a few lines down the page, the writing resumes, in a slightly different color ink*
My blossom... she emerged! My Feien!
It... well, it rather startled me, actually. I had the goblet and blossom on the shelf right next to my desk, busily working away on yet another school project, when suddenly I heard a CRASH! I jumped, and looked. The blossom had fallen off of the shelf! o_o Or so I thought...
I picked up the goblet and the blossom fell out of the ice, which was broken, with hairline cracks everywhere. Bits of ice fell out onto the carpet, and I realized the petals of the bloom were pulled back like an empty banana skin.
That was when she hit me, right in the back of the head. "HEY! Hey, you! Are you really a hyoooooooman?"
Scared the living daylights out of me! She was hanging onto my hair, and I couldn't see her, and I was scared if I reached back for her I might hurt her with my fumbling, so I MADE myself calm down and sit down. "Um... yes, I am."
"Are you SURE?" Little cold hands climbed up my scalp, then I felt little feet, and... she peeered down over my forehead like it was a cliff, so I got my first glimpse of her upside-down, hair hanging over her face.
It startled me. "Eeeek!" She blinked and pulled back, then I felt her feet push against my scalp and she was suddenly in front of me, little wings buzzing like a hummingbird's, one hand on her hip.
"You're big enough to be a hyoooman," she chirped, and shook her head so that her hair fell back into place. I saw her little unicorn horn then, and managed to unfreeze myself enough that I could hold up one palm to her.
"Hello, I'm Sosiqui... I've been taking care of you all this time."
"Oh, I know THAT, silly," she said, giggling. "That's easy knowing." She landed on my palm, the soles of her feet still chilly from the ice. She walked up it to my wrist, then knelt down and pressed her tiny ear to my pulsebeat. "Heart sounds..."
Then she POKED me. With her horn. And drew blood! It was all I could do not to jerk back in a reflex action that probably would have thrown her off my hand. She dipped one tiny finger into the blood drop and tasted it. o_O "Yep. Must be hyooman after all." She looked up at me. "Okay, Sosi-hyooman. Can I have some ice, please? It's hot in here."
"Um, um, sure, okay..." I babbled, still a bit overcome, and went and got a teacup, dropping ice cubes in. I was about to add some water when she stopped me.
"That's good, just put it down, okay?" I did so, and she slipped into it as if it were a jacuzzi, and leaned back with a sigh of pleasure. "Ahhh..."
... And so I met Amalthea.
What an interesting little girl.

"I want that. And that. And that." Amalthea pointed rapid-fire at everything in the window of the Feien shop, then moved on before I could even blink! I held out one hand in front of her to keep her from flying away, and she whirled on me. "Wha~at?"
"Slow down, and tell me EXACTLY what you want." I said patiently, smiling at her. "I'm happy to get you what you want, okay? But you have to slow down."
"Okay, okay," she sighed, and sat down cross-legged on my hand. "That." She pointed at the sparkling jar of magic dust , and the pile of genuine silver glitter. "Those are shiny, and I want them."
"You want them, please, remember?"
She rolled her eyes and scootched so that she was sitting on the edge of my hand, her legs kicking off the side. "I want them please."
"Okay, what else?"
"That," she continued, pointing at the jar of magic gems. "And... ooh! Is that a sword?"She flitted off my hand, moving quick as could be, and practically smushed herself against the window ogling the cocktail rapiers. "I want one of those! Be a brave warrior of the sword! Hah! Yaa!" She flitted down to teh sidewalk and picked up a pine needle, swishing it around as if fencing... badly.
"Alright, we can do that... but you can't poke me with it. Or Kree."
"Fine, fine," Amal giggled, returning to my hand. "And... that," she decided, pointing at one of the gum wads. "I can slice it up with my sword. Good practice?"
"Yeah, if you must cut something, that'd be a good one," I agreed. "You can put it back together after you slice it and keep trying as long as you want."
She clapped her hands. "Yay yay yay!"
"And... I'll get you a plastic chest, to hold all that." I grinned as she squealed over the little chests, and picked out the grey one. "Okay, happy?"
"Ye~es!" she said, kicking her legs back and forth, then jumping off my hand only to flit up to my head. She was pretty darn good at flying... "And one other thingie, Sosi-hyooman?"
"What's that?"
"Do they got books on magic in there? I feel the magic all around, all tingly..." She twirled around on my scalp; I could see her reflection in the shop window and feel her feet twisting tangles in my hair. "I think it's magic, anyway, and I want to use it! I feel it when I fly, it tickles."
"I'll ask Rik," I promised. "For sure. Now let's go home and I'll make the order, okay?"
"Yep yep," Amal agreed amicably, staying on my head but sitting down. I smiled. It was good getting to know her.
We were going to get along great.
So, I've set aside these first few days, I think, for bonding with my little Amalthea. Once we know each other well... then we shall meet the other Feien. I hope she can make friends.
And yes, I do need to get her a magic book or some kind of instruction... hmm.

