nobody knows how Bruce lee died,at the time the chinease didnt want their hero to look bad! and his parents wanted his life insurance money!
but a couple of the theories are that he died from either a hyper allergy to a headache pill, or cocaine!! did you know that!? Because I didn't!! some guy sitting next to me in the computer room knows ALL about him xd well according to him there are many many theories though!

There are a ton of theories. The headache pill I've heard is the most likely. Could have been an embilism in his brain or something.

I'm gonna get all Chinese Medicine here.

Lee practiced day and night, and while he took in vast amounts of nourishment, he didn't have an ounce of body fat. Every one of his muscles was defined as though carved from wood by a razor.

In Chinese Medicine this is called Yin Deficiency. Essentially, he was out of balance to the point that his body would take in little to no nourishment. He also had what is called rising heat. If you look at a lot of his later pictures (stills and videos), he had a lot of tension in his jaw and neck. These are symptoms of rising heat...as is an embilism. The headache pill simply increased his blood pressure enough for it to take effect.

He's one of the greatest martial artists of all time, but I don't buy into everything he said. The greatest martial artists I've ever met are Ken Badders (Kyoshi, 4th-dan, Chin-jutsu), and Cary Rossignol (Hanshi, 9th-dan, Kari-no-Michi-ryu Aikijujutsu/Kempo Aikikan Preservation Society). Ken Badders is my current sensei and we are occasionally honored to be taught by Cary Rossignol, who also does Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu. He's awesome.

A picture of my dojo with Rossignol-Hanshi. Rossignol-Hanshi is seated. Ken Badders is immediately right to him in the picture, and I'm all the way to the right. I hadn't been promoted to green belt yet.

I used to think my sensei was a combat god. That I'd never get to his level of skill. It would be impossible. Now I realize that it's a matter of time until I'm as good as he is, and maybe better. But right now, I'm learning from him, and I can't get what he knows anywhere else. He's still the best I've ever seen.

My point is that having heroes isn't just a raising of them to a platform. It can become a desire to surpass, and improve on what's come before. That's the key to evolution. Bruce Lee abused the crap out of his body, and that's a great contributing factor to why he died. There WERE people who could beat Bruce Lee, because there's always someone better. The thing is, he was good, and he was better than anyone who wanted to fight him. How do you improve on Bruce Lee? You take better care of your body, and you train hard. You don't even need to fight anyone to do it. You could be better than Bruce Lee right now, and who would know? What I'm getting at is that it's all well and good to say you have no heroes, but how sad is that? It's not so much that we can't surpass them, but that it's damn hard to do so.

I know this thread was previousely "your ma heros" so there is answers from people, but the thread kinda died and for some reason the "new topic" button doesnt work it just goes back to the guild home page gonk
so here goes : xd

what are ur fav warm ups?

My fav warm up is when its really full on, like when we run around in a circle...round the hall, and on sir's command stop and do a quick lot of press ups, sit ups, etc etc and then go back to running around...when it leaves me pink, and tierd! because its really working me!

ur fav stretches?

I am pretty flexible can do vox splits, and front splits, and the stretch that feels like im achieving most is wall stretching, working with a partner taller than me they stretch me...and I really go to my limit 3nodding
Its the only stretch that I work to my best abilities all the way through, I know I can with normal stretching, but its easier to not stretch so well because it hurts! - Im getting better, im just not that good with pain gonk

ur fav thing to do in a lesson...could be katas, kicking, self defense or a combination of it all?

I adore kicking high, combinations of high low kicking, doing like 10-20 kicks in a row without putting ur foot down, and without lowering ur leg! 3nodding my fav kicks are bicycle kick, turning kick, and side kick..I love working the legs and kicking hard...
I also love doing new katas..but Ive only been over my new one once so far...and I graded over a month ago gonk sweatdrop which is frustrating, but fair enough newbies need lots of attention, and it takes personal attention to go over new patterns/katas...
sparring I love..but Im shy..I dont hit people because i dont want to hurt them so that just leaves them hitting me! its because i hate being hit in the face sweatdrop I will work on it! My aim is to do the next sparring competition...sometimes I get over it and just go for it, thats when darkling has to look out wink

is there anything u dont like doing?

I dont like sparring atm its my weakness! But i will get into it 3nodding

what gets that adrenalin going?

when occasionally I do well in sparring, and cant stop! I just go for it! its so exciting 3nodding

what are ur fav warm ups?

Harder the better. Some of the best I've had have actually been at summer camp, continuous hard work for a good half hour or so, lots of pressups, situps, starjumps, lots and lots of kicking like one hundred continuous turning kicks off each leg without putting your foot down followed by a nice bit of wall excersises. This involves holding a side kick for two minutes followed by two minutes of continuous side kicking, then repeated for turning, front snap and back kick.

ur fav stretches?

Anything that gives me that special cant feel my legs feeling afterward, which usually involves a partner pushing you to the limit

ur fav thing to do in a lesson...could be katas, kicking, self defense or a combination of it all?

Sparring! It totally has to be. a) its great fun. b) you learn more practically. c) you get a really good work out

is there anything u dont like doing?

Set sparring, this involves one partner doing certain set attacks and the other doing certain set blocks and a counter. I hate this and believe its only any good to you if one partner attacks with one random attack and the other has to block and counter with whatever they feel like.
Oh I also hate teaching people who dont want to learn

what gets that adrenalin going?

Sparring!

Masaaki Hatsumi said: if someone asks me what my favourite technique is, I answer; "Why, do you want to kill me?".

In other words, that is not something a decent martial artist should share to just anyone.

I really look up to my Instructor Eisign, because he is funny guy that really knows what he is doing. He helped me settle in and feel like at home when I changed schools to here, and he helped me. I've learned all of this style's forms from him, and in return, will teach him Tae Guk style once I can fully remember them.

My martial arts hero is Aaron Coulson. He was a teacher at my school (I think he's currently concentrating on college), and he got some of the best air I've ever seen. He's this skinny little redhead, and I swear to god he could kick King Kong's a**. Must be the Irish... My littlest sister-in-law had a HUUUUUGE crush on him. I also appreciate that, when he tried to teach me hurricane kicks, he left the room to snicker. Now that's class!

My favorite part of martial arts classes, which I miss in a big bad way, is the brutal warm-up exercises Siheng Chris used to run us through. If it looked like the whole class was keeping up, he'd smile and switch to something even worse that nobody had done ever before, and then calmly walk the rows, smiling and checking posture. He only led the lower-sash classes, though, and I was sad to graduate to more refined teachers. I didn't sweat *nearly* as much during warm-ups after that, and sometimes I'd get there early just to get in some extra brutality before lineup.

anyway in my classes i like to play games that up your senses and stuff like there is this one game we play were you stand face to face with a partner and you have to line your hands up with each other and try to push the other person off balence.or there is another were you can get into a fighting stance with a partner and put your wrists together(you and your partners wrist) and try to hit the other person.(it's fun and a good work out)and there is another one were you can jump onto a chair and land on the balls of your feet.(that one really works your legs)and there is the knife game where you put on a white t-shirt and someone attacks you with a marker.that one is really fun cause everywhere you are marked is where you have been stabed.there are more but i wont bore you with anymore xd

Personally I like to do poomse's(forms, kata's, whatever you wanna call them) mostly because they help both with your technique, balance, and even breathing...and even your Kiaup(sp?) I mean, In korea when I had to do it for my blackbelt, I had to hold my stance strong while doing a loud, healthy kiaup for 3 seconds min. lol now its different but I can't help that.
