His question really caught her off guard. To be honest, she didn't know what to say. She hadn't really thought about her own future much. "I suppose I want what every mare wants at some point," she started, weighing her words carefully as she spoke. "I'd love to find a nice stallion that would want to take care of me until we grow old and die at each other's side. I'd love to have some little ones to n** about at my feet and to chase around and play with. To watch grow and start lives of their own."
She blushed and added, "I know, boring answers, but I really don't have any pressing desires outside of those. I'm content with this life. I love these lands. I don't want to go on adventures. I don't want to face danger. I've had my fair share of dangers for this lifetime. I just want.. contentment, love and the occasional happiness, you know?" Safety and security, she silently added in her head. Someone strong to protect her and make her feel safe so that she could sleep good at night.
Meera wasn't sure she would have much of a chance to meet such a stallion, since she rarely socialized with anyone. Besides, who would want a freak like her? As if to mirror her thoughts, her tail darted back behind her in an attempt to hide it from view as much as possible.

Aurorealis was always worried about asking the wrong thing. He didn't want to upset anybody. Even if they were a stranger, he didn't want to hurt anybody. "That's nice. I really hope you find that one and get that future you want. I know it's difficult but you've made it this far right." He smiled happily and slightly reminisced about his life. He already had a big family, what else could he ask for? Of course he knew the answer to that question. "That's not a boring answer. New life and a future is beautiful, no matter what."
The stallion noticed the movement of her tail and questioned it. "You shouldn't be ashamed of yourself, you know? No matter how bad our past was, if you changed a single thing, you wouldn't be the person you are now. And the Meera I see now is beautiful in every way. So don't worry." He tried comforting her because she seemed rather uncomfortable. He didn't know if it was his questions or something but he wanted her to be content now.
He chuckled softly, "Sorry, that sounded really corny and cliche. I'll try to avoid making speeches like that." He grinned at her once more.

She had made it pretty far. She had lived through a terrible experience. She had a loving family to support her, and not everyone judged her based on who her father was or the similarities she shared with him. It certainly was hopeful that she would find what she was looking for. Perhaps he understood because he had a family. He had experienced the things she longed for, though she couldn't help but feel a little silly over it since she had a bit of youthfulness to her still, never quite stepping fully into the role of an adult. Of course, did one really have to? Couldn't they be an adult and still enjoy certain things that foals do? Or was that just wishful thinking?
"I guess it's sort of a habit," she replied though she made no effort to un-hide her tail. His compliment did bring a blush to her face and she was thankful her coat was dark enough to hide it. "It's a constant reminder of who my father was and what kind of.. creature he was." Of course, the wings were also a reminder but she didn't mind them so much. A lot of other creatures -- good creatures -- had wings like hers. "My father is a monster, quite literally. He tried to kill me once.. he almost succeeded actually..."
If it wasn't for the unicorn and fiery stallion that came to her rescue that day, she would have surely died. She hoped to never see her father again or any creature remotely similar to him.

"That's understandable. We don't want to remember bad things about who we are." He paused as she mentioned that her father could have killed her. "I'm so sorry Meera. What happened? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." He was curious but how could any soquili attack someone like Meera? She was so pure and innocent. He would never allow someone to harm her again. Why did he feel like he had such a strong connection with Meera? Usually, with strangers, he didn't feel the urges he felt with her. She's been through so much. Much more then any normal soquili should. His heart ached when he thought about the pain she went through.
Aurorealis never had to deal with pain like that. When he was younger, his sister disappeared and that wasn't anything remotely like what had happened to Meera. And he had sulked around for days when that had happened to him. It was amazing that she had the will to continue with her life. He admired her and maybe someday, he would be as strong as she is.

She hadn't really talked about it outside of her family and barely with them. It was such a frightening experience. "It was so random," she started, her voice trailing off to a whisper. "I was just enjoying the day. It was so beautiful. He came out of nowhere. I couldn't talk back then. I don't know why but my voice never came. He just started attacking me."
The mare closed her eyes as the memories flooded her mind. "I took to the air. I tried to get away. He attacked me in the air. He was faster than me. I remember falling and catching myself at the end to land. I felt like I was dying. It hurt so much. A unicorn came to try to help me, and a stallion with fire.. I know it sounds strange but he had fire all around him. He fought with my father. I think the unicorn, I think she healed me and it somehow gave me my voice. I think it scared my father somehow and he left."
A breathe of a moment later, she added, "For some reason, he hated me for being his daughter." Of course, she had left out the part of her mothers brutal rape that had left her near dead. She never felt comfortable talking about her mothers experience. That was not her story to tell.
Though she would not admit it, it had pained her a great deal that she was so loathed as a daughter that she would have been wished dead just because of it, but she tried not to think about it. She had family that loved her and was thankful she was in the world and that's all that really mattered.