April 12th, 2004~ (technically the 13th, but eh)
Amalthea grumped her way over my pillow. "Can't sleep," she frumped, hopping up onto my forehead and aiming an ill-placed kick at my nose. It missed.
"Hey now." I reached for her and managed to get her into my palm before sitting up in bed, and switching on the light. "What's going on?"
"Can't sleep," she insisted, flitting an inch into the air and kicking her feet at me. "All the magic is tickly tickly tickly. And it's hot." Her face did look a little flushed, and I frowned. I liked a good cozy bed... but she obviously didn't. I'd put her to bed on my nightstand, in a nest of softest tissues, but here she was, awake as could be and taking me with her. "Fix it. Please," she added, as I opened my mouth.
"Alrighty..." I got out of bed and went into the kitchen, yawning, with Amal darting around in front of me, flitting from side to side like a nervous hummingbird.
"Doesn't tickle so bad when I flitflitflit," she explained, then sighed happily as I opened the freezer and the cold air came out. "Feels good, I go in there..."
"NO! Um, no you can't!" I closed the door quickly before she could zip inside, and she turned around and frowned at me.
"Why NOT?" This time, she actually did kick my nose. It didn't hurt or anything, but...
"Because," I said patiently, rolling my eyes, "there's no air in there. You'll suffocate. And don't kick me."
"... oh," she said, then eyed the door skeptically. "Are you SURE?"
"I'm not going to let you test it. If you run out of air, you DIE."
"Are you su-"
"YES."
"... you don't have to get all hissy about it," she grumbled, and sat on my head.
"Sorry. It's late and I'm tired." I apologized. "I'll make you a bed that you might like better... want to pick out a cup?"
"Ooh, cup." She stood up on my head as I opened the cabinet door, then she lightly hopped from my head to the wooden shelf. I watched her prowl among the cups, most of them taller than she was. "This one," she decided, finally, tapping the side of a fancy teacup, one that was smaller sized out of elegance and made of bone china with blue swirls on the side.
"Like the good stuff, huh?" I said as I reached in for the cup. She hopped into it as I picked it up.
"It's pretty, and it makes a nice sound when I touch it." She ran her hand along the edge of the cup, listnening to the soft chiming sound that really good china or fine crystal makes when touched gently. "My colors, too."
"Okay, this will be your bed," I said. I opened the freezer - to Amal's delight - and got some ice out. She hopped out of the cup for a moment so I could put the ice in, then snuggled down among the cubes with a sigh of pure bliss.
"It doesn't tickle so bad in here, not at all... and it's so niiice..." she said happily, nestling in and hanging her arms over the sides. "I can sleep in this..."
"Glad to hear it," I yawned, and carried the cup back to my bed, where I put it back on the nightstand. "Want a tissue blanket?"
"Nawww... this is good," Amalthea said with a tiny yawn. I could see her eyelids drooping, and my own eyes desperately wanted to follow suit.
"Good, good... good night, Amalthea. Sweet dreams, don't let the bedbugs bite."
"Bugs?! Where?"
"... it's just a saying. Good night, Amal."
"G'night, Sosihyooman."

