Ah ha! so now we have more gibson then fender vote i think... but remember, single coils aren't worse than humbuckers... it's all about what you want to play. These are probably the best brands hands down... better than PRS or ESP(since ESP is terrible :p) gibson has a lot of low price models, but strats are better to startT out with. I own a BB king lucille, Sg custom, les pauls... and even a hendrix flying v.

secretly... i do own a fender lonestar...shh!

That is not true. I think that both custom models of both PRS and ESP could kill just about any Gibson or Fender anytime. Its just there assembly line models suck. If you want to play a real PRS or ESP just ask the store if they have any custom models. They're truely amazing!

Fender.

I've played a large variety of different guitars from each, and I don't like the way that most of the Gibson's played for me. Almost 100% of the Fender I have played have been really good guitars. I'm currently saving for one myself, so yeah

fender>gibson

I think for overall quality, the Gibsons take the cake hands down, but you gotta love that fender tone. I think its all about what kind of sound you are looking, I have played expensive gibson LP's but one of my favorite guitars is a tele. If you can play a G&L tele(ASAT) even better.

well it kind of depends,

for alot of different genres and playing styles, Gibsons are really good. and they're features are great. how you have a tone and volume nob for each pickup.

but a strats tone and feel is really good too. i'm really undecided but i think i'll go for fender because it's more affordable and i like the feel of the guitars. plus it's easier to sweep.

Gibson.

I have a Squier Stratocaster which is OK. It's not the horror that people are always painting Squiers as being - it's just a lame noninteresting lousy guitar.

I came pretty close to buying a Tele once, but then I played a high-end Gibson Les Paul, and my desire for a Telecaster went right out the door. My mom wasn't about to start spending $2,000+ on a guitar, though, so that kind of ended that. Although, I noticed that I wasn't as wowed out the second time I played a Gibson Les Paul as I was the first time.

I have never played a Fender acoustic guitar that was worth even looking at and Gibson makes passable acoustics. I once played a 1960's Gibson acoustic guitar, and it wasn't much.

This Is Really Tough Because Fender May Have Less Models But I Think They Have Been In The Buisness Longer So They Would Have More Exp.
Then You Have Gibsons Who Have More Models And More Selection Then Fender.Gibson Has The Explorer,SG,Les Paul,Flying V,And More.
While Fender Has,Jazzmaster,Telecaster,Stratocaster,And Less

But My Vote Is For Gibson Because I Like The Sound Quality And Designs

Anybody who know me here knows that I am hands down a Fender man. I play a Stratocaster, which I personally think is the greatest invention in the history of the guitar. Out of the biggest three guitar types in the world (Tele, Strat, and Les Paul), it is the guitar that has stayed second longest in continuous production. It made most of the innovations that can be seen on many new models of guitar.

I would like to point out that I am quite biased in my opinions. The people that got me started in the world of guitar (Clapton, Gilmour and Page) all played Fender Strats (Page didn't play them often, but he has been seen using a 1959 Strat on occasions).

I feel that Fenders are the best suited to playing many different types of music. Fenders can be seen in the early days of the electric guitar since it's inception, all the way up to now, where the guy from Iron Maiden uses a modified strat, and the guy from Red Jumpsuit Apparatus uses a Telecaster.

These are my opinions, vaguely expressed. Feel free to challenge them all you want. smile

i love fenders for their clear sounds but i have to go with gibson. i have a les paul 50's reissue and i really love it. they have alot more tone than fenders and can be used in any style. the only thing fender has them beat on is clear tone and a whammy bar(which doesn't matter if you get a floyd rose added)

Gibson Les Pauls are pretty good. I can't believe that NO ONE has brought up the fact that Fender will charge you thousands for a BOLT ON NECK! F that! and F Fender too! The only Fender that I would ever want (if I didn't have to pay for it) is the Yngwie Malmsteen because of the Scalloped fretboard. Gibson rapes Fender. Secondly, I don't like Gibson that much any more either. The only one that I like is the Gibson Pro Explorer Flametop. (too bad they don't make it w/ a wider nut). Gibson USED to be the best you could get.

Now, for who ever said that ESP doesn't make good guitars, you're obviously talkin out your A-hole. I think....NAY...I KNOW ESP has better quality instruments than Gibson AND Fender combined. I had a Gibson for 5 years, I played on a Fender for 2 years, and I now have owned the LTD DV8-R for 2 years and that blows away both of them. Man when I play that (ESP) LTD its like havin sex and eatin cheesecake at the same time. its that sweet! xd
