I, personally, am of the firm belief that there is more than just angels and demons walking our planes. Not spirits in the horror movie sense of the word, not really ghosts, but SOMETHING supernatural. Something that we can't see. You know, the things that make the dogs in the house start barking for no reason and have the cats running for cover. I've learned how my manipulate my own energy (not very well, admittedly, but I'm still a beginner wink ), and I can tell when these things are around. The closest thing to a ritual I have is prayer. Christians have incredible power in the spiritual realm (this is, after all, a spiritual battle), if only we learned how to harnass it, and that's what I'M setting out to do. Is this magic? I don't know. I'll let you define it as you will. All I can say is that it brings me much closer to God than I have been before, meeting him on his ground, so to speak.

You and I have a Kinship, the only difference being that I'm stepping into ritual more. I applaud you for stepping forward into the metaphysical, Your mind is more open than most.

I agree also to your comment about this battle. I simply stand on a different side. I stand with God, always and forever, don't get me wrong. But, I declare not a holy battle, a battle between religions, but simply a battle of light versus darkness.

My view is that one must stand in shadow to fight back the darkness.

Prayer I don't see as magic(k). Prayer is like talking. You ask, but you might not receive. But that is the difference between magic(k) and prayer. with magic(k) (by my understanding. And I don't know much about it)is completely under your control(almost). Which means it's easy to fall away. Most people begin to use it for their own gain, or for purposes not of God. I'll admit I don't know if something is of God always, and I think everyone else is the same. We see life through our own eyes, not of everyone's. Sin in a way is bringing harm to yourself or other's, which isn't very holy. as the old saying is:
"Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely" or something like that.

Oh trust me, my battle is not between religions, but for freedom from evil of any incarnation. I'm not here to shove my God in everyone else's face. In fact, I've often been told that I'm NOT trying hard enough to witness. Not true. If you've known me, you know what I believe and why. If you ask, I will tell you. How I live is my testament, I don't think I need more. By doing this to open up myself more to God, I want the other people in my life who are also in tune with the energy philosphies to be able to see God through me that way... see the power and majesty of the deity I worship and want to know more... and then I'll tell them. heart

Damn Catholics. You can't have communion unless you're Catholic; you can't pray to God unless you talk to a priest who talks to Mary who then talks to God; you worship Mary, who is revered as a demigod/thing; they agree with Jack Chick (i.e. D&D and anything harder than accapella is from the devil). . . I can go on and on

Yes, I did post something other than this.

While I'm not arguing the point, I'm still gonna ask... no more denomination-bashing. I don't know who's what in this guild, and I'd really rather prefer it that way. I don't want to start anything between guildies, and at the risk of sounding like Priestley ( wink ) it's pretty against the guild rules to start that conversation. Can we drop this part and concentrate on the good? For me?

As I might have mentioned before, I'm still Researching. All I really to is mild energy work and a Shielding Ritual which, though I don't do anything to attract much attention, I feel I need. The metaphysical world has been very active in my life.

I personally am leaning more towards ritual because I can see the potential extra power inherent in the process. I have a Thriving interest in reading the "Key of Solomon" although, despite knowing where I can read it, I haven't got adobe reader with which to do so.

Other than that I have, mildly, begun researching the angels to call upon within ritual.

For some reason, the "Key of Solomon" sounds VERY familiar, but for the life of me, I can't recall what it is or where I've heard it. Could you send me a link or something so I can get my greedy little hands on it too? mrgreen

One of my best friends has a book of angels, and while I'm not sure much of the information in there is accurate (in fact, the only parts of it I trust are the verses where different names are mentioned), it makes for a good story. There are some really cool angels in that book, with even cooler jobs. xd Have you tried finding the name of your guardian angel? My friend told me she knows the name of hers, and while I'm a little wary of the idea, it's an intriguing one to explore.

I'd like to hear more about your rituals too. I don't think I'll ever incorportate one into my own little dealings, but I love to learn more about other practices.

I'd be a little cautious about all this. Jesus spoke against incantations and invocations and all the hocus-pocus regarding prayer. God does what's necessary, not the person who prays.

What is the book called? I have a pretty good eye for truth in angelology or angelic "works."

The "Key of Solomon" was supposedly written by King Solomon himself. What angelic lore I've read says that The archangel Raphael came to him with a gift, a ring known as the seal of Solomon that gave him power to capture and command demons. The Key is a description of the methods I believe. Good read even if your not going to use it, I could find some use I'm sure given I intend to practice charms and spells tuned to protecting and healing.

(Link to Digital books) Make sure you have adobe reader.

I would love to speak with my guardian angel, but I don't yet have the ability, enough, to attempt to reach out to metaphysical creatures. I'm sure reaching out to my guardian would be easier, I'm just not ready to try.

Finally, for rituals, actually somethings nagging in the back of my mind, I'd feel better posting my rituals in Open Minds Open Hearts.

(Sorry for those who've not heard of OmOh, just don't feel right.)

Hey, do what you want, live the way you want to live. If you choose to dabble in the Magic(k) stuff, then go ahead. Personally, I just want to keep things simple xd . I am simple minded, however, I like to keep things at a low-level. I also find it easier on my faith to just rely on God for everything. That may sound like I'm simply using God as a crutch, but isn't that what we're supposed to do? Anyway, that's just me.

(Sorry if I make no sense. xd sweatdrop )

Supposedly to know the name of your guardian, all you have to do is pray (sometimes to God, or to the angel) and the name will come to you in a dream. I haven't yet tried it, and I don't know if I will. I kinda like the mysterious protector following me. xd

As for the other, I'm sorry if it felt like putting you on the spot. I thought you would PM me. I absolutely didn't expect you to post here. That's a pretty personal thing. *bow* My apologies.

I'm definitely bookmarking that Solomon Key link. The only good thing about my computer coming with Vista is that it comes with all these unnecessary do-dads. Including Adobe. lol

No, I understand where you're coming from, and it's a pretty common stance. There are a lot of people who aren't as laid-back. I don't know if this is from a stronger conviction and need to witness, or if the people who aren't as brash about their faith really do place the fate of mankind in God's judgment. Either way, I'm glad to have your view in the thread. heart

I named my Guardian Angel. I named her Ariel. And no, not after the mermaid.
I just think it's a beautiful name.
