Zuriel swam a little closer to the shore. "Hello there Lady Amara, Miss Sienna. So is this...um she what was making you so...er...pregnant before? And I wasn't trying to insult her, shrimp are so small and cute, that's what I meant!" He ended his speech with a bit of indignation. Why did he always get misunderstood? "And I must apologize as well, my name is Zuriel."

A stern look suddenly crossed the mare's face. "Do be careful with what you have to say, especially around children Zuriel-san. It tends to be a bad influence on them if the wrong words are chosen." Hmmmm... she hadn't used that land's language in a long time. The motherly soquili turned around and smiled at her child. "I know you wanted me to give give him a good whacking or something but all her needs is a light scorn and a lead in the right direction. You can forgive Zuriel, right?"
The foal looked emotionless as she stared at the sea creature. Even though it had a name, she refused to acknowledge him as such. Sticking out her tongue out childishly at the sea creature, little Sienna dashed behind her mother and peered out from behind the mare's short tail.
"Sorry... Sei... Well, Sei's a bit of an odd one," Amara couldn't help but laugh. "And as to your earlier question, yes. This is what results from being pregnant. I had three wonderful foals in total. The other's are staying with their respective guardians for the moment. And, I can see what you mean by shrimp. They can be cute but to land dwellers, shrimp can also mean 'very short in stature' and is often seen as an insult."

"Well she is small..." Zuriel muttered sulkily. He hated not knowing things that apparently other's just knew. It wasn't his fault that he had grown up alone and rarely met with others.
He spoke up now "I'll keep that in mind Lady Amara." He refused to acknowledge Sienna, but his ignoring was in some ways just as childish as sticking out his tongue.

"Don't trouble yourself too much over it. Not everyone knows things just off the top of their heads. I mean, even Sei doesn't know a lot of these things but she's still young and quick to anger and cry. Even over silly things. The role of the parent is to teach their child what's right and what's wrong. Eventually, they'll figure it out." Amara noticed how the mer seemed to ignore Sienna's existence. A soft chuckle escaped her. "Well, hopefully, the two of you can forgive each other eventually. Pleas don't take too much offense from Sei. She's still young after all."

Zuriel shook his head as he tried to wrap his mind around the concepts that she was presenting. "You mean that if you have a child you teach them all of these things? How do you even do that if they don't really know language that well?"
He avoided her eyes "Who said anything about me taking offense from Miss Sienna? I am perfectly fine with her."

"Well, eventually they start to learn about these things and comprehend it." The mare turned he head around to peer at her daughter who continued to sulk behind her.
Sienna gazed over at the seas creature from behind her mother. It did seem sorry for what it did earlier.... maybe... perhaps... But, it was still it's fault for everything!
"And... ignoring Sei isn't going to help with the matter either Zuriel..." Amara couldn't help but weakly smile at this.

"Wow...that sounds difficult...I mean in the end is all that work and such worth it?" Children...what an odd concept. "Why would someone willing choose to do that?"
"And as for Miss Sienna...well what more can I do? I've apologized, and now I have nothing to say to her that I can think of. I simply don't know what to do." He sighed.

"Well... guess the only answer I have for that is that its just a part of life," the mare replied with a small smile. "And... Sei probably won't formally apologize any time soon I'm afraid... She holds a bit of a grudge whenever something bad happens to her. Or in this case, if she thinks something bad happened to her. Please be patient with her." Amara bowed her head lightly at the mer.

Zuriel nodded slowly "I understand...though hopefully she'll be able to forgive me some day. And at least you don't seem to be upset with me as well, I'd hate for that to happen. One grudge a day is more than enough."

Dark red eyes peeked out from behind her mother once again as the foal looked at the sea creature with an unreadable face. And sudden frown of sorts crossed over Sienna's face as the foal high tailed it and dashed off back home towards the woods where it was much safer and warmer... and away from the sea creature.
Amara's ears perked up as the foal began to move. Her head turned back in time to see her daughter running a few feet ahead towards home. "Ah! Sorry Zuriel! I'll have to talk with you later! Perhaps you can meet the others sometime. Or my mate. My father would definitely enjoy your company! Ja nee!" Amara turned with grace and ease and began her chase after her silly filly.

Her family, her mate. They would be interesting to meet someday. Belatedly he remembered to call after them "Goodbye! See you soon!" This was an interesting new chapter and as he dove back into the water his mind was filled with a jumble of new thoughts and idea. Those land creatures were just so interesting.
