Eh. Setsu waved her paw in the air, turning her head in the opposite direction. "That is something you hear in fairy tails. Do you honestly believe them to be true?" Those inner theories of friendship and hope and all other things good. A corny sprinkly on what was real life. Purple and red eye glimpsed Hakyoku lightly. "I had believed so, once. And that bond was nothing but an illusion. Instead of strength it brought me death."

And to that end, she never dared creating bonds again. With no family here, or familiar faces to visit with, it was becoming an easier task with each day.

But were they honestly not so? His mother always thought they were and it seemed she was all right. No one had betrayed her before. What happened to Setsu to make her so bitter about these bonds? He mulled over the thought. She finally mentioned she was dead what a shame that one of her friends would be the one to kill her. It must have been the worst but he wouldn't pry into it.

Hakyoku frowned "Really fairy tails..." both of his parents seemed to have come from that. One from a wizarding world the other from one filed with demons, monsters and magic. He read about both of their previous homes.

"I suppose I was raised on what you call fairy tails," he muttered quietly.

Setsu sighed as the other went quiet, as if considering and thinking through her little chatter. Front paws slid forward for a stretch, causing her to rest flush on her stomach. Tails kept near, bare tips just flicking lightly so often. One ear flitted as a fish jumped the water before flopping back under, the soft sound of the lake slowly trinkling away.

The undead turned back to the demon for a second, before looking back to the lake. The temperature of the night air was cooler near the body of water, and Setsu tucked her limbs in close to keep mildly warm.

"You?" She blinked and scanned over the other. There were no real physical indications of what he was. The large and soft object wrapped about his shoulders, she had assumed an accessory, but no? "We have time to waste." It was a light suggestion. Why not let the night pass with soft talking? "And? Do you enjoy your fairy tale?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 17, 2008 11:45 pm

Hakyoku gave a nod. "Yes wasting time..." he muttered time was the thing he had lots of. The night was still young and wasting time seemed like a good thing to do. Calm talk through the night that was truly, a good waste of time.

"Yes" he said sincerely "I do, it's something that’s irreplaceable to me."

Time. Just too much damn time. Though it seemes like neither of them were much of talkers. Setsu huffed coolly, flicking ears forward to the lake as eyes scanned upward. Alot of time and alot of nothing to speak about. Just...fairy tales. Not something she read, let alone believed in.

Sitting in silence of some moments, the kitsu sat as still as stone. How long would this night crisp over, only to drag onto daylight? Boredly, Setsu curled in and rolled onto her back like she had been originally. "Well then, guard it well." That's all she could say as far as it concerned the others 'fairy tale' life. Not her best topic to really chat about.

He gave a soft smile. "When I was younger some one told me the same thing..." he was reminded of a meeting he had a while back with a funny kitsu with white hair. He never had much fun as a child always trying to take care of his siblings perhaps that’s why he preferred as little company as possible but he still loved every now and then to see his family.

"I made a promise to protect it a long time ago,” he told her curling his tails around his forepaws.

"What about you?" he inquired she had a sword scabbard yet no sword perhaps it was hidden. "Have you nothing to protect anymore?"

"Really now?" Then she must have said something cliche. She mumbled to that idea, not liking to sound predictable ever. One ear flicked as a dragonfly landed on it, and the undead femme watched coolly as the insect flew over to the demon only to rest on his shoulder.

Setsu blinked to the sky for a moment, as if intent on ignoring the others presence. Not true. Just a form of habit for her during the nights..they made her reacted slower and calmer. She sighed before rolling on her stomach to face the other kitsu, letting her head lean into one of her paws almost boredly. "You tell me. What is there to protect, when you have no friends or family? I have neither of those here, and so I have nothing to protect." Save herself, and that was all. It was the only reason she bothered carrying her short blade anymore. It would be nice to have something worth protecting once again, like some purpose to have.

Hakyoku gave a slight nod and watched at the insect flew and landed on his shoulder he smiled softly for a moment and then stood like stone as not to disturb the insects presence. Even though it was a little thing it still deserved some peace.

The half demon stared at the sky before she spoke, having nothing that was an awful feeling such loneliness. She needed some sort of friend to protect. Friends could always be made if one would take the time to make them.

"Find someone to protect." he said simply with a smile adjusting his position and startling the dragonfly that rested on his shoulder. Hakyoku held out his paw and allowed it to land delicately upon it. “One can always make friends to protect if they want unless loneliness suits you more.

"Find someone?" The male made it sound almost like a store to walk into without hesitation. Setsu adjusted with a stretch, sitting up with tails curled around her paws. She still felt sluggish, but now felt a rising...tensity, that was enough to urge her for a walk around the lake's edge.