April 14th, 2004~
"It's not here yet. Are you SUUUUUUUURE it worked?" Amalthea groused, flitting from the windowsill to my head, rapping on my scalp with one tiny fist.
I reached up and she hopped onto my hand, but kept shifting back and forth and stomping her feet as I lowered her to eye level. "Yes, I'm sure Rik got my note. He's a busy fellow, you know, and two new Feien blooms were fostered out last night. You'll get your stuff eventually."
"I want it now," Amal grumbled, flitting up to sit on my computer monitor. "Want to fight. Want to learn magic..."
"I don't know how to teach you," I said with a sigh. "We're going to have to ask someone."
"Do it soon?" Amal begged, wriggling all over. "It ITCHES sometimes. Except not when I'm in bed."
I nodded. "Here, let me make you something. Kind of like a... chair. A beanbag chair of sorts." I stood up and got a small ziplock bag, then filled it with ice.
Amal zoomed around. "What are you doing? How does the ice come out of there?" she asked, prodding the fridge's ice maker with one foot.
"I'll explain it sometime," I said with a shake of my head, and sealed the bag. I plopped it down on my desk. "There. You can lounge on that, and it should help the itch?"
Amal threw herself down on the icebag chair with a little squeak, then let out a long breath. "Oooh... I like that. I like that a lot..."
"Glad to hear it."

April 14th, 2004~
I came home with the bag in my arms, and in that instant Amalthea swarmed all over me - how she managed to swarm with only one of her, I'll never know, but she did - and began tugging at it with great energy. "What's in it? What's in it? Give it to meeee~!"
"Hang on, hang on," I laughed, carrying the bag to the table as she zoomed around. I put it down and she landed next to it immediately, shifting back and forth and fluttering her wings.
"Is it for me? My stuff? Let me see!" She bent her head down and used her horn to rip through the plastic in one swift movement, then was INSIDE the bag before I could blink! "Oooh!"
"Amal, get out of there!" I yelped, opening the bag. "You could suffocate!"
"Suffowhat?" She hopped onto my nose and flitted up to my head. I sighed and sat up straight.
"Suffocate. It means... you'd run out of air. And then you'd die."
"Are you suuuure?"
"... Yes."
"Let me see what's inside? Pleeeease?" Amal put her hands on my forehead and leaned over, trying to see.
"Okay. No, it's not the stuff we ordered, but it's better..." I pulled the book out of the bag, and she immediately jumped off my head to hover over the cover.
"S-p-el.. spell!" Her wings began vibrating quicker. "Spells! Is it a magic book?!" She grabbed the edge of the cover in tiny hands and tried to tug it open, but it was too heavy.
I laughed. "Yes, yes, it is a spell book, from the main shop." I opened the cover, and we found the ice spells page together...
"WHAT?!" Her indignant shriek rang through the whole room, MUCH louder than lungs that small should have been capable of. "The ice page is BLANK?!?!"
She stomped off and threw herself into the cup of ice (which still hasn't melted o_O) with a petulant, complaining sound. I sighed and rubbed my head.
Looks like... well, life's not going to be all sunshine and light. Then again, is it ever?

