Questionable Waffles

The doors swung open and an odd looking pae'il strolled in regally. The adult seemed like a demon, but a ring of golden light followed him overhead. Zephyros wore a posh and well-fitted black tux and a matching black mask; his leathery wings were hooked over his chest, forming a makeshift cloak. One soft red eye swept the room, the other hidden behind a falling of black hair. He looked handsome; he was absolutely sure of that. Whether or not he'd have fun was a different story.

Esmée couldn't help her giggles as she rested her head on Bneut. Of course, she tilted herself in such a way that Bneut could still see her lips move. "Thank you! You look quite handsome yourself, Bneut. I like the creativity you took with your costume." She was the intellectual and he was the creative. It was perfect in her eyes. She touched the painted tuxedo with a grin before looking up at him. Esmée would have never thought of doing that. It seemed so much easier just to buy a costume, but that was her Bneut, and she wouldn't have him any other way.

"It's been far too long. How have you been?" It was so wonderful to see him again.

Sari giggled, "It's nice to meet you too Shale." She said, smiling. Wary of being set up on a date, the teen felt she had lucked out so far. He didn't look bad from what she could tell, nor did he seem rude or mean. "I hate to say it, but you seem a lot better than I had expected from a blind date Shale." The shetani giggled, still blushing. In truth she had been expecting a deformed pae that couldn't walk or talk or something, not a handsome adult.
Hearing his wife's call amongst the crowd, Junior walked his way over to where Ducky was. "Hello Leda." He said, smiling as he bowed. "The beauty of the ball as expected from such a gorgeous lady." The demon stated truthfully looking up at his wife. As funny as his face looked he was sure someone would get a laugh out of it, if not him himself.

Shale let out a sigh and a soft chuckle. "I'm glad that we both feel the same about this arrangement." Placing his mask back on, his wings fluttered a bit before folding behind him. Remembering back to what Seth had taught him, he offered out his elbow. "Would you mind if I escorted you to the punch bowl?"

Calder turned with a start.

"Who me? Haha, I don't think so," he chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head with his hand. "I don't leave the lake very often and I think I'd remember a pretty little lass like you."

The naiad smiled sheepishly at the child. With lack of socialization came lack of communication skills. He had only himself to blame, though the teen rather liked to blame his adoptive mother and her antisocial ways.

He was trying now and that's all that counted, right?

Debi positively glowed at the praise of her appearance, a bright, wide smile appearing on the young demoness' face as she smoothed down the front of her dress, preening slightly. He had good taste. She liked the fact that he seemed shy, too. It meant she could dominate the conversation.

"Well, if you live in the lake, that makes it even better chances I know you!" she insisted. "My papa lives in the lake, too! Hmm... let's see..." she said, and impishly walked around Calder, examining him from all sides, and winking at him when she got back to the front.

"You really do look familiar. But I know I haven't seen you recently. Papa is practically a hermit!" she said, and sighed gustily.

She gently placed her hands on his elbow the way her uncle had taught her, smiling. "Of course not." Sari giggled, holding her mask up to her face, looking even more pearl esq and purple with the dress on. There were feathers in varying shades of purple and pink, as they matched her dress and better yet, her skin. "You're a gentleman Shale."
"I pale in comparison to your beauty Esmee." Bneut said smiling. Before answering her he picked Esmee up off the floor, carrying her piggy-back style. "I seem to have lost my muse until a moment ago Esmee. And you?" the artist asked gently kissing her cheek.

Walking in trying to not be seen was Sunny jones she wore a simple gold mask with glitter on it. though the mask was not the part that made her blush Sunny jones was wearing a dress golden brown in color that Marion had thought would work best with her mothers coloring (this dress but a little more golden in color) Sunnys hair had been brushed and lightly cured and to her complete Embarrassment her hat was no were to be seen.
"Marion, please do not make me do this I do not think I got a hold on my powers well enough yet." she wispered to her daughter who wore a royal purple off the shoulder piece with stars here and there shimmering on it her mask was silver and her hair done up in a bun that sat on top of her head.
"Mom you can do this it is not good for you to stay in side all the time."

Shale could feel his heart hammering in his chest as he escorted the younger Sari to the refreshments table. He could do this, and she seemed like a wonderful companion, besides, Seth was across the room, and if he should start to really get nervous, Seth would come to the rescue. Doing his best to keep his hands from shaking, he poured a glass of punch and offered it to Sari. "You look absolutely stunning, Miss Sari."

Smiling she accepted the drink, glad to have the mask on to hide her blush. "T-thank you Shale. You look really good too." Sari said, still blushing. "You don't have to call me Miss you know Shale... It just makes me keep blushing." the teen tried to pass it off as a miniscule comment, though being so nervous it came out a little rougher than she had wanted it to.

As soon as Magnus caught sight of a couple pouring themselves some of the punch, he began to snicker deviously. Perfect. Soon, they would be drunk, as would everyone else! Celebration could not properly begin until there was a bunch of drunk people all over the place! Suddenly realizing that Texas might hear his snickers, Magnus clamped his mouth shut and looked up at him innocently. "I didn't do anything."

Texas rolled his eyes. "I saw you put the wine in the punch." As Magnus childishly pouted, Texas scanned the crowd for anyone interesting. He would really like to see Hyacinthus, but it seemed that his Cinthy had either not come yet or was not coming at all. Perhaps he should find someone else to talk to in the meantime.

Esmée squealed when Bneut picked her off the ground. Then, she blushed at making such a ridiculous sound as she wrapped her arms and legs around him so she would stay on. "Whenever I'm near you, I'm calm again. Seems like the busy-ness and clutter in my mind has slowed." She kissed his cheek in turn. "I'm good now." How could she not be? With her Bneut, Esmée was content.

