"Traditions?" he asked with a smile. "Hmmmm...." They had a lot of smaller ones, though they related more to stories than what they actually did.
"Well, if you want something interesting, there was an old prophecy about my sister and I," he began slowly. "It was told by an old lioness that there would be two black children born to the Akida (who's the king), and that they would 'break the line of Kings'. I think it means my sister, but..." he grew a little quiet. "Sometimes I think it went to her head, so she's not the kindest when it comes to me. I've tried but...only so much you can do." He avoided mentioning that maybe, just maybe she would have to meet her some day, and it might no go over too well, especially since she would be considered an 'outsider'.

"Your sister shouldn't put so much stock into prophecies. I've found they're often wrought with phrases that could mean many different things." And it was true. From what she had seen and heard, no one ever knew the full extent of the prophecy until it was put into action.
"And its a shame that you sister is mean to you because of it... she's missing out on a strong friend." It really was. Siri felt bad for Jicho, he must struggle with that problem daily.
But it did get her thinking. If Siri ever did join the pride, she wondered what her reception would be. Since they were a small secretive pride, she wondered how and if they let others in. They had to though, considering that Jicho had mentioned they were running out of non-related blood. "Whats the mteo's stance on outsiders joining?" She gave him an encouraging smile.

Jicho waved a paw. "It's not that big of a deal," he started. "I love my sister, and I'm sure she loves me too! It's just....there's that little bit of friction, but I still care about her, and my parents do as well." He was completely wrong, on some levels, but he had always blindly cared for his sister, and the thought that she would ever do anything against him that could cause him harm never crossed his mind. Not to say that they didn't cross her's, though...
He smiled warmly at her comment. Oooh, wait...that was a good question! One that Jicho liked hearing from her. "There's a couple of members that are stuck on the old ways, but my father, the current Akida welcomes in outsiders." He laughed. "It's definately needed or else we'd probably end up dying out..." he let his voice grow quiet for a moment. "But there are some new members that were once outsiders, and have settled in comfortably."

Despite what Jicho said, Siri still didnt get good vibes from how he talked about his sister. If they ever met, she would have to be careful. Siri hoped that nothing would become of there 'innocent' sibling rivalry. Even though they had only met twice now, she was growing more fond of Jicho by the minute.
It was just an unsettling feeling. "Thats good at least. Sometimes change can be the best thing." She stretched out a cramp in her paw while trying to think of more questions. "So... your pride is run by a king and a queen right? What other ranks of the pride are there?"

Jicho thought for a moment. "Well, there is the Akida, who you could call a king. My mother is a Kaimu, the Queen. Males are called Shujaa, but they are the warriors of our pride who help keep us safe from any outside dangers, besides the walls. The females are the Msaka, the huntresses who keep our bellies full. Their limbs are tattooed with markings of great hunts, but when they grow older and cease hunting, their tattoos fade. There are a few elders, though one is of the old ways, and the other isn't as much."
He swished his tail, cocking his head to the side, a bit curious. He hoped that he didn't lose her anywhere! "I hope it's not too complicated."

She smiled. "No! Not at all. Everything sounds so interesting!" And it was true. Siri found information on other prides absolutely fascinating, and as of right now, she wanted to soak up as much information as she could.
However, she did want to make sure she remember it. "So there are the warriors- shujaa, the huntresses who are called Msaka and the elders." Repeating things tended to help her memory, even though she was sure that she butchered some of the names.
"So the tattooing signifies great achievements... but do males get the markings as well? Or it just the females?" It was a very interesting way to remember the great events, by marking it on your own body.

Jicho smiled. He was vibrating with joy. Well, at least she understood it! There wasn't too much to remember, at least with different rank in to Mteo'nyungu, but there might be other things that she didn't quite understand, either. They'd all come in time. Besides, he didn't think they were that different; he was raised in beliving it.
"Yes, just the Msaka." He really didn't know why, it was just part of their culture. "I'm not really sure about the males, but I bet scars could ben seen as a great achievement as well, especially if they're defending the pride."
He shrugged. "Or well, that's what I know about it. I'll admit I've slacked a bit on my duties of learning everything, but I've got time to learn it all."

Siri was incredibly happy as well- probably happier than she had been since she was a child. The more she thought about it, the more it sounded like a nice place to live. It would be nice not to travel anymore, and it would also be nice to relax and have a family again. "It sounds like a very nice place to live." She smiled warmly over at the black male.
"And I'm sure that you'll know it all soon! There cant be much more to learn right?" She laughed a little bit. He sounded slightly like a cub studying with his statement, and it was rather cute.

Jicho knew that there were more things to learn, and some serious ones as well, but he still viewed his father as being strong and healthy, so he didn't worry about it too much.
"Well..." Oh, geeze. How was he supposed to ask about this? He...really didn't know. Maybe he should just say it? But if he said it wrong she might take it the wrong way. Oh...hell!
"Would you like to see it, then? I'm sure no one would mind," a small lie, but maybe only two or three lions would really protest. "And then you can see it all for yourself."

Siri was genuinely (but happily) surprised. It wasnt every day that you got an offer to tour someone else's pride! She hoped after all that Jicho had told her about the pride not necessarily liking outsiders, they would have a warm reception to her at least.
But as long as she was with the prince of the pride nothing back could happen! "That sounds wonderful. I'd love to see your pride. Your sure its fine though?"

"Sure it's fine!" he laughed, though he could tell she was a bit nervous. Maybe he shouldn't of mentioned the outsider thing.....but if he hadn't, and it was all of a sudden brought up to her face, that wouldn't be a good thing, not at all.
"Do you want to go now?" he asked, a goofy smile on his face. There was certainly enough time for them to go check it out today, as long as she wanted to. He'd listen to her concerns, if she had any. He was sure it was a bit scary. He didn't know how he'd feel if he was going to check out another pride, especially one that was a bit secret.

She looked up at the sun. It was still fairly high in the sky, so there would be plenty of time to check out the pride. "That sounds good." She gave him a solid smile, but on the inside she was still feeling a little nervous about it.
Siri was mostly happy of course! A handsome lion was showing her around his pride, after all. But in the pit of her stomach there was a small gnawing sensation of fear. She didnt like it at all, but it wasnt that hard to hide it and push the thoughts out of her mind.

"Alright~!" He showed his excitement in a bright laugh, leaping forwards a bit before he swiveled around to face Siri.
"It's this way, not too far from here. We can make it there soon if we head there now." Yeah, he was too excited now, wasn't he?

She smiled and bounded up after him. She was excited as well after all! "That sounds good Jicho- just lead the way." Even though normally she was calm and reserved, something about this particular lion made her feel different.
She kept glancing at him through the side of her eyes. He was a handsome lions, with his strange markings and eyes. She hadnt really looked at his eyes before. but now that she had she was surprised to say the least! They were very lightly colored, and it almost looked as if he was blind. They suited him however. Siri wondered vaguely if Jicho's twin had the same eyes.
She turned her head back to the path in front of her, following just behind Jicho, towards the mteo'nyungu.
