First off, I don't think flying mounts would work in the next expansion (IMO) it would be some coding issue.

Two, I don't think a noob filter would be good. remember, Blizzard is out to make money. They want to sell as many copy of the next expansion to make more money. It would be like shooting themselves in the foot IF only 25% of players can use the content then the 75% won't bother to buy the next expansion PLUS may even quit because Blizzard is "blocking" content to "noobs"

Third, this is suppose to be fun. I am sure players would want to get to level 80 without having to depend on teammate to "raid" to unlock new content.

What I really do not want to happen is to kill Arthas... His fight should be you fighting and whatever, then at 1% he bubble hearths (lol former pally) and leaves a chest. xp

1. they've confirmed flying mounts in northrend at a later level
2. why are you automatically assuming there will be a programming bug that prevents them from allowing flying mounts?

not everyone likes raiding.

Not everyone can raid. With my work schedule, I'm lucky to hit maybe one raid a week since it changes everything. I also agree that this idea is kind of absurd. I mean, I'm in a good guild of people work with each other and we're only running Kara/ZA and have only done a couple shots a Gruul. I just wonder how many people in my kind of a situation would be stuck after everyone leaves the old content. And every time you level a new alt you'd have to form a new SSC/TK raid just to do one quest to get it to 80. That would prove more of a strain on the guild than ever before.

I think the confusion over having flying mounts stems from 1) it being on Azeroth, & 2) current Azeroth doesn't allow flying mounts.

I agree it'll be kind of illogical for us to able to use flying mounts on one continent & not the other two of the old world. It'd be like if you had to park your car & walk in Canada & Mexico when leaving the USA. But, that seems to be what will happen with WotLK.

But, the reason you can't use flying mounts in old Azeroth is the amount of weird unfinished/glitchy areas the devs just left, as they figure them inaccessable enough to players. Actually fixing them might be a huge PITA.

The thing is that, I assume the world are coded via server cluster.

The original world does not allow flying mount. The only way to fly is via FP (Flight Point) now, in outland you can use your flying mount EVERYWHERE (and I LOVE IT)

so... Northend as I understand it will be part of the old world (not another world) so it will reside the same world where flying mount is NOT allow. Of course if they made an exception it would be separate code to ensure that people won't find ways to use flying mount in the old world.

now maybe the mount can only be use in the instance instead of the "open land" then that might work.

*sigh*

on coding, there's a long way to explain this and a short way, and since I'm lazy, I'll do the short way.

On a private server, the toggling of a single setting allows you to use your flying mount in old world azeroth/kalimdor.

Oh and Northrend will be its own server instance just like all the other continents. (Kalmidor is one, Lorderon-Azeroth is one, Draenor is one, and Northrend will be one)

Oh and also, they said that you'll have to re-enable your flying mounts at level 75 or something.

right I understand that, but what about can you fly out of the northend continent? If you do then what? do you just instant death? or will there be a magical wall that prevent any player mount to fly out?

In Outland, all the section of outland are interconnected one form or another, you could use your own flying mount to fly to another section.

In the original world, you can't fly and yes I am aware it is its own instance and can be reach via ship. right now we can't swim to another continent because of "deep water" and would die from exhaustion.

so.. would there be "thin air" so you can't fly out of northend? do you see where I'm going with this?

I really dont want to kill Arthas either, but honestly, he has to die.
Illidan is just a crazy guy with some henchmen, Arthas is seriously ******** evil and insane and wanting everything dead, not just settling for the control over some little broken bits of the Twisting Nether.
Its like comparing Bowser to a crazy ungodly mix of Lex Luthor and the Joker.
Trust me, this guy is a ******** you want dead.

Also, I demand more frost wyrms.

I was thinking about this about the flying issue with Northend.

Maybe something like that since we get to "re-enable" flying at level 75, then probably it is a large continent surrounded by water, when we fly beyond the continent, we fall safety into the water and have to swim back to shore. If you go out too far, then we go into "deep water" where you get exhausted and possible die if you don't come back smile

*Shrug*

Personally, I think WoW made a big mistake making flying mounts. Too much coding on their part, and it only complicates things. Plus spoiling the richest players is a bit off to me.

Technically, we're not going to fight Arthas. He's dead & gone, merged with crazyass whats his face to become the Lich King. I didn't like Arthas before anyway. I like my crazies in elf flavor. Kael FTW. <3

[edit] Illidan is also elf flavored, sub-flavored grape/demon.

Are you forgetting that there is already a loading screen when going from Kalimdor to Azeroth or visaversa? Same deal with northrend. And The same thing happens if you go to far off any continent instance. Actually, I've never done it in Ouland so I don't know, but in the old world you fatigue, plain and simple, doesn't matter if you're swimming, waterwalking, or flying.

Exact same thing as when you try to go from Teldrassil to the Exodar.

Outland is one continent. Don't forget that. The old world was two continents, soon to be three, which doesn't really change anything mechanics wise.

No, right now we can't swim to another continent because the original world is not its own instance, its two seperate ones: Azeroth and Kalmidor.

covered this.
