"You don't have to be sorry..." Arcanos murmured in return, licking at one of the other's ears. "It's all right... I promise. Or it will be, eventually... at least I think so," Arcanos went on with a faint smile.
So far as he was concerned... the two of them were destined for each other, in some way...

"It's just so strange knowing one thing but feeling another...." He lifted his head and ran the side of his face against the other's "Like I'm missing out on something... I mean, I can't say I love you, not at the moment but I feel like I should. It's so strange..."
He rose then, and walked away to go into deeper parts of the water and started to wash, "I don't even how I got here or why there's all these false memories..."

Arcanos smiled at that and purred softly, then moved to follow the other into the deeper water. "That's why I'm hoping that you'll eventually remember... but like I said, it's all right if you don't." He would still love the other... always.
"Maybe the false memories are there to protect you somehow... if the transition was traumatic, or ... I don't know. There could be other factors. I remember everything, but I don't know if it's normal to remember or not when this happens..."

"Protect me from what, though? Did I have enemies I'm not aware of....?" He puffed out his cheeks and dunked his head underwater, shaking so as to clean the fur. Then he spread his wings and dipped them into the water, washing them much like a bird does. Water flew everything and he sighed, "Maybe one day..."

"I wouldn't know ..." Arcanos replied at that, ducking with a little kind of squeak at the flailing wings. "Hey watch it or you'll hit me!" he half-whined teasingly, edging in closer again.
"I could help with that, you know..." he pointed out with a raised brow. And before he thought about what he was going to say, he blurted, "Then you can wash mine."
..... Oops. This Cyr didn't even know he had wings. Idiot...

Cyr laughed softly and flicked a wing, sending a small shower of water at the other, "Sure..." Why not? He shrugged and started to turn only to pause and look at the other with a strange expression, "Huh?" Tilting his head to the side, he peered at Arcanos, "But... you, don't have wings..." He sounded very confused and tossed his head as it began to ache again.
Eye narrowing, he backed away and cast his gaze down, frowning at his distorted reflection - the hard fur, no skin, the soft and slightly glowing eyes... "What do you mean?" He lifted his head away from the confusing image before him and looked hard at the other.

"Sorry!" Arcanos said quickly, ducking his head down. He recognized easily enough the signs of Cyr getting one of those headaches after this long... shouldn't have said anything at all.
"If you want me to... I'll show you..." he said though, not wanting to lie about it.

Grumbling, Cyr nodded slowly. "That... what else are you hiding?" He watched the other with a look of distrust, unsure of whether or not Arcanos was indeed hiding anything else. "Why... why do you have win- ugh." He winced as the pounding in his skull intensified. This always happened when something particularly familiar danced on the edge of his mind... and he wouldn't shy away from it this time.
Tossing his head and gritting his teeth, he floated in the water waiting on the other.

"Just a moment, then.... watch," Arcanos said, backing up a bit. He was standing in the shallows now so if he lost his balance with the shift of weight he wasn't as likely to drown or anything.
And then he shut his eyes and slowly called up the memories of his wings ... his own shift was slower than what Cyr might have done, but smooth enough - wings slowly forming from his back until they spread to either side, similar to Cyr's wings except slightly larger and matching the color of Arcanos's fur.

Cyr's expression went from pained to confused to awed and then fell into disbelief. "Shift... you... how?" He blinked, paddling forward only to whimper as his vision faded for a moment and he ducked his head. "Why....?" He shook his head as everything faded, sound, taste, touch, hearing, and lastly sight. It was a strange sensation, as though stepping out of your body and into a cotton ball that stifled everything.
Losing where he was as memory flared into life, far more vivid and stronger then before, he inhaled underwater and choked, failing about both in his mind and physically. Sensations flashed past him, overwhelming him and only adding to drowning sensation. Like a highspeed camera, scene from his life were followed by their meeting and then the life they'd lead after that... the good and the bad.
Coughing and spluttering he attempted to sort out and make sense of what was going on... was this all him? His life... no, theirs?

Arcanos's eyes widened at that and he made a sort of yelping sound, ducking down under the water himself.
Holding breath, he tried to get underneath the other and kind of shove him toward the surface.
But in actuality ... he just ended up getting them both tangled up in pairs of wings - but at least in process, he moved them toward the more shallow part of the lake. He didn't want to kill the other by making him drown!

With Arcanos' touch, the maelstrom suddenly stopped as though his solid presence eased away all the fears and worries Cyr held. Much like how the kitsune had granted him peaceful sleep after they'd met, freeing Cyralthein of the daily nightmares of a time long gone by. Gasping, he flailed some more, which drew their tangled bodies towards the surface, where his head broke the surface and he inhaled a gurgling, watery breath.
Blinking repeatedly as a warmth filled him, the Shifter went limp, holes filling in, and the puzzle as a whole clicking into place. There was a blank, however, in the switch between their life together and his being bumped onto this plane. A few long moments later, his senses slowly began to fade back in and he huffed and coughed, both from the residual pain of the migraine and the water in his lungs. They'd ended up on the sandy part of the beach, almost half in, half out.
When he figured he'd cleared his lungs enough he laughed somewhat raspingly and looked at the other, making no move to untangle their wings, "Saved again... just like that time...." Inhaling deeply, he sort of collapsed against the other, weak from the mental overload.

Arcanos wasn't much better off, having nearly run out of air underneath the other as they both flailed about and he had been trying to get Cyr up to the surface.
Panting, he turned a sort of weary but happy gaze toward the other. "So you.... you remember now?" he asked, ears perking up at that.
That had been.... not something he wanted to go through ever again, but if it meant things were going to get better...

"Mrf..." He nodded and butted his head against the other, "Most... I think... I hope anyways." Cyr met the other's gaze with a smile, "Sorry to make you worry, Love." There was an unmistakable sense of familiarity in his tone that only served to support the other's hopes. Eyes full of happiness, Cyr closed his eyes and rubbed his cheek against the other's, "I don't deserve you."
It was subtle but that feeling of incompleteness had vanished, was nothing more then a memory. Untangling his wings slowly, he settled down closely beside the other. "Miss me, at least?" He quipped, smiling.

Arcanos purred at that and pressed against the other - moving just enough to help untangle wings, since that was likely to get painful after a while. "Don't care if you don't think you deserve me... you've got me," he murmured.
And then a blink. "Miss you? Of course I did! Why d'you think I looked like I did when we first met here...? I was pining away without you~" Of course, part of that was teasing... but there was a grain of truth in the words.
