"I am the God of Fear," Kuragari said. As he named himself, the words seemed to echo eerily as if suddenly from a great distance, and the godling's eyes flashed bloodred, reflecting a nonexistent light. The half-moon marking on his forehead glowed faintly before subsiding back into its usual dull silver, and the shadows around them grew darker and seemed to gather about his form in a languorous caress.

But he didn't notice any of this, since he was busy giving the other kit a second, more thorough scrutiny. He had been distracted when he first saw her, but now she had thoroughly piqued his curiosity. This kit had to be the strangest mortal he had ever met - not that he had actually met very many, of course.

She watched as something strange happened when he said his name. "The god of fear you say?" Poison said as casual as her other words. Truly, she had no idea about what gods were or what was so special about them and truly, she didn't care. Her ears flicked backwards a bit.

So this is probably why she liked him, he had something about fear in him. Fear was a good thing to see in others. It made one feel powerful. She carelessly set a leaf on fire as her eyes looked into his slit eyes. Was he truly that scary? Not to her, nothing seemed to ever scare her. When one was born with only the feeling of anger, they had no time for the other emotions such as happiness, or fear.

"Yes," Kuragari said, a bit puzzled by her indifferent tone. His eyes narrowed slightly as he met her stare for stare, but in concentration, not in anger. Like her, he had never felt happiness or fear. Unlike her, he had never been angry either, with a heart of ice to hers of fire. And also unlike her, Kuragari didn't have the need to feel powerful by making others fear him. He was a god, and that was that. Most would fear him whatever he did, anyway.

"Well, you don't do a very good job at being the god of fear, whatever that may be." She said with a small smirk on her face. Ah, the joy of putting others down whenever they felt wonderful about themselves. It seemed to be her calling. Coming back to reality, she looked him over once, now taking in each thing differently. Each thing he had must symbolize something the paw cuffs, the slit eyes, the skull head instead of a jewel, etc. all must have something to do with fear... though, she didn't find any of it truly scary.

His mouth curled up into an answering ironic smirk before Kuragari could stop himself. If she only knew. If she only knew what it was truly like to be the God of Fear. But how could she? He didn't have any control over his abilities - he didn't even know if he had any besides... What was it, anyway? Eating fear? It didn't matter. He could feel the difference between him and this female.

Speaking of which... "What is your name?" The unspoken mortal kit at the end of the question seemed to hang in the air.

"Isn't it better to give your name before you ask for another's?" She asked, looking at his smirk with her usual indifferent face. How would she describe this male... scary is the least possible. Strange... no, he wasn't the strangest being she had met. Boring... it seemed to fit him, but he wasn't all that boring.

She would wait to give her name out to this male. Poison didn't like males all too well, but this one seemed to intrigue her more than the others she had met.

He cocked his head to one side, considering. It didn't really seem to him like he should have to give his own name first, but he was willing to humor her. "Kuragari," he replied finally. "And you are?"

What gave her such an arrogant attitude? She had no immortal blood in her veins, that was for sure, but she seemed to think she did. This kit wouldn't last long with that attitude if she didn't have anything to back it up with. Which was a shame, because it was oddly... pleasing... to meet someone who wasn't afraid of him, who didn't even seem to know who he was. It would be a shame if he had to show her how wrong she was.

"Well Kuragari," she said at last, "I'm guessing you just aren't to be scary... if you are the god of fear you can control when you scare others?" Her eyes looked to his. Surprisingly she liked this other kit. He was entertaining.

"Ah, my name is Poison." The female kit said with a small smirk on her face. Her flame marked ears spun around, listening to anything lurking in the darkness that could easily attack them. Poison sighed and laid down on the ground, not too sure how much longer he or herself would ask questions.

Other Ulaya were often enigmas to him, and this kit was certainly no exception. Kuragari had no idea what he thought of her. She seemed to alternate between uncaring and angry by turns, with no pause in between for any of the other confusing emotions he had seen.

He sighed, thinking of the ease with which his sister Lilith used her powers. "No. Not really. Can you control what your fire burns, or when?" Maybe when he was grown it would be different, though he didn't think it that likely. Fate had surely laughed her heart out when she dreamed up a god like him. "Poison." He rolled the name out, testing it on his tongue, then nodded. "It suits you."

Her eyes narrowed on him again. She would play with him a bit, jut to see his reactions to her. Slowly, she stood up and began to circle him with a hungry look on her face. It was always fun to see other's reactions to her strange ways.

"Well, aren't powers different from fire? Fire has a mind of it's own." She said glaring at the fire on her tail end. Hm... usually she would gladly ignore others, but this kit kept her interested... what was it about him. Poison gently shrugged away her thoughts and nodded to his comment. "Yes it does... I'm guessing your parents gave your name to you?" The dark colored kit asked the god.

The godling tilted his head to one side, following her movements curiously. He flicked one ear as she moved out of his vision, but didn't turn or show any other sign of unease. A mind of its own really was a good way to describe it, he thought. "Mine are different, I think."

"I... suppose." He didn't remember making up his name, and someone had to have done so. "Did yours?"

"Why are you doing that?" he asked as the fiery kit stalked into view again.

Poison watched his head tilt a little. He didn't seem bothered too much by her walking around him. How dull. When she reached the front of him again, she sat down silently. She let the silence sit between them for a second before the dark colored kit spoke finally, "And how are they different?"

"No. My parents were useless creatures that were too afraid to take care of a kit of their own." She answered raising her head up a little. The little kit was proud of having raised herself so well so far.

"It gets the blood pumping in my legs." Poison lied. His reaction wasn't as animated as she had hoped, so she decided to come up with a fib to say why she was walking around him. "It also lets me get a better look of you."

(sorry I'm switching her colors)

...Was she going to say something? That did mean he didn't need to say anything back, but still. There was no understanding some ulaya at all, Kuragari thought. Though when she did finally speak, he would've been much happier with silence.

"They just are." He didn't want to talk about it. Memories lurked at the corners of his vision, but he stared straight ahead, body gone suddenly stiff before relaxing a bit as she continued.

"And they set your tail on fire before they left?" That... made no sense. It reminded him of the squirrel, though, and his eyes flicked up past Poison toward the treetops before settling back on hers. It was difficult to tell, but he thought it had left. Lucky for it. He raised an eyebrow at her "explanation." That was the strangest reason he had ever heard, but he wasn't going to contest it if that was what she claimed.

[That's fine. ^.^]

Poison let a long silence come between them. She sat still for a moment looking at nothing. Her eyes were focused on something in the distance past the god. Slowly, she lowered herself so she was now laying on the ground, her fire burning everything in it's path.

The silence was nice, but she should probably correct his question. "No... well I don't know." Her eyes lowered a little. "If I was set on fire, then my brother was as well." She said digging her claws into the earth below the two of them. Poison laid her head on the ground, letting silence grow between the two of them again.

He watched Poison curiously as she gazed into the distance. Her flames cast a melancholy sort of light on their surroundings, Kuragari thought absently; everything was bathed in a flickering red glow, like sunset come in the middle of the night. Or bloodshed.

"That's strange," he said to her response. Surely that wasn't what they called love. "...Is something wrong?" the godling finally asked, unable to help but notice that she wasn't really glaring anymore.