April 19th, 2004~
Ugh... it's been a while since I was able to write in this diary, indeed... I got sick. A cold.
That took some explaining...
(flashback mode)
I blew my nose for the dozenth time, and Amalthea finally decided she'd had enough. "Stooooop snotting up my blankets!" she demanded, grabbing the edge of the tissue and tugging hard.
I blinked at her. "What are you talking about? These are meant for, um, snotting up, as you so delicately put it..."
"But but but... my BLANKETS!" She threw herself on top of the tissue box, as if protecting them.
"They're my tissues first. Anyway, there's tons of them." I brushed her aside and reached for the next one, much to her annoyance....
(end flashback)
Yes, and then there was explaining to her what a cold was.
(flashback)
"Cold is GOOD!"
"... not this kind..."
"Nooo, it IS!" she insisted, picking up a small piece of ice from her 'bed' and tossing it at me. It hit me in the nose. x_x
"No. This is made by... like.. tiny bugs inside..."
"TINY BUGS?!" She looked horrified, and chucked another piece of ice at me, in alarm! "Get them away!!"
"... sigh..."
(end flashback)
Yep. But, well... once we got over that... and the chicken soup fiasco...
(flashback)
"AIEEE! That's too hot! GET IT AWAY!" Amalthea divebombed the chicken soup cup, her wings seeming to wilt as she zipped through the steam.
"That's the POINT," I insisted muzzily, reaching for it with my spoon.
"Nononono! It's melty! OFF!" She flew into the side of the cup with a mighty shove - well, for a Feien...
(end flashback)
Do you know how annoying it is to pick noodles out of deep-pile carpet?
Oh well. Am on the mend now, and am eating ice cream for a sore throat treatment. Unsurprisingly, Amal loves it. She keeps pestering me for bites, and snagging little bits of it when she thinks I'm not looking.
All in all, I think we'll both live.

April 23rd, 2004~
I woke up to a Feien dancing on my eyelids. "ITCAMEITCAMEITCAME!!" Amalthea shrieked as she hopped around, using her wings to give her jumps extra height.
I opened my eyes and immediately got one stepped on. o_< "Amal! Knock it off, I can't get up if I can't SEE!"
"Eeek!" I heard her wings buzz as if she was hovering, so I opened my eyes slowly and she was...
ABOUT AN INCH FROM MY EYE. "YAUGH!"
"YEEEEK!"
....
I sat up, and we stared at each other for a few seconds. O_O Finally Amalthea landed on my bedcovers and looked sheepish. "Didin't mean to scare you," she mumbled, kicking at one of the flowers printed on the spread.
I sighed. "It's okay... just keep in mind that eyes are sensitive... please?"
She nodded quickly. "Comeseecomeseeitcame!" she said, all packed into one word, hopping off the bed, her wings buzzing madly.
I got up and followed her over to the windowsill, and smiled. No wonder she was so excited. "Lookiiiiit!" she giggled, showing off the things that had come from the store. She swished the sword excitedly through the air, filled her hands with glitterdust, pushed the soft gum into interesting shapes, and held the magic gem up to a sunbeam to see the light split into pieces. "Isn't it cooooool?"
"Yes, very," I smiled, and yawned. "C'mon, let's get breakfast and then we can get going for the day, okay?"
"Ice cream! Ice cream!" she squealed, buzzing around my head, holding the sword.
"... Amal, you're not trying to threaten me with that are you? Remember your promise..."
She pouted. "Am not. Just like it, it's my favorite thing ever!" She swished the sword through the air again, but deliberately made sure it was away from me.
"Anyway, ice cream is not for breakfast, but I put a cup of yogurt in the freezer for you last night..."
"YAY!"
She fenced with the sugar bowl while I scooped some of the frozen yogurt (with little blueberry bits) into the bottom half of a sliced Dixie cup. "Have at thee! Yay!"
Clink, clink, as she hit the spoon... then CRASH! "WAUGH!"
I turned around, only to see she'd hit the spoon with enough force to slingshot the lid off the dish and on top of her! O_O
"Amal!" I shrieked, lifting the heavy china lid off of her immediately. She groaned, and flipped her wings... and whimpered. I winced.
Her left wing was FOLDED, like paper.
"Ohmanohmanohman.... we gotta do something!" I freaked, and quickly got the ice cup! Amalthea hopped in, and... we're off!
To HQ!
For the first time!
(She made me come back for the yogurt though.)

