Mapiya huffed faintly as she moved into a canter headed fro the ridge that ran along the valley. " Come on! We will miss it if we don't hurry!"
She led him up a short trail to the top of the ridge just as the sun began to slowly set. "Look.." The sun hit the soft frost that decorated the trees washing everything it touched in reds and golds. Lights sparkled on the snowy ground. "Isn't it beautiful?" She whispered her eyes glued to the wonderland spread out under their view.

He hurried after her. She seemed very eager to show him whatever was on her mind. He looked at her curiously, wondering what it might be.
Stepping up the ridge, halting to sudden stop beside her, he watched her face for a moment. It was nice to see someone with such passion in what they thought was beauty. Her attitude alone was convincing enough.
Looking now, to the hued erie glow of the land, he realized she was right. He sighed. It was very warm and inviting as the lands were covered in the suns passing rays. "It is, amazing." he said to both her love of what she saw, and what he witnessed now.

"Come on there is more." Gently nudging his shoulder with her nose, she turned and trotted back off the ridge headed for the lake.
Often she would stop to point out some winter flowers, or urge him to taste the sharp yet sweet berries that seem to flurish in the colder weather. Her eyes all but sparkled as she pointed out things that did indeed seem to turn the deary cold into something to be looked foreward too and enjoyed.

Before he could say something more, she bid him to keep on the move. "O...Oh kay." he said as he turned and followed, her keeping him guessing.
Vasu was bewildered. Had he really failed to take pleasure in the simple things? He smelled the sweet winters flower. Hadn't he walked over some of these without stopping to even note their existence?
And the berries.. Mmmmmm the berries. Where had these been when he had missed chewing on warm blades of grass. These were delicious! He was almost drooling, his eyes closed as he moaned at the flavor.
He would follow her wherever she went. This was far too interesting.

Mapiya giggled at the expression of bliss on his face. He was so sweet and silly, it was a refreshing change from the stuck up smug stallions she had met. All so sure of themselves and their own importance.
"Ohhh shhh look," she peered around a large bush at a doe with two late winter fawns. Both little ones were frolicking in the snow under their patient mother's eyes. "I remember playing like that in the snow with my twin sister. Mother always thought we were going to slip and break out necks but we never did more than tumble into drifts."

Vasu, mouth still munching away, poked his muzzle through the evergreen bush with a smirk. His chewing stopped instantly.
There was a deer family, new with life. Just like his mother and his father had shared over the past winter. He swallowed hard. This was a sore spot for the sea swirled black stallion. He looked under his eyelids and down at the snow, then pulled back through the bush.
He turned his head to the distance, half lost in his emotions at the moment. He was still in Mapiyas company though. Could he pretend to be himself still? Should he just leave?

Mapiya turned to smile at him then blinked noticing his melloncaly look. "Vasu? Is something wrong?" Her ears swiveled forward as she gazed at her new friend with concern. Had she said or done something to offend him? They had just been having so much fun.

Vasu was so tense, he almost jumped when Mapiya spoke. What could he say to her? He was being an overemotional dolt, and he wouldn't let it ruin all his fun..
"Heh, sorry." he laughed nervously, trying to shake it off. His eyes looked to the left of his mind, searching for an answer to dish out. He shrugged. "It just seems nature can easily pick who's gifted with a family, and who's not." That was a simple and truthful way of putting it, without being to in depth about it.
He smiled at her, acknowledging what she had said. "I don't remember too much about playing with my siblings, but I did get to watch my younger brother and sister be born! It was quite a sight!" Just like that, the angst was gone and he was himself again.

Understanding darkened her golden eyes for a moment before she nodded "yes it does seem to be that way doesn't it?" She understood loneliness and the fear of always being alone. As a foal she had only had one true friend and he had left her.... She quickly shook herself out of her own thoughts and smiled again. " I do not have younger siblings. My Twin and I are the babies of the family." She laughed softly remembering how outragouesly her parents had spoiled the two darlings.
