Nene grunted faintly but didn't shrug him away, instead licking his nose " Brat you don't need a nursemaid no more. Well...actually...ya do..but I ain't following no grown stallion around while he is courting. " She huffed but smiled. " Ya grew up kiddo. Can't stay in the basket forever."

He rumbled happily at the gesture of affection, tugging her slightly closer with his wing. "I indeed need a Nursemaid... Every hour of the day, Sibalto says..." He shrugged, then gave her his best, doe-eyed innocent look. "You would have liked me in the basket, I was quiet...."

Nene barked a sharp laugh" Kid I doubt you were quiet even when your mum was pregnant with you! Poor female having to carry a brat like you" She gave the big stallion a crooked grin nuzzling his leg again. She really had missed him and been worried about 'her' mischievous and curious colt out there on his own. " Actually I suppose I should go with ya...gotta make sure them empty headed mares are good enough for my boy."

"The mare I have my eye on." He offered slyly. "Is not empty headed in the least.. And if you'd like to meet her, I'd be all too happy to introduce you... So long as you don't make me look bad.. She seems to like me, and if you have a chance to farm me out to another nurse maid, I'm sure you should take it.. Who knows when another shall arise, eh?"

((Kea, doing a time skip so Aure can formally tell Nene about his femme troubles and forthcomming family, ok? <3))
Aureate paced through the woods, looking this way and that. He didn't know exactly where the grumpy old wolf lived, but he figured if he stomped around in her territory enough, she'd come to see what all the noise was...
He chuckled softly. That sounded just like Nene... Hopefully she didn't just attack...
"Nene? Its Aureate... I, I need to talk to you!" He called.

Nene grunted faintly but yawned opening her eyes. She had been napping in the sunshine. " What? Can't you see I was sleeping brat??" She yawned wide showing off her sharp teeth, one ear flicking lazily.

Aureate smiled as he finally found the little clearing the she-wolf was dosing in. One of the many they had visited before, when he was a foal. Those were good days, good memories. Times he wouldn't mind having again. Too bad Nene was set in her ways, she probably couldn't stand being around anyone long...
Even if it was her favorite Featherhead...
"Aye, I saw that." He grinned. "But I need a certain acidic wit to keep me from losing my head... And I figure you're the best source of that for miles, even if I am flying..."
He winked, wishing he was as cocky as he sounded. Inside, his heart was pounding. He wasn't ready to be a sire...

Nene yawned again lazily, he may think he was able to hide the worry in his voice and he probally could with anyone but her. She knew her son too well for that. "Alright Featherhead, I'm up. Now stop pulling my tail and tell me what is wrong and if you say nothing I am gonna bite you cause I know you would be lying. You ain't gonna lie to your momma now are you?"

Because he was certainly smarter than a nickname like 'Featherhead' made him sound, the Knight of the Golden Rose bowed his head and shuffled obediantly. Nene might as well be his mother, she kept him out of more scrapes than he could remember... Offered him advice... Told him when he was being an idiot...
"I'm gonna be a father." He burst out, trying not to wail. "I don't know what I'm going to do! Nene! I won't be any good at it! She was a friend... And things got... And now I'm... A DAD! ME! It's a disaster!"

Nene was quiet a moment before sighing "Bend your head down here." When he complied she whapped him across the nose with her paw giving him a stern look "Now you listen and you listen good son, because I don't plan to repeat myself. "
Once she was sure she had his attention she licked his nose in apology "There ain't a parent on this world that ever felt like they were ready to be a parent. Everyone of them sure they are gonna be the biggest screw up in the world as a father or a mother. I know I sure as hell wasn't ready when I ran into a gawky little foal that needed a momma but you will do what ever parent in the world before you has done and suck it up. There ain't no special trick to raising kids hon. All you can do is give them guidance and make sure they know you love them no matter what they do."
She chuckled faintly shaking her head. "You will be fine love, you have a huge heart and some brains once in awhile. I ain't left ya before and I am not gonna run off on you now."

As always Aureate complied without thinking. Nene's orders were orders... He flipped his head up, nose smarting from the whap. His eyes watered and he winced, but he ducked his head back down and nodded, so he could be sure he wouldn't miss a word of what the old wolf said.
He smiled slightly at the lick, nosing her gently.
"You did a heck of a lot more than suck it up and raise a gawky idiot colt, Nene..." His voice was warm, eyes laughing. "But you're a great deal better than me at most things... And I can't help but feel I'll sink where you swam... I don't think I'm going to be any good at this Nene... I don't think I've got enough brains or patience to deal with anything that will happen... What if its a filly? What am I gonna do with a girl? A boy I'd almost understand... But a girl!"
He flapped his wings, looking distressed.

Nene chuckled softly as she scratched her ear, her hind leg thumping the ground. " What you will do is easy son, you will love her, protect her, and teach her." Her smile was gently as she watched her foster son with bright eyes "And like I said son, I am not going anywhere I will help you with the baby. You will be a wonderful father."
