Riko did not appreciate being shushed like that, but if Habu wanted to tell Kubwa about all of this then he could go for it. Perhaps Kubwa would know what to do about it, though Riko seriously doubted it by the sounds of how his dealings with females had gone. It was similar but quite opposite in most aspects that it was similar.
However, he was smart enough to decide not to argue with Habu- that would only make it worse, and he knew that. Worse wasn't good, so he simply backed off. Turning around, he went as sat by the den to watch quietly.
Habu shook his head as he watched Riko back off. His attention was immediately drawn back to Kubwa as he described the situation right off, not even hesitating on any part of it- and then continuing on jus to say that he couldn't do anything wrong. Habu could almost feel Riko growl mentally- and he wondered if maybe he'd been spending too much time with Riko as he almost did so himself. How could it be so easy for Kubwa to just say that? To just assume that like it was nothing, and then complain about how he couldn't do anything right.
"I'm glad it's so easy for you to say it," he snapped. Only once before had Habu ever really broken down emotionally, that was when he'd tried to understand why his father had been so distant with him before he'd moved out, and this whole situation with Intombi had him on edge.
"Intombi is pregnant, and she refuses to talk to me, let alone let me anywhere near whatever cubs we have," he explained, "We were all perfectly fine until one day she just up and left because of this. But I'm sorry I'm not exactly in a welcoming mood, and that you can't do anything right."

Kubwa watched Wahabu stunned at the lion's response to his own bluntness, yes it had been easy for him to say it, why? Because sometimes the truth had to be said, he was always one for the truth..except when it came to Tete's origins. Tetemeko's conception had been something he wasn't proud of and if he knew of Hewa it would be even worse. He stared blankly at his friend unsure of how to proceed. Wahabu had never been angry like this with him, maybe sad and hurt..well he assumed anyway, there he went assuming.
"I'm sorry, it's just coming here was supposed to be nice, I assumed.." You know what you get when you assume..."Pregnant...track her down?" If Boma had not given him Tetemeko, he would have gone searching for her and his unborn cubs.
"If Boma had taken Tete and I knew..I..or even the others." he though about what if the girls had survived, what if they were out there somewhere away from him.
"I just..." his jaw popped as he snapped it shut. Intombi did not seem teh type to wander off pregnant and being so cruel.

"A couple weeks too late," Riko mumbled to himself off to the side, still bitter about being told to back off and still wishing to express his distaste for Kubwa's little visit. However, he figured Habu was doing a pretty good job of that- and as tempted as he was to jump in on the conversation again, he had some faith that his nephew would not lose nerve now and would fight back.
Hopefully.
Habu winced when Kubwa said that their reunion was supposed to be nice, looking down at the ground. He felt bad, he really did.. but there wasn't much he could do to feel happy without actually losing his mind at this point. He had to come to terms with all of this, if he really was going to give up on trying to convince Intombi.. he didn't want to force her, but did he really want to give up? Give her some time, maybe..
His eyes snapped back up to Kubwa when he tried to suggest Habu go and track her down, he felt a sharp twist in his stomach again and he fought the urge to shout again. Luckily, he managed to keep himself calmer- though his voice was rather shaky.
"I tried! Of course I tried!" he said shakily, "She's not easy to find, no one is around here when they don't want to be found. There are so many lions living here, it's easy to drown out your scent if you're careful enough. She just doesn't want to be anywhere near me!"

"Weeks too late? How far along is she?" Had she already given birth by now? Or was the pregnancy fairly recent he tried to think how long it was since Tete's conception that he was brought to him, of course that was no judge he was nearly a juvenile when Kubwa finally found him.
"If you want my help, I feel awful showing up and dragging all of this up," he looked down guiltily much like Wahabu looked down feeling sad, "I'm sorry I assumed so much, and I just.." he sighed heavily wishing he had not come this day, maybe if he had come earlier Intombi would have been here and things would have seemed fine.
"Riko, I'm sorry too, must seem rude and you're trying to protect your.."he held back a slight snigger, "nephew." He looked between the two of them trying to pull something together to salvage the conversation, nothing would lighten up this day though.

Riko shrugged, he hadn't much idea about pregnancy himself but he knew it had been a couple weeks since Intombi had left. Depending on how long they usually were pregnant.. she could be quite pregnant by now. He couldn't even have said how pregnant she really looked when she'd run away.
He wasn't surprised - or displeased- to hear Kubwa offer his help, though he doubted it would work. Would harassing work on Intombi? Maybe, but he doubted either of them had it in them to persistently force their presence on Intombi. Maybe they could kidnap the kids or something, then the tables would turn and Intombi would harass them..
"Mhmm," he mumbled, not really paying too much attention to Kubwa now.
"I don't know, I can't honestly say I know a great deal about pregnancy once it's happened and before.. well, you have the cubs," Habu mumbled, having only really known his grandmother while she was pregnant with Riko and his siblings, but he hadn't paid much attention or been there a whole lot.
Habu drooped again, his anger running out now..
"I don't know how you could help," he mumbled, "Intombi doesn't want to be around, I can't force her. Hopefully I'll be able to see them, though.." Intombi couldn't keep him away forever, right? It was a big pride, but it was also just one pride in one area..

