'Nivriti hun, water is a good thing, especially if you get an injury to one of your legs, you can do gentle exercises whilst being supported by the water. I understand that you have a fear of it, but you musn't let it take you over.'

Aishwarya turned to Nituna.
'And you my purple sweet, remember that not everyone wants to do the same things. I'm sure you two can find a fun game to play on land, something you can both enjoy.'

Nivriti scuffed the ground again, her head hanging in the same manner as her sister. She half looked at Nituna.
'What did you want to play?' she asked.

Shikoba watched as Aish took care of the crisis. He was in awe at how good she was with the children. She seemed to be a natural mother. She was so calm with them, and tried to get each of them to see it from the others' point of view. How could he help but admire her?

Nituna listened carefully to her mother. She had a point. If Nivriti really didn't like the water, she shouldn't force her to play there. She looked back at the water longingly, though. She really did love to play in the water. She turned to her sister, an apologetic on her face.

"Well, we could play hide-and-seek or something like that so we don't have to go in the water."

The mini-crisis seemed to have been diverted, and with no tears either! In all honesty Aishwarya was just making this motherhood stuff as she went along, just talking to them in a way she thought was right, treating them as if they were intelligent enough to get what she meant, and not talk down to them as if they weren't as clever just because they were young.
True, neither of them were mature, but treating them in a childish way wouldn't help either. She joined Shikoba's side again, nudging him with her side.

'I would like that. Thank you.' Nivriti said, remembering her manners, despite the fact that she was still in a slight mood with Nituna.
'Who is going to hide then?'

Shikoba made his way over to his favourite willow tree by the water and laid down, watching his daughters. He smiled up at Aish, having great admiration for her.

"That was impressive. I'm not entirely sure I would have been able to stay so calm about it when they were both whining like that."

Nituna thought about this for a moment. She would have liked to hide first, but maybe her sister wanted to hide first, as well. Wanting to avoid another argument, she left the decision up to her sister.

"It doesn't really matter to me. How about you choose?"

Aishwarya had joined him again, tucking her legs in a way that meant she was leant slightly against him, and glanced back over to where her daughters were, keeping a weather out for any more flare ups.

'At some point we were all like that I am sure. Reason seems to work on most creatures, even silly young fillies like ours.' she chuckled.

Nivriti thought about it, her winglets opening and closing as she stood there pondering what was a great question. She supposed it might be better if her sister hide first, she didn't know the area very well, and she was more likely to get lost if she hid.
'You can.' she decided.
'You go hide.' she flopped to the ground, and shut her eyes.
'Gonna start counting in a second!' she warned.

Shikoba nibbled a bit at Aish's ear as she laid down beside him. He still couldn't express how happy he was to have a family with her. As he watched their two little girls, he smiled calmly.

"Aish, I'm so happy that I'm with you and that we have two wonderful daughters."

As he listened to himself, he felt as thought his words hardly did justice to what he felt, but he was sure that she would understand.

"Ok, no peeking!!"

She took one last look at her sister to make sure that her eyes were hidden and bounded off towards a small thicket of trees not too far from where they were. She found a bush laying at the bottom of one of the trees, and flung herself inside. This would be a perfect hiding place! She tried to stay as still as possible so as not to give away her hiding spot.

Aishwarya flicked the ear being nibbled; the sensation was ticklish, and she gave a sigh of contentment as she leant back properly against Shikoba.

'I'm not squashing you am I?' she asked lazily, not really wanting to mood, but if he was uncomfortable that wouldn't be good either!
'I am happy as well, I am glad we are family. That I have a family. I'll never leave you Shikoba.' she said quietly.

Nivriti had been going to peek, but she shut her eyes properly and said indignantly;
'I wasn't going to!' she huffed, giving a small grin.

'One!,' she started counting slowly at first, then sped up as she got closer to ten.
'Twoo...threeee..four...five, six, seveneightnineten, I'm coming to find yoooooou!' she called, scrambling to her feet and looking around, listening as well for movement.

"No, you're fine. Don't worry about it."

He smiled and draped his neck over hers so that they were entwined with each other.

"I'll never leave you, either, Aishwarya. I love you so much. And I love our daughters."

As he said this, he turned to watch his daughters again as they played.

Nituna giggled as he sister responded to her command to not peek. When she heard her start counting, she made sure to stay as still as possible so that it would be harder for Nivriti to find her. She just hoped there were no spiders in here. She absolutely hated spiders.

Aishwarya simply smiled, blissfully content. Not in her life did she expect to be this way; family, and mother. Partner to such a sweet, and caring stallion. She'd seen ahead of her a life of quiet contemplation, observation and conversation with like-minded Soquilis. But not attachments like this. And she couldn't be happier by how the picture had changed.