"I don't think it is necessarily a...job, to go questing for. If it comes it comes I suppose." Eyes turned to the glint on the bug's wings, caused by the moonlight and its sudden flutter. Silence was spent for a few moments, the undead sometimes glancing to the silver water or the sky. It was so serene. Too serene. And to an individual that was too used to battles, it was almost disturbing.

Setsu stood slowly, before padding across their distance, glancing to the demon. "I do prefer some time alone, that much is true." But there was a fine line difference between being alone and being lonely. The kitsu shook her head, unbothered. "In any case, I'm heading to tread the water's edge. Do you wish to come?" It was no issue to her either way. There were only so many hours left of night, and once sun broke she'd go back to hiding within the wooded terrain.

From her reaction he couldn't tell whether or not he had insulted her or it might be something she would consider but he made no move to push his point. If she truly wanted some one to protect she would find some one even though she may from his suspicions of her be a corpse. Either way it didn't matter.

"True enough." he said perhaps if some one did come along and wish to be her friend it would happen. Hakyoku blew gently on the dragonfly causing it to stir and hover off his paw. "I do hope you find a friend." he said with a smile. She to him seemed lonely even if she didn't want to admit it and he wished to be her friend if she wanted on of course. He himself didn’t have to many being a half demon.

"Would you like to elaborate on that line?" he inquired with no malice or anything of the sort intended before standing to follow her. "I would quite enjoy a walk," he said accepting her offer with a smile. The Sun would soon rise and he had no doubt they would part such was the nature of their midnight meeting.

Heh, sometimes it didn't pay to have such a poker face. Though if Setsu had been insulted, her reaction would have been less than kindly. Though as time was going on, and with her latest visit with the Reaper, she was finding less need to be sharp-tonuged. Not the best adjustment, in her opinion, but in lands this peaceful it seemed only natural to learn other's habits. And it was annoying to boot.

"Hm." She could only flick an ear to his hopes. While his wish sounded like a good thing, to her it was something to avoid. To makes friends in this place meant she accepted her fate, to stay in this world and never see her human home again. Could she ever allow herself to do that?

"Which line? It being a job?" At least that's what she thought he meant. A nod was given to his agreement for a walk. At least he wasn't of annoying and loud company, that she can handle. Paws stepped over moist grass as she made her way towards the water, glimpsing at the liquid before walking along it. "I suppose I don't understand then. Never did. Is friendship something to scout for, or something that just clicks." Her voice kept low, as if she was debating this theory to herself.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 23, 2008 6:47 pm

Hakyoku walked silently beside her then smiled "Oh never mind about that I was thinking about something else." he said he continued to walk beside her his black tails flicking gently from side to side paws padding near silently on the ground. It was still peaceful and calms a wonderful night.

Breaking the silence he responded to her question finally "it is both something to look for and it clicks at the same time." he explained "When you look for it sometimes you are rewarded with friendship faster than if you wait for it to come to you." or so he believed.

Glancing to the sky a dim light was beginning to brighten the dark starry sky.

Eyes narrowed in slight pout, the female flicking ears back. Carefully she darted forward, pivoting on her heels to block this strang kitsus path. How could she not understand? That was something she couldn't find herself tolerating. "Then what do you speak of, Hakyoku?" Her voice wasn't harsh, but simply stern and asking. Were they on the same topic or not...what was he thinking that was out of her grasp?

She listened in on his definition of 'friendship'. Sounded logical, just as everything else did about seeking and recieving. But friendship was just....trickier; sometimes even false. Dipping her head, Setsu could only make peace by dully accepting his veiw. No point in arguing something so vague and in need of testings.

Halting Hakyoku stood "I will be your friend if you want one." he said simply. The demon was able to understand her solitude; she had been attacked and often yelled at to leave. Just because of what she was. It was similar for him. Friendship to her... was something of a risk?

"Are you holding back on having friends?" he inquired "Is it because you are undead?" he said letting her know he knew. He had known from the beginning. It was most likely a touchy subject for her, and no doubt the reason she didn’t and couldn’t trust anymore.

Blink. The female stood there, face pale and expressionless. It was certainly not the words she was expecting to hear. Her mind had been set on just what other things he was pondering. What they were speaking that she was failing to understand. Then to hear it for herself to understand and finally lay at rest. But this? To turn the topic of...friendship on her in such a manner? Unexpected, to say the least.

Mouth opened to speak back, but she was held mute as he continued. Then her brow twitched and furrowed, as if insulted by him stating the fact. Even without words, scents seemed to give things away. "It plays a role, if that's what you're asking." Double toned eyes turned to his own, before glimpsing to the horizon. "And is that why the demon lurks at night? So you do see, it's not easy to live in unfavored blood and skin."