May 6th, 2004~
Oh dear, I've been neglecting this diary dreadfully.. fortunately, Amalthea is doing well.
When her wing got... well, hurt... she ended up stopping me halfway to the HQ, flailing her unhurt wing at me and yelling "Don't take me there! They can't see me hurrrrt!" So I took her back home, afraid that all her flapping would injure her wing further. I pulled out the ice tray from the freezer and laid her down on it, hoping the ice would soothe her some, then got out a magnifying glass and examined the wing.
It was folded, but not snapped... the wing fabric and delicate veins were bent but not broken. I suppose it was, in human terms, more like a bad sprain than a broken bone. Major relief! Still, we needed to unfold it and I feared my big shaky hands would not be adequate.
Good thing we had Kree. The Dream is only a bit bigger than Amalthea and quite dexterous with her beak. Just in case, though, I went and got some Oragel (it's a topical anaesthetic ointment) and spread it on the wing. Amal relaxed some immediately. She promised to lay perfectly still, and Kree began.
Gently, gently, Kree took the tip of the wing in her beak and carefully pulled it down, ever so carefully so as not to hurt it further. With her gentle movements she managed to get the wing straight again, with only a little denting in the wing fabric to show it had ever been bent in the first place.
Kree got a big cup of frozen grapes for that! And, of course, Amalthea had some grapes too.
The rest of the time was spent in making sure Amalthea recovered properly. Under my guidance, Kree gently splinted Amal's wing to a bit of blunted toothpick. We kept the wing well swabbed with the Oragel to keep the pain down, and made sure Amal always had lots of fresh ice and all the treats she wanted.
We took the split off this morning, and Amal flew a few inches up, and landed, and proclaimed "It feels good!" Then she wrapped her arms around Kree's neck in a hug.
So it looks like all is well now. Phew. Still, I'll have Rik check it over to make sure it was okay... sometime soon, I think.

May 13th, 2004~
Final exams are eating me alive. Not fun for me. Less fun for Amalthea, and Kree as well. She's taken to riding the Dream around, poking hir with her sword if he doesn't listen to her... heh. She poked ME a little bit before she figured out that was A Bad Idea. Kree either tolerates her or just flat-out goes away for a few hours to visit hir fellow dream-beings.
Amal's wing looks normal again, and she claims it doesn't hurt any more. There's just a little sort of wibble in the wing itself, like a slight dent that's only really noticable if you look for it and the light is right. We were lucky. Amal says it doesn't affect her flying at all, since aparrently she uses magic to boost her flight. It seems to be instinctive.
She has yet to discover any of her elemental powers, and I am at a loss as to how to help her with this. She does play with ice a lot, and experiments while I study or work on papers. Once she dipped her sword in water and managed to end up with a wicked-looking coating of ice on the blade itself. The ice shattered after a few hits to Mr. Play Dough (her practice dummy) but before it broke it made several pretty deep cuts into the thing. Hrm.
Today, she's discovered a new thing. She broke some chunks of ice off of an ice cube, and has been using the ones that she can hold in both hands to draw on the window. The result is very temporary, maybe ten minutes, but it looks really pretty. Just like frost crystals in wintertime in a cold place, with the delicate formations. They form when she puts the tip of the ice to the window and moves it around. I had a magnifying glass to look, but it focused heat on the ice and made it melt faster. Amal was Not Pleased and shook her sword at me again.
She's drawing on a mirror, now. I think she likes that better since I put it out fo the sunlight in deep shade. As long as it keeps her busy... and out of trouble. Until all this is over with.