Ducky smiles brightly as she was approached by the light of her life, the love of her heart. "Well well.. you know my Prince Charming would be so jealous if he saw me standing here talking to a really handsome guy," she said teasingly as she beams at Junior. She just swished her hips around, the motion cause the plaid to lift up a bit and swish along with her movements.

Shale smiled and poured himself a glass of punch, then gave a nervous laugh as Sari told him not to use the 'Miss' title. "Alright, Sari, I'm sorry for embarassing you so!" He did feel bad, a pretty and kind lady like herself shouldn't have to have been nervous over someone so shy and awkward has he.

It was here that Niday was the first to show, Dayht close by her side. The Day fae had yet again dragged her out...along with her mothers threat to 'pimp' her out. What ever that meant. Her gown was a touch more intricate then the others, having a mother that could sow and a brother that had books on masquerade, though it was why they were late. They had finished the thing maybe a half an hour before... Black with a deep neckline, she held her mask in hand with ease, her hair up in its regular bun to blend in perfectly with the black feathers in them. She hated dresses. She hated dresses. She really hated dresses. Something else she hated though, caught her eye. She slowly made her way to Zephyros, pulling up her mask to hide her cold golden eyes. He had left her lost in Loke nei forest in the middle of the pouring rain...she was none too pleased at him. "Zephyros." Dayht stepped next to her sister, in her own poofy dress made to swallow her legs completely. Well, until she walked away. Where was she going? The day pae sighed and smoothed a hand over the gold embrodery, then feel her bare neck. The little lines of her gold sunburst just peeked out from the neckline of the strapless thing, but her shoulders and throat felt so bare without sleeves. She hid behind her butterfly mask, and stepped out onto the floor. Maybe apollo was around heart

Next on the floor was none other then...why, Erylia. What sort of masquerade would it be without her afterall? Her golden hair was loose around her shoulders again, bright indigo eyes alight. Now picking a dress color was difficult with her, concidering she was so many colors. At last, she decided to match with her hair. This one, her mother had even left the island to go get. Off the shoulders with two straps coming around her neck, the gold and sequened dress sparkled in the light. She reached up to lightly touch the silver necklace around her throat, adjusted so it just came above the neckline of her gown, and then re-situated her mask.

And amongst all these females, a male appeared. Tristen of course in all his flirtatious glory. Clad in simple black slacks and a white button up shirt (the top three of course unbuttoned), he wore a mask as well for the festivities. An intriguing white mask with red lining, a crimson ribbon tying it to his head blending in with his fresh blood hair. He had tried coaxing Adora to come too...but she decided she rather stay with Mom. Odd child. Then again, she had a bad experience with parties. He flicked his collar slightly before walking out into the room, sensually smiling beneath his mysterious mask.

perhaps most fearful of all, was when a face appeared that was so long forgotten. Appeared, but hidden behind a black and red mask, donned with flamboyant feathers. Her dress was deep, and the necklace clinched her throat. Even she had been informed of the ball, but whoever thought she would attend it. Her barbed wires had taken the longest to slip off of her, now hanging on the branch of a tree in Dragnid. Yes, Amara had returned.

He was always a little late to these things, but at least most people hadn't arrived yet. Seems like he had some time. He wondered who else would be here. Everyone. His heart fluttered when he thought of possibly seeing Haru or Tristen or his best friend, Texas Pete. He grew nervous at the prospect of seeing Jazz. This time, he needed to do more to make her happy. He hadn't done enough the last time. That was one of his goals for this new year: Make Jazz happy.

With his little sister in tow, he walked into the party looking very dignified. He wore a very frilly, silky white shirt that one of his mothers just happened to have. It was a little big at first, but they made it fit. The rest he had to find himself: Tight dark breeches, a tailored coat, a purple vest, and the rest of the whole nine yards of his costumes. That which crowned the ensemble was the grotesque and horned mask he had on a stick which he held before his face. The long nose protruded snidely with the threat of poking others. He always liked being a little sneaky when he entered some place.

To complement the other, Eboraria's older brother had dressed her up like a little goblin. After much fussing and compromising, he finally allowed her to not wear the mask even though he had spent so many hours on it. Maybe someone else would like it. She kept a tight hold on his hand, a little finger shoved in her mouth as she sucked it lightly in contemplation of what she saw. This was the first time she had ever been to anything like this. For a while, their parents had taken a vacation to one of the more remote areas of Telrunya. While nice, they had spent too long there not realizing how quickly the girl would grow. Thus, she didn't quite know about this place where so many pae'il ran around. She more far more, however, about the faeries and the little creatures she sometimes played with.

(Shamelessly torn from Labyrinth because the movie rocks so hard. You really can't do a masquerade anymore without at least one reference to "Magic Dance")

She shook her head lightly, "You didn't embarrass me Shale, just flattered me, I'm not used to it." Sari giggled, her blush fading ever so slightly. Suddenly deciding she was thirsty the teen took a drink of the tainted punch, "Does this taste funny to you Shale?"
Junior chuckled, watching her hips move rather than Ducky's skirt. "I'm sure he'll understand." He said, standing up, gently placing his hands on her waist. "After all, you did meet a direct student of the fae pae of love." he chuckled again, though at least this much was true. Uncle Tris had helped him work wonders in charming his gorgeous wife.
The flower pae watched her speak, smiling. "It's good to know I calm you down Esmee. So long as we don't endanger that wonderful thing between your ears everything is nearly perfect." Bneut chuckled, "May I have this dance?"