She watched her children from under half-lidded eyes, the warmth from the close proximity of Shikoba's body making her drowsy.

Nivriti tilted her head as she walked, ears a twitch as she tried to catch any sound of her sister. She sniffed as well, trying to discern whether the scent trail was a new one that showed where Nituna had hidden, or an old one from where she was playing earlier.
She moved towards the small stand of trees, scanning for movement, and then caught sight of mound of rocks. Maybe she was behind there! She trotted off, veering away from the trees, and jumped behind the mound shouting;
'Got ya!' and then snorted, having realised that her sister was not in fact crouched there. She moved away, turning back towards the trees, and started to search behind and around them, working from the edge in, creeping along as quiet as she could.

Shikoba watched his daughters, feeling Aish breathing beside him. As he sat there, in the middle of his family, he was reminded of how lucky he was to be here now. He had come to these lands not knowing anyone or anything about this place. He didn't even know how he got here. He had no other family. But now, here he was with a wonderful mare laying by his side, and two lovely daughters. He looked down at Aish.

"Aishwarya....have you ever thought of having more children? It would be nice to grow our family, don't you think?"

He hoped that this wasn't too forward or too soon. But he knew that his daughters would be adults before he knew it and they would move on to make their own stories.

Nituna giggled as she heard her sister fake herself out at finding her. But right in the middle of her giggling, she felt a little tickle on her shoulder. She turned her head, and her heart stopped...there was a big black spider crawling over her.

She screamed at the top of her lungs and jumped out of the bush, shaking herself, trying to get the spider off of her.

"Heeeelllp!!! Get it off me!!!"

Her head had almost fallen forwards, eyes closed..the jewellery on her head gave a faint jangling noise as she was awakened by his voice, a slow smile spreading on her face at his question.

'When our lovely pair are adults, I think I would be happy to have more children with you. I think it only right that they grow up as our special daughters, and then they can be protective older sisters for whoever follows them.' Aishwarya replied.

Nivriti was almost near the bush where her sister was hiding, when Nituna gave a frightening yell. She jumped about a mile, winglets flapping in shock and managed to screw up enough courage to trot swiftly over to her sister.
'What's wrong, what is it?' she asked, not seeing the spider straight away.

He chuckled a bit as Aish nodded off, then nodded.

"Yes, of course I meant that once they were grown. It would only be fair to them."

He then heard a scream, and lifted his head suddenly. He knew it had to be one of his daughters, and he stood up quickly, forgetting that Aishwarya was leaning on him.

"Nivriti?! Nituna?! What's wrong?"

He rushed towards the small thicket of trees, where the scream had come from.

She continued to shriek and shake around, wanting to make completely sure that the spider was gone. When her sister arrived, she sought out her help.

"There was a spider!!! Is it still on me?!?! GET IT OFFF!!!!!"

She was almost in tears. She hated spiders, and hated when they were on her. The thought of it sent chills down her spine.

'Well I'm glad, I did only just get my figure back,' Aishwarya joked a little. Luckily she was fairly awake when the scream from one of her daughters rent the air.

'Nituna?' she hazarded, getting to her feet from where Shikoba had slightly toppled her. She guessed at it being her purple daughter as she knew Nivriti's voice and shrill filly crys better than Nituna's. She trotted swiftly after her mate.

' 'tuna you have to stand still!' Nivriti managed, in a wobbly voice. Spiders never really bothered her, but her sister was so scared and panicky that it was freaking her out as well.
'Stand still and I can see.'

"It did sound like her. I hope she's not hurt..."

As he rushed into the thicket, a number of scenes rushed through his mind, all of them involving his daughter in a decent amount of pain or in some other sort of danger. But when he finally reached both of his daughters, he saw Nivriti just standing there and Nituna dancing around all over the place.

"What's wrong?! We thought you were hurt! What's the matter?!"

She tried hard to make herself stand still. But her knees were still wobbling. She couldn't get rid of the creepy crawly feeling until she was completely sure that the spider was gone.

"Please find it! And get it off if its still on me!"

When her parents rushed into the thicket, she turned her attention to her father.

"There was a spider on me!!!!!"

Tears were now leaking from the corners of her eyes.

Aishwarya said nothing until they had joined their daughters. Nivriti looked slightly shaken, but a quick glance showed no wounds so she was able to calmly listen to Nituna's frightened words.
She echoed her daughter;
'Nituna, you need to just stand still so we can get it off you.' she spoke quietly, going over to her.

'Breath deeply, and look at your father, I'll see if I can find it on you.'

Nivriti was glad that her parents were here, she wasn't sure if she could find the spider if her sister was so jittery! She didn't even think to make fun of Nituna because she knew what it was like to have a fear of something.