"So pretty! So pretty! You have my sword! Hee!"
That is more or less what Amalthea's been saying since... er... I watched The Fellowship of the Ring with her in the room. Oh dear. xd Well, it is one of my favorite movies and it gets watched around here about once a month, so I supposed it was inevitable. Her reaction is quite amusing though. I originally put it on to distract her from her boredom while I studied, and boy did it ever work! Too well...
Like every other girl her age... well, or the human equivalent of her age... she has decided Legolas is the most beautiful thing ever to exist. So now I have a tiny raging fangirl on my hand all of a sudden. She even insisted on making her hair braided like his is in the movies. I will admit the style looks quite pretty on her...
She was disgruntled that there are no Feien-sized bow and arrows (or ANY size, actually) in this house, but decided that if a sword was good enough for Aragorn it is good enough for her. Since her sword is blue, naturally, that means there are ALWAYS orcs around somewhere. Usually, the orcs appear in the form of her chewing-gum, which she's been molding into ugly shapes nad then decapitating. Repeatedly. o_O I know she's just playing, although I did have to tell her QUITE firmly that Kree is neither a Balrog nor a Fell Beast. o_<
Amalthea's been changing a bit lately. She likes her sword a lot, and there's the new hairstyle. She's also been playing with her other items as well, and experimenting with her magic. Since we don't have a grimoire for her yet there's not too much she can do, but... she tries. She rubbed the silver glitter into the tips of her hair and sprinkled the blue magic dust on her wings, where it seems to have bonded. She's also painted some silvery swirls onto her skin with the glitter.
The overall effect is rather intensely sparkling, but she says she looks like a beautiful icicle.
With Legolas hair.

May 21st, 2003~
Amalthea has now seen The Two Towers as well, and is awaiting the release of Return of the King next week with rabid anticipation. She's, um, quite the little fangirl. She had better not try and write Mary-Sue fanfiction, though, as that is where I firmly draw the line.
To pass the time until this much-anticipated event (we circled it in red on the calendar, and she rubbed glitter on the date square to make it 'extra-special'), I decided to go check the grimoire at the main shop. Amal still refuses to come with me, oddly enough... I'm still not sure why she does this. It seems like she's just not interested in other Feien right now, which strikes me as strange because she is so curious about everything else... hrm.
Anyway, I found that some of the Ice section of the grimoire had been filled in! I quickly made copies of the relevant pages and brought them home. Amal all but threw herself on the pages with a shriek of joy, talking excitedly about how she could get rid of the itchy feeling.
We found that the reason why making things icy or flying makes her feel better is because those things involve magic. Apparently the itching is a sort of 'magic overload', and when funneled into spells it decreases. It also makes Amal feel very happy and comfortable, so we resolved to learn as much as we could.
Yesterday, Amalthea learned a special ability, she's so clever - Panelemental! So I'm going back to the shop to copy the lists of other elements, as she wants to experiment with using this new power. She rejected some spheres of magic right out, of course - heat and fire - and also does not want Cold as it's closer and, to her mind, weaker than her natural element. I personally have... well, rather a thing for time magic, so I'm rather hoping she'll like one of those.

"Give it back!" I held my hand out sternly to Amalthea, who was teetering on the edge of the toilet bowl, a cheap plastic ring in her hands. It had been the prize in my chocolate cereal (shut up, it's good) this morning, and... well? Now...
"Never! I will resist temptation and destroy the One Ring!" Amalthea proclaimed, attempting to gesture grandly, but only tottering on the toilet seat. The ring may have been plastic, but it was heavy and ungainly for a Feien to carry around. "We are here at the cracks of Mount Doom!"
"... We are here in our bathroom and on my toilet, Amal...."
"Nay!" This time, she put the ring down, and drew her sword and waved it at me. "I shall run you through, Eye of Sauron!"
I raised one eyebrow. "If I WERE the Eye of Sauron, you would be dead before your sword stuck me. And I don't particularly like the comparison, thank you very much..."
"Can you be an orc then?" she asked, hopefully.
"... No! I don't LIKE the bad guys. They're... well, BAD!"
"Duuuh," Amal wagged her head at me, then stuck her sword back in her sash and picked up the ring. She staggered on the edge for a moment. "I destroy you!"
"Amal, DON'T!"
The plastic ring fell over the side and hit the water with a SPLASH... and Amalthea darted to the flush handle and PUSHED.
KSHHHHHHH.
"Middle Earth is FREEEE!" Amalthea cheered, flittering wildly around the toilet as the ring swirled into oblivion.
".... congratulations? Oh, and you just lost your dessert tonight."
Instant pout. "But but but..."
"But nothing... c'mon, Frodo, I think you left your, um, orcs all over the desk..."
