"I be eated!" Giving her best death scene like all the monsters and bad guys in the story books did, being dramatic about it with some flailing of her arms before leaning back against her brother with her tougne sticking out a moment...before a giggle and conintuing to giggle lightly as he play nipped. But a blink and the giggles stopped when mommy came over with that tone of voice. "Just play mommy." A point over to their playmates as her brother was still holding her up in the sand. "Friends mommy!"
He remained on the bench, letting Sam handle things for the moment. After all the children didn't need both parents to jump on them anytime something happened. A look to the woman who was watching the children as well. "Those two are yours I take it?"

"I'm glad the girls have made some friends," Japi said in reply to the mother's comment, whether or not it was directed at her. But it may have been too soon? But it wasn't her kids getting bitten, so she decided to stay well away, unless Addy and Lilly called for her.
The cry from the other mommy snapped Addy out of her daze and she sat up. She was glad it wasn't her getting yelled at. She wasn't sure what was the matter though.
Lilly stopped in her tracks as well. While she was almost never scolded for something, scolding in any form made her nervous and silent.
She was relieved when it was over and waved happily at the other mommy. "Hi."
It seemed all had been handled well enough when the father asked his question, so Japi turned her attention to him. "Yeah," Japi said with a content sigh. "Those are my two little rascals. We just moved here, so they could attend school, so we don't really know anybody yet." She stuck out her hand. "I'm Japi, by the way. Pleased to meetcha."

Thank god he hadn't gone after one of the other little girls. She'd had nightmares of her children being labeled monsters or dangerous or menaces to society, despite the fact it was Gaia and all manner of strange creatures dwelled here. Inspecting her daughter's hand, she found only a slight scrape from fangs and then nodded. "Just be careful. Don't even play bite, okay?" Giving her son a hug since he was watching her with those wide eyes and patting him on the bottom to push him towards the other kids. She returned the wave and grinned at the little girl. "Hello to you too. You four be careful okay? And if you need anything, we're right over there." Pointing to the bench and then going back to sit down next to Xearus. "Close call but they were just playing."
Feeling much better since he wasn't in trouble, he nodded to his mother and then hugged his sister again before taking off after the other little girls. "Better runs 'afore I eatcha!" Snapping at them with his hands instead of his mouth. No need to get his parents upset and he hated sitting in time out when everyone else got to play.

"Ah, I see. Hope things have been going well for you and yours then." Taking her hand, shaking in polite fashion. "Xearus Calder. And it's nice to meet you too," Gesturing to his wife as she came back over, "And this is my wife, Samantha. Sam, this is Japi...those two would be hers."
Okay so no one was in trouble then? Yay. "No play bite. Okays mommy!" Though she did poke at her brohers little fangs as he hugge her. "No bites." And the plopping belly down in the sand and playing dead like the doggies did for a moment and watching her brother chase other little girls. Feeling she'd had enough she hopped back up in 'tada' arms spread fashion. "I lives! I'ms an angle now! I make alegether eaters good!" Thusly off after the whole little group.

With renewed mental stamina, Addy concentrated on not letting the others' thoughts in her own mind, with decent success. At least it was no longer overwhelming, now that she was ready for it. She was glad nobody noticed. It would have been embarrassing after all.
Realizing there was nothing to worry about now, Lilly ran around too. She hadn't said she was an alligator, but it didn't matter. Getting chased was so much fun. The sandbox wasn't all that big, so occasionally she'd have to run in the grass to get away.
"We're adjusting pretty well," Japi nodded. "At least my husband and I are. He's originally from here, and I'm from," she paused a second. "pretty far away." She laughed nervously. It was a little close. "Glad to meet the both of ya," she said with a grin she said when Sam returned.
Trying to alleviate the other mother's worry, Japi thought to share some advice. "Most kids go through a biting phase," she said naively. "Not that I'd know what most kids do from experience," she said chuckling. "I've been doing a lot of research since having my two." It may not have been right to call it personal experience, but she'd certainly seen enough of her "children" go through that phase. (Whisper's was probably the worst.) But that was all information she wanted to keep from the denizens of Gaia, or at least keep it on a need to know basis.