To tell the truth he didn't know much about gestation, he thought he could possibly help though by looking, maybe this was a very large misunderstanding? "I can keep my eyes open, go back to the last place I saw her at? See if I can pick up any kind of trail?" He searched for any other way he might be able to help out but could come up with nothing.
"She could come back?" he offered? Unsure what to say anymore, maybe he should just leave now.

Riko perked up a bit, returning his attention to Habu when Kubwa offered to help hunt her down. He'd offered, but he knew that both he and Habu knew that if he was the one to find Intombi it might only end up worse. Mafuriko was not exactly a tactful lion, and he was not particularly happy with this whole situation. Intombi was all fun, until she got pregnant.
"Do you suppose she'll change her mind?" he snorted, "Could hardly take care of herself with Bubu around-" she did end up pregnant and rather unhappy seeming as a result of that, that didn't sound like taking care of herself. "I wonder if she'd have more luck with a cub."
"I think that might be a good idea," Habu mumbled, agreeing that keeping their eyes open would be a good idea. Maybe not to talk to her specifically, but he wanted to make sure she was ok, that the cubs were ok. He loved Intombi, despite all of this, which was part of why he was so reluctant to simply harass her. He was heartbroken that she apparently didn't feel the same way about him.
"Watching out for all of them from a distance might be the best I can do," he sighed.

"Bubu?" Kubwa mimicked amused at the nick name, "I'll keep an eye out for you, Wahabu..I don't see our little meeting going anywhere up hill, for a time I think it might be better if we parted ways, I will check in with you if I see anything? Possibly bring my son along?" He thought that it would make him happier and in better spirits next time if Tetemeko was there, maybe his smart son would know how to handle the situation, even if, thank goodness, Tetemeko did not have any children of his own.
"I can stick around though, I mean..we could catch up? How is your mother and all of those types of questions?" He shifted anxiously, hopefully indeed the next time was less stressful more peaceful.

Riko hadn't meant to let the nickname slip, for he was trying his best to be nice to Habu and of course, when Intombi found out she'd given him a hard time. At least Wahabu was rather good natured about it, perhaps it would be more distracting than harmful. Either way, Riko was used to calling his nephew Bubu and wasn't about to give it up just like that.
Fully out of the conversation now, where it seemed to steer towards a farewell, Riko relaxed himself by the den to just wait it out.
"Thank you," Habu said, ignoring the whole Bubu thing. He couldn't help but see some small point in what Riko said, though he wouldn't exactly agree that Intombi had not taken care of herself. More like Habu had failed at taking care of her, he should have known better .. but he thought.. well, it didn't matter what he thought now. If she needed help, he hoped she would come to him first.. but..
"Maybe we can watch the nannies, or something," he suggested, "If she does need help, but won't come back here.. they'd be able to help. Bibi is a nanny, maybe she'd notice.."
He sighed when Kubwa said that perhaps it was time to part, it was depressing that their last meetings had always gone over so poorly. Of course, the situation with his mother hadn't really been anyone's fault.. and Habu blamed himself for this mess.
"I'd love to meet your son," he said in as cheerful a tone as he could manage, "My mother is well, but she left the Pridelands quite some time ago. A lot has gone on in my family, but perhaps now is not the best time. I'm sorry for everything.."

Kubwa watched as Riko retired to the den and was slightly relieved the male was not on the pale lion's top list of people he loved, but he did not hate him either. His attention now fully on Wahabu he bobbed his head in an Aadil fashion and smiled warmly.
"I know a nanny as well, I'll put the word out that I'm looking for a friend of mine to a few of the lions I know," he nodded jerkily the smile still plastered to his face. He could not help but snicker he had intended the comment about his mom to be a suggested topic for next time, but he could not expect Wahabu to be on his toes about everything, the poor guy was going through quite a bit.
"I'm sure Tetemeko wouldn't mind a walk with dear old dad. We'll discuss much more another time, until then, if you need anything, anything at all you can find me at the tree we first met at, I go there often to think."

"Ok," Habu nodded, glad that maybe now they had a plan that would work. It was kind of creepy to stalk someone, but he wasn't really stalking Intombi per se. He just wanted to make sure that they were all OK, all of them..
"Maybe I'll drop by sometime," Habu agreed wearily, wondering how often he'd gone and checked before if Kubwa had been there.. back when he was making an active effort to find his old friend. Perhaps now it would be successful, and perhaps at another time he could find out where Kubwa had been exactly for so long.

Kubwa beamed, a semi-salvaged goodbye out of a not so great meeting. He would stalk Intombi if he had to, to help his old friend, he missed the companionship of the lion, he did not have many friends at all it seemed, Mia, Tete, possibly a few others about the lands.
"Until then?" He stepped back and turned to go, his posture a lot less happy and hopeful than before, but he did not skulk away from his dear old friend and his new 'friend' Mafuriko. Kubwa stored the information of "Bubu" for later use, when everyone was happy again he would have to use it. He walked on thinking about how hard it had been on Tetemeko without a mother, and if it would be different if he would have had no father. He shivered and tried to push the thought back into the recesses of his mind.

Habu was not looking quite so droopy as the conversation with Kubwa ended, his spirits lifted enough that he could manage a smile, however weak. It was good to see his old friend, it was just sad that he couldn't really keep it light and cheerful. So much was going on, but at least now they seemed to have a plan.
With a sigh, he too went back to the den. He'd probably have to explain some things to Riko.
Fin.
