((Chane sounds like me now... I've learned to curb my constant theory-making habit at work...))
Azure's own curiosity perked up some, if Little Deer felt uncomfortable explaining she didn't seem to pick up on it, and Chane's admittance that they'd at least tried to figure it out had her burning to ask questions. "Do only other 'taur have... auras? Or colors?"

Little Deer shifted awkwardly where he was sitting. It was easy to see that he was already growing weary of the questions and of company in general, but the guest didn't seem to note it at all. At the next question, Little Deer screwed his mouth into a pondering frown, attempting to come up with as best an answer as possible.
"I...uh...I suppose so. Cyn has a color too. So...I uh...I think there are a lot of things with colors. But I'm not...No..." Little Deer gulped and he attempted to get up, to get away from this situation, but San's grip on his back held him down. He blindly reached out for San's head and he patted it one and twice, giving a nervous chuckle. Moments of time, memory, of when Azure had come, of when they argued, flitted through his mind and before he could restrain himself, Little Deer blurted out:
"Azure, have you come to take Chane away?"
He didn't know why he had said it. But there was an inexplicable impulse that pushed him to say it and after saying it, he appeared...almost scared...Almost surprised by what came out of his mouth and at the same time, he looked like he was expecting to be punished.

Chane chuckled to himself at the mention of Cyn's colour. Coal black would have been his first guess, but then acid green and blood red came to mind. He took a bite of the bread and mulled over it a bit more. No, Cyn's would be most suited to white. Pure and sterile, scentless, tasteless, and cold. He was about to ask Little Deer what Cyn's colour was when the cervi spoke again. Chane's heart skipped a beat in shock, "Little Deer! Why would you even think that?"
He saw Little Deer's face and he turned away, biting his lip a bit.

((Sorry for taking so long... things at work tend to pick up rather quickly and then subside just as unexpectedly. I think I've got a lull of a few days before I may disappear again.))
Azure's teeth clicked with the force of shutting her mouth after letting it hang open in shock. Her eyes darted between the two as she swallowed and nearly composed her face. How to put it? It wasn't that it would be difficult to say she hadn't come at all to do that since it was the truth, but she felt a little more was needed. Something had happened to shake Little Deer's faith of Chane... at least that was how she saw it. Had they quarreled? She wanted to get up and put a comforting arm around the cervi's shoulders but never quite knew what would startle him and what wouldn't Cervi were rather skittish after all.
"Chane is too happy here for me to ever do anything to harm that." Not enough, but she couldn't speak for Chane. If things were going poorly then he needed to speak up. She reached across the table to touch Little Deer's hand but not to grab it in case he drew away. "I would like to think we are friends. I would never do that to a friend," she added.