"Nice to meet you, Japi. Lovely little girls." She smiled politely thought it was sort of funny to hear Japi reassure her when she really didn't have a clue about her children's particular biting phase. She understood what she meant and nodded. "They just think everything deserves to be chewed on in some form or another. It's just like when they were teething."
And just like that his sister was alive again. "I don't wanna be good!" Running after one of the little blondes and capturing her, sending them both tumbling into the sand. "Oops, sorries." He hadn't meant to get her blanket dirty. "I gots one too but it's at home. Come on. Angles comin'!" Standing back up and brushing off his pants, he held out his hand to help her up as well. "Don't wanna gets eated and made good."

Biting phase. Oh Japi had no idea exactly how right she was about that...though the whole phase part wasn't really something their kids were going to grow out of really. "All about watching what they pick up to gnaw at or whom they want to snap at. Nothing to worry about too much."
"But I don'ts eated you! I just petted you like the doggies till you're goooooood!" Still chasing the others around and trying to get ahold of them...which apparently applied to everyone now. Addy was caught first, grabbing onto her around the waist and petting at her hair some. "Now you good! You angle now!" Thusly it was on to catching the other two.

"It ok," Lilly didn't mind her blanket getting dirty, she did it all the time, after all. But there wasn't much time for that, since the other little girl had caught her sister and now there were two after them.
Addy didn't really get it, but it was still fun to chase her sister and the little boy, so she just played along. It didn't take too much longer before she managed to grab hold of the little boy. She emulated the petting and let him go. "Now Lilly's turn," she said in a taunting tone.
Lilly let out a gleeful squeal as she was now the only one left. She held her blanket in front of her as though it were a shield that would protect her.
Japi smiled at the other parents and then turned to watch the children playing. She put away her sketchbook, since the sand castle building scene she had been drawing before had been somewhat interrupted and now there wasn't much of the castle left to draw. Even though she put the thing in her kimono sleeve, it seemed like there was still nothing inside it.

He frowned and shook his head. "Angles don't pet, Lici! They talks to God." But then he was caught and apparently he was an angle now too. Even though angles didn't pet and make other people good. But hey if he got to chase down someone else and make them good as well then he'd play along. Thus after Lilly until he caught her and tumbled down to the sand again tickle-petting her. "Now all angles." Which ruined the fun and the very reason angles couldn't pet and make all good. It was no fun.
Walking over to the swings, he sat down on one and kicked his legs for a moment, then glanced at the bench where his parents were sitting and hollered loud enough for the grown ups to hear. "Daddy! Come push!" Adding as an afterthought, " 'Scuse me and please and thank you!" That covered all politeness bases right?

"Ow'd you knows. You ain'ts sees one!" Because she was the one who was right as far as she was concerned. "It like ben knited! When the queen pets him on the sholers." And that was all there was to it. So there. But soon they were all sitting in the sand and such, trying to catch little breaths and she watched idly as her brother wandered off and called for daddy. A little frown..and then a look to her playmates. "Mommy gots snackies. Wants too?" Pushing up and toddling them to her mother, a look back at her friends as she expectently watched to see if they would follow. Hands on Mommy's knees, pressing up on her toes. "Snacky please mommy?"
And it seemed that was his cue as his son toddled over to the swings and his daughter toddled past him to her mother. He gave her a pat on the head in passing and continued onto his son who was getting himself situated like a big boy. Slight independence age. "Hey buddy, are you making friends?" Probably best to check on him anyway, seeing as he was the only little boy. Giving the swing a little push to get the toddler going but not enough to frighten him.

After being caught, Lilly layed down on the sand a moment then slid herself over into the grass. Grass was much more comfortable than sand any day.
Addy perked up at the mention of snacks. She loved snacks.
Lilly looked over at he sister who looked very interested in the idea of snacks. She really didn't want to be a bother, cause their Mommy could give them snacks anytime, but Addy looked like she was going to accept the offer, so when she stood to follow the other girl, Lilly did too.
Japi saw the girls before hearing the other little girl's request, but she already knew that they wanted something. At the mention of snacks, she realized what it must be. She did a mental check to make sure she had something snack-like up her sleeves--literally. She did, but she waited to see what the girls would do.
Addy didn't think to ask her mother for snacks, since they had already been offered by the other little girl, but Lilly didn't want to be a bother, so she just went over to her mother and sat in her lap, setting her blanket on her own.
"You are covered in sand," Japi laughed and hugged her daughter.

