"Ice Beam!" Renekai ordered quickly.
"Deeeeellllll.... II!" Bell shot a quick Ice Beam into the jaws of the other Pokémon. Even if it didn't freeze, at least it stopped some of the pain. Bell's wing was bleeding slightly.

Ferrum's eyes opened wide and ducked as the ice beam hit her left leg. "Kraaaw?!" She quickly shook most of it off, but the ice was still growing. It froze up and around her legs, and stopped just past her arms. Ferrum shrieked in alarm, as only her head was free from the encasing ice!
"Ferrum! Hang in there! It will melt soon!" Jackie shouted, trying to get a better view of the battle from between the trees. Oh no! How had this gone all wrong? "Just tuck in your head so the Delibird can't get at your face!"
Ferrum was panicked, but began to listen to her trainer... sort of. Instead, she began to rock herself from side to side, hoping that the fall would break some of the ice off. Her head moved back and forth, trying to gain momentum...

((Right. So, Bell can attack you twice, then you're free. Unless she uses another successful Ice Beam, that is. ;3))
Renekai pumped her fist into the air. "Yeah! Now let's show them what you're made of! Aerial Ace!"
Bell flung herself into the air, her bag balanced carefully on her back. Bell had to dodge several trees before she was high enough in the air to execute the attack. This would be tricky. Bell aimed, then let herself drop, talons extended. She only used her wings to turn away from the trees. Ferrum's back would be in pain if this hit...

Ferrum shrieked in pain as the talons dug through the ice for a direct hit. "KRAaaw!!!" Ferrum clenched her teeth in pain. She could feel the blood seeping through the coldness of the ice... but wasn't as deep as she had thought. Thank goodness. Instead of craning her neck to see her back, Ferrum searched for the Delibird. She could already wiggle her numbed body, as the ice's grip had weakened. Resolutely, she began her rocking movements again.
Jackie grimaced in alarm as Ferrum was hit. However, she could see the fire rising in Ferr's eyes. "Hang in, Ferr! That ice is weakening!" Smiling, she looked forward to when the ice would break.

Renekai thought fast. Dare she risk another Ice Beam? Should she take a chance and have Bell attack? She couldn't decide...
Bell decided for Renekai. Seeing that her trainer was hesitating, Bell sent out another Ice Beam to buy her time. This was unlike Bell, who loved physical attacks, but perhaps the Delibird was learning. Or maybe a ferrum-sicle was appealing to her.

Ferrum creaked left, than right. She was almost at the tipping point! Until she was hit with another ice beam. Oh no! That only froze her more! Wait! The force of the ice beam was enough to push Ferrum over onto the ground. The ice shattered into hundreds of slivers, sparkling like glass. Ferrum crowed in triumph as she rose again, kicking her legs to gain more feeling in her toes.
"Yes! Great idea, Ferrum!" Jackie shouted, jumping in the air. Simultaneously, both turned their eyes to the Delibird. "Alright, Ferr! Let's go for... a good Head Smash!"
Ferrum roared once more before picking up the necessary speed for her to ram her skull into the the squawking bird. She ran faster and faster, pointing her skull at the bird as she shot off like an arrow.
"DOSSS!"

Bell was sent flying sky-high. She slammed into a tree and slowly crumpled to the ground.
"Bell!" Renekai cried out, concerned for her pokémon.
"De..." Bell muttered as she stood up. She wobbled a little. Ouch. That had hurt. Unable to use a physical attack at the moment, Bell shot out another beam. Her only hope was to freeze...
"Hang in there, Bell..." Renekai said quietly.

Ferrum quickly rolled to avoid the desperate Ice Beam. The bird was limping heavily now. Ferrum might have felt a little sorry for her... but that scratch on her back still hurt. She snorted confidently.
"Ferrum! Try another Crunch!" Jackie shouted. She bounced up and down with glee - her first battle was going better than she imagined!
Ferrum opened her jaws wide for another attack, aiming for the bird's uninjured wing... "KRAWWW!"

