"I would gladly do all of that, I know my Uncle Trig would. he is the sort of person would do something like that. He is constantly putting others before himself when he is able to. I just wished he would get out of that cove of his. He taught me how to be selfless too, but one cannot help but be a little selfish at times... Have you ever known a mortal to give their life to a Goddess if it was to protect her even though immortal?"
An honest question really. He was rather curious if that sort of sacrifice was one noble or stupid. Taking the chance, he carefully licked her shoulder of moisture. Shoulder and nothing more. If he was really selfish, he would not have and left her weak, making her stay here with him.

Teuli nodded quietly, able to do that much again at least. She didn't protest at all when his tongue met her shoulder, old enough and experienced enough to be accustomed to this type of behavior, even with strangers. There had been a long span of time that she had been single after all, and that time spanned even now. While she might miss her mate, that didn't change the fact that they weren't together anymore, and for at least the time being it wasn't hurting anyone (not even her) to indulge in a bit of selfishness as Zeki had so eloquently put it himself.
"..." Her eyes grew distant for a moment, but then she replied. "Something like that... In the eyes of a mortal, living for eternity must seem like quite the gift, but truly... it can be a burden at times. We... we ourselves make that sacrifice every day, every month, every year, decades become centuries... My daughter has taken a mortal for her mate, and I'm afraid that in the end she'll suffer for it, she'll outlive him and their children. What kind of a burden is that for a mother to have to bear? To live on and on with no end, always remembering the pain from lives past? I could tell you a great many stories about mortals and gods. I've known a mortal to sacrifice her entire life and lifestyle to please the Moon, I've known a goddess to give her own immortality to a mortal, and who benefits from such a deal I couldn't say for sure... I'd imagine for her, it was a great relief to finally find peace, to be desperate enough to give up that peace of mind, but the mortal that took her place...? ... Well... she goes on with the memories of her mortal life to haunt her always, any friends that she's made along the way, everything she knew, changed? New responsibilities to mortals who mostly don't even know she exists."
She gave a small, sad smile, resting her head on her paws again.
"There are many stories, and each god has their own. I'm afraid there's not enough time to tell you them all. To answer your question though, yes... it's happened. You'd be surprised."

He stopped the licking, looking back at her. She was a Goddess, that much was true and that she was in need of some help. That does not change the fact that she was a female and that she needed help, he was here to give it. Looking back on it now, he wondered if this life style was going to be him forever, to be the new Ezekiel. Flirting with females left and right, keeping it subtle. . . Wondering if his mate, if he ever found one, would accept it. Ezeoha didn't have a mate but he flirted still and cared for the cubs until they grew up and left. Something he'll have to think about.
"A Mortal dying for a God. A God giving their immortality to a Mortal. I guess it can be said that there are the other pairs of Mortal for a Mortal and a God for a God, I can assume. It must be interesting to know stories of so many and have to know them. To have a child outlive their parent is a sad thing, but Gods must live with their choices. They must have their own reasons, I am sure," he laughed and looked down at his paws. He had wanted a mortal-immortal family, but the chances of his charms to work upon a female now seemed impossible and a fruitless task. To have them suffer knowing that their lives will end before hers. But... what if she chose that path herself? Would he question it knowing that it will be love and hapiness and yet suffering down the line? Teuli said her daughter had chosen that path . . .
Zeki yawned softly, licking his maw.
"To each a story to be passed down from one to another where one's mistakes create a lesson to another."

Well, despite the depressing turn of topics, this was turning out to be a pleasant experience compared to her last run in with a mortal here.
She listened to his thoughts and finally relaxed again, smiling softly.
"This is true." A circle in and of itself.

He perked up a little and smiled.
"So Teuli, any plans for a family?"
It was a straight out, bold question to ask anyone. Especially a female. She might misunderstand and view it as he asking her to allow him to sire a litter with her. That was not his attention, ever would be until his mane was full and even then, he has to love her.

"...." She blinked. Did she really just hear what she thought she did? Lifting her head she looked at him now. "... Come again? Where did that come from?"
Or why was he asking, rather, so suddenly. It was a sensitive subject for her just yet, surprisingly. She hadn't even considered having cubs again with any other male but the one she still loved, but that probably wouldn't happen. She hadn't just left him, she'd purposely hurt him.

"Well, it seems like we were just going in circles with depressing stories about sacrifices and things like that, but a change of subject would be a good change of pace, right?"
It was a pathetic attempt... He had his own ideas and dreams of having a family. Unknown to him, it seems Teuli has already been there .
He shuffled his paws and looked outside. Making himself comfortable, he yawned.
"You dun have to answer, me if you don't feel up to it."

"Hmm...."
The silence falling between them was peaceful and comfortable despite the abrupt nature of that question. The rain outside was the only indicator that time hadn't fallen still. It would be another hour or two before it finally ceased.
****
By the time it did stop Teuli was feeling better. Still a bit tired, she tried standing then, still wet, but at least her wings were rekindling to a steady size. Lifting herself to her paws she glanced over her shoulder.
"That's much better," She purred, shaking gently to loosen a bit of water, trying not to wet Zeki in the process though.

"So you're gonna go now?" Zeki questioned, looking up at her from where his head rested; upon his paws. He looked at her with great question and then outside. It seemed it did stop raining and nothing kept her in this cave but her drenched state. It seems like he had no other tie here either.
"Lady Teuli, would it be rude of me to ask you for something?"
He paused, trying to seem as polite as he possibly can. Hopefully, she would not be offended at all.
"If possible, would I be able to obtain a feather from you?"
Looking at her wings again, it seemed impossible that he was gonna get one. Even more so, look like an idiot.

"Yes, I should be going, I do have duties to tend to elsewhere." The Dawnwalkers, not that they really -needed- her, for they truly didn't, but she did like to stay within those lands, and right now they sounded especially tempting. Dark as her pelt was, the sun felt wonderful to her.
However, before that...
Teuli turned, facing young Zeki fully, and turning her head again she reached back, gently closing her jaws around part of the flames hovering over her shoulders. When she turned to face him again the flame seemed to burn itself up, materializing into a feather before their eyes, as if being consumed in flame, only in reverse. With a final puff of white smoke she handed the feather to him. Black to gray to white, just like the wings and tail that made up her being. It was covered with strange silver runes much like the ones on the feather she wore around her neck.
Settling the feather on the ground at his paws she locked gazes.
"For your help... and for restoring my faith in the males in this pride. Thank you, Ezekiel."
She hoped he'd pardon the use of his full name, she just preferred to be formal when she was being so genuine. With one last parting gift she leaned in and boldly brushed her head against his before she turned and calmly left the chilly shelter, slipping around the corner and out of sight.

"I understand, Lady Teuli, a Goddess is bound to her domain to aid it where it calls. I hope your duty is swift so you can get back to your own free time," he looked at her and thought back himself. he should really take a break looking around for females and things like that and just relax himself.
... not that he knew what to do to relax himself.
Ezekiel's crimson eyes watched, translocked on her actions. Her head pulled back, her maw closed around the wings of fire, pulling free a feather who, once yoinked from its cluster, its flames estinguished. The male watched her place it down upon the floor, his eyes glanced at it for a second before her voice caught his attention once more. It seems that she was leaving but what was this about faith in males in this pride? Was teh Pride Lands that bad? . . . then again, some have said they wished there were more like himself.
"You're welcome, Lady Teuli. . ."
Alone, he looked down at the feather, staring at the silver runes.
"I do hope one day you can see that there are some who can be even better. . ."