"Queens don't pet sholers. She pokers him with the sharp thing!" Making a stabbing motion as if he were swordfighting. Anticipating his sister's argument, he called out. "Ask Daddy if you don't believe me. He showeded me." Settling himself comfortably, he held onto the chains as the swing began to move and kicked his legs to 'push' as well the way he'd once seen his parents do when they were playing on the swings. "Yeah. Well kindas. Don't know names." Glancing back at him and squealing happily, "Higher Daddy!"
She glanced over to the other mother to see if it was alright and then reached down to the ever present tote bag that had everything she might need for the twins. Pulling out four bags of animal crackers and passing them out then finding two juice boxes for the little girls and handing them over to Japi. "Be careful with the straws, they like to splatter and make a huge mess." Glancing at her daughter, she handed one of the bags to her and gestured towards the playground. "Go get your cup and you can have a juice box."

Sharply she turned a look back to her brother's voice, wrinkling her nose with her displeasure. "Nuh uh Toby!" Because she was right, not him. But her attention turned back to mommy and she gave a happy smile, showing fangs up to her before toddling back to the sand, grabbing both her and her brother's sand covered sippy cups, wandering back to mommy and holding them up, waiting till she took them before taking her animal crackers and trying to get into them. Didn't like people helping her open her crackers.
"Ah let her win. Girls like it when they win." Shaking his head with a light chuckle and pushing a little harder at the boy's request, but still enough to not worry about him falling. "Well, why not? Did you forget to introduce yourselves? Maybe if you told them your names, they would tell you theirs."

Addy opened her bag of animal crackers a little too forcefully and a couple fell out. She reached down to pick them up and eat them, of course, but was quickly scolded by Mommy.
"Uh uh," Japi shook her finger. "They've got germs now. You don't want to get sick."
Addy wanted to tell Mommy she didn't care, but she'd never been sick, so she really couldn't say. Besides, Mommy would get mad, so she kept her mouth shut and ate her own.
Lilly took more time and care in opening her bag so she didn't spill any.
Japi graciously took the two juice boxes and thanked Sam. She made a mental note to remember to pack juices next time. Not being able to create things on the spot was a new concept for her, and she would have to get used to preparing for things in advance. Gaia was much different from Midpoint.
Addy took the first juice box of course, not because she was especially selfish, but more because she was impatient. She was halfway done with the juice by the time the second one was punched in. Playing was thirsty work. She didn't stand still for a second though. Addy danced around in circles while she ate cookies and drank juice, content with hearing the sound of her feet hitting the ground and the crunching sound of the cookies. It made a beautiful sound in her head.
Lilly took the second box juice and sipped on it, hugging her mother's arm tightly. It was a shame she didn't have three arms, so she could hold her blanket as well, but Mommy was more important.
She listened to the bantering back and forth between her new friends. She and Addy never argued like that, mostly because Lilly always just gave in, even when she was right.
With her snack already finished, Addy handed the empty box and bag to her mother. "Imma go swing," she announced and ran off.
"Do you want me to push you?" Japi called after her.
"No," Addy answered back stubbornly. "I do it myself."
Japi chuckled, thankful that at least one of her children was independent. She hugged Lilly.
Addy hopped on a swing next to the little boy and shoved off hard with her legs. It didn't get her far, but she was still happy to be doing it herself.
"I'm Addy," she said, not actually turning to the boy. She somewhat remembered his name, from his sister calling him, but her memory wasn't that good.

"But I'm right, right Daddy? You showded me how she pokers him." It didn't matter if Lici won or not, only that he was actually right. He kicked his legs slightly and the swing went slightly cockeyed until his father straightened it so he didn't knock into the pole. "Inner-doos?" Trying out the funny new word on his tongue. "I s'pose so." He watched her kick her legs by herself and wondered about it but liked his father pushing him. About to tell her his name, she shared hers and left it open for her. "Toby. Nice to meetcha." His parents hammered manners into his head. "Daddy! You were rights!" Then back to the other girl. "What's your sissy's name?"
She took the sand-covered cups and put them in a plastic bag to be washed back at the house, then poked the straw through the top and waited for her daughter to open the crackers. She had an extra bag just in case they all hit the ground like they had many other times. "Sit down next to me with your snack." No need to flirt with potential choking hazards. Sam was a doctor, she worried about those things. "Don't squeeze." Tucking the child's raven hair behind her ears and dropping a kiss on the top of her head. "Does your brother want a snack, Lici? Why don't you go ask him?"