Bell feinted being unable to defend, but really she was charging yet another Ice Beam. At the last moment, she dodged to the side, recieving only a small scratch. Bell gave a small roar as the Ice Beam traveled out of her beak and at the dinosaur-like Pokémon.
"C'mon, Bell!" Renekai called. It seemed like all she could do was encourage the Delibird. Not that Bell needed it. "If this doesn't work..." Renekai bit her lip.

Ferrum dodged at the last second, only catching a bit of ice beam on her shoulders. She shook it off again, smiling with large white teeth. That small squeak let out by that Delibird was pretty funny. She looked back at Jackie once more, as if for confirmation.
"Keep it up, Ferr! Let's get down... With another Take Down!" Jackie yelled, punching the air. This was all but over!

Bell was hurled to one side, but she managed to keep her feet.
"Beginner's luck!" Renekai laughed. "You'll make a good trainer someday, but don't get cocky! This isn't over." Renekai kept in good spirits although she knew that she'd lose. Well, that was the fun of it all. She'd probably get a rematch, then who knows? Renekai remembered her very first battle. It had been against Luna, and Renekai's beginner's luck had proved its worth. But all good things came to an end. "Give it another shot, Bell! You'll get a reward after this battle."
Better be a good one, Bell grumbled to herself. Bell charged and released another Ice Beam. Might as well fight to the finish... But Renekai was the boss, unfortunately.

"Beginner's Luck?! No way, this is pure skill!" Jackie yelled, puffing out her chest. Cranidos churred softly, giggling along with her. She pulled her eyes from the other trainer and back to her pokemon. "Alright, Ferr, let's go with yet another Head Smash!" she said, pointing her finger dramatically at the downed Delibird.
Ferrum ducked under the Ice Beam, which shot out erratically from the Delibird's mouth. "Craaan-Dos!" she screeched, continuing forward, and charging at the bird. Chin tucked in, legs gaining speed - there was no way Bell could escape now.

Bell, once again, was knocked aside. Panting heavily, Bell looked to her trainer for help.
"No way," Renekai shouted back teasingly. "I've been studying battle tactics for months. You're just a newbie! You're using your newbie powers on us!" Renekai winked widely to show that she was joking. "Brute strength won't last you forever~! But for me, I now know that I need to rely on strength some more." Renekai pretended to be a student who had just been scolded for not paying attention and said, "Stat changing attacks such as freezing and paralyzing should only be used as a last resort because they do not work very often. But," Renekai grinned. "Bell has never fought a Craindos before, so next time you'd better be prepared! Bell's a quick learner. Anyway... Bell, I know you're tired. Those bruises will go away in a few days, though! Up and at 'em!"
Bell grumpled darkly to herself. Easy enough for Renekai to say that... She wasn't the one fighting and getting hurt... Still... Bell examined Ferrum suspiciously. "You're not that bad," Bell informed the other Pokémon. This, for Bell, was an immense compliment. "I'd like to fight you again sometime. I'll show you my mean side then." With that, Bell spat another Ice Beam into Ferrum's eyes. It probably wouldn't hurt much, as Bell was feeling very weak, but hopefully it would be enough for Ferrum to reconsider Bell's weakness. "Headbutting and strength doesn't judge all..." Bell murmered to no one in particular. Bell calmly waited for the darkness to be delivered to her. She had lost this battle, but she wouldn't lose the war.

Hit in the face full-on with the ice beam, Cranidos growled at the sudden coldness. Brain Freeze! But shaking it off was easy, though she might have scratched herself a few times in the process. "I'll be ready for you then, just as I was ready for you now." she growled, standing tall over Bell's bruised form.
"You've learned well, young grasshopper." Jackie said, grinning again. Her voice carried confidently through the forest, as she walked over to stand closer to Ferrum. "You did great. Weak shockwave, now." she murmured, just so Ferrum could hear. The strong Delibird was taking her defeat with honor and pride - very admirable, Jackie thought.
Ferrum felt a tiny bit of remorse for finally vanquishing the brave Delibird - even if she did only try to freeze her to death. She was concentrating on a medium sized ball of electricity when she heard the Delibird's final comment. All remorse gone, she sent out a shockwave a bit bigger than needed towards the resting Bell.
