'Follow me then,' Adrienne replied brightly. She tried not to giggle at the stallion who was finding it difficult to extricate his hooves from the mud. Of course she had to laugh at herself as she hit the same problem, the mud only reluctantly letting her move on.
'So do you have many friends in this area?' she asked once they were on their way. 'I mean I know you said you weren't out here looking for anyone in particular, I was just curious if there were Soquili you knew round these parts.' She'd not met very many herself, but maybe she'd seen someone around that Ardin knew.

"You are the first I have seen in quite sometime, and I don't know this area well. Since I have only just arrived, I spend most of my days traveling, never staying in one place for too long." He said, carefully navagating through the mud, before finally finding a patch of grassy mud which offered better traction. He never quite knew why he always traveled, it had just been what Calantha had done when she raised him, and it seemed silly to stay in one place when there was a big, wide world to explore.

Travelling on grass as much as possible meant that they were able to move fairly swiftly, even if mud did occasionally fly up from under their hooves. Adrienne strove to keep her trailing tail out of the mud as much as possible, not always succeeding though.
'I'm going to need a dunk in the river or the Lake,' she said out loud as they walked along. Her hooves were thickly coated now, her feathering soaked in muddy water. 'This area is a nice one, good scenery, a fair few families live around here. Not too many of the...well the not nice kind shall we say.'
She huffed her mane from her eyes, looking ahead of them to see if she could spot the tops of the teepees from where there were. Not quite yet. 'I don't think it's very much far...what's where you come from like then?'

Ardin walked on fairly quietly, bright blue eyes darting back and forth taking in the scenery, making note of landmarks to find his way back. "Well I don't suppose anyone would raise their families where the bad ones roam. But some of those can't be avoided I suppose."
"Well the first place I remember was a small lake, surrounded by the forest, I suppose it was more of a pond really, but it seemed bigger at the time. I spent most of my foalhood traveling back and forth to the ocean, never coming to the same spot on the beach twice. There we met Merhorses and Kelpi one very busy and strange day." He said as he stared ahead at the tops of the teepees.

'That's true, but as you say, sometimes it just can't be helped. I think if I ever felt that it was the right time for me to have a family, I would raise my children in this area, it is nice.' Adrienne chattered on as they walked, occasionally glancing ahead as the teepees showed more and more.
The scents in the air were changing as they got closer; scents of the people, and their fires, the large one and smaller ones for cooking. 'Almost there.' she said, looking at Ardin, before talking on again.
'I mean, I know my mother would like to see me happily settled, but I don't seem to be able to form a lasting relationship. I mean, I meet stallions. she grinned at him. 'But then I don't tend to see them again. Maybe I'll just end up being an Auntie all the time. What about you?'

"I don't know when I'd like to settle down. I still want to go as far as my legs will take me, and see as much of the world as I can, and that may take forever. I suppose it would work if I found someone to travel with, but then that wouldn't really be settling down." He said with a grin.
"But I suppose one day I'll get tired of it, because it can be quite lonely and boring exploring by yourself. And then with any luck one day be a father." He said, as he turned towards the teepees, quite intrigued by the new smells that were drifting towards them. The smell of fire only a little unsettling to him, because he only knew it as something that should be avoided.

'I love to travel, have you been to the mountains yet? I want to go there the next time I feel the wanderlust,' Adrienne said brightly, turning and giving the stallion a smile. She almost slipped when did so, but kept her balance.
'I think it would be? I mean, if you travelled with a mare and got to know here, and then at the end of your travels the pair of you started a family, I think that might be considered settling down. Well, I think so anyways.'
Adrienne nodded; 'Sometimes you find you start talking to yourself? But I like that there is always some of my family to come home to at the end of my travels. And I am sure you will be a father, they do say good things come to those who wait.' She rounded a teepee on the outskirts, catching a familiar scent. The two-legger that her mother knew was somewhere about, but she didn't head towards it. She moved further in, heading for the centre and the main fire. The ground underfoot was getting easier, her hooves clacked on the stones that had been scattered in the mud to aid grip.

"No I haven't been all the way up the mountains yet, I've only been around the base of them. One day I plan on climbing up to the top, and perhaps to the other side." He said with a glance in the direction of the mountains.
"Yes. They do say that there is someone out there for everyone, and I suppose that is true, since it is such a big world. I am sure I will find her eventually, maybe on the mountain tops, or in the lands that lie beyond them." He said, wondering what sort of Soquili would choose to live up there.
"I can't say that I have just talked to myself, I am usually talking to birds or other creatures if I am really that bored." He admitted after a few moment's thought, he thought he sounded a little odd, though no stranger than someone who talks to themselves. He carefully watched the goings-on in the village, since this was all new to him, he found it all fascinating, even in the mundane tasks that the two-leggers were doing.

'That sounds like a challenge, but also a good goal to go for.' Adrienne eyed the mountains herself, whilst she wouldn't mind scaling one side, she wasn't so sure she would be adventurous enough to head down the other. After all, you only had to climb back up when you headed home!
'I am sure you will, everyone must find their 'someone',' she said. She'd always been optimistic about that, musing that one had to be as they neared the main Village fire, which was roaring away as was usual.
'It's drier here, by alot.' she said, and then nodded with a chuckle. 'I don't know, don't tend to get alot of sense out of other creatures, maybe that's why I talk to myself!' She stood near the fire, feeling the warmth on her damp legs. 'I think we would stay here and get dry, don't you?' she suggested.

"It will be. But I hope that when I do go, I won't go at it alone." He said, stepping slowly towards the fire, since he was still quite unsure about getting too close to it. "Yes, I know she is out there somewhere, I just need to find her." He said before stopping to stand next to her, still not knowing how they contained the fire, it puzzled him since he had seen fire as an uncontrollable force. But then again he didn't really know much about two-leggers and what they could do.
"Well normally you can't get much sense out of them, but sometimes if you follow them, they'll lead you to good food like berries." He said, before nodding in response to her question, already enjoying the warmth of the fire, even if it puzzled him.

'You will, and when you find her you'll know it as well. And you'll be able to do everything you've wanted to, but with the knowledge that it's happening with the one you love.' Adrienne smiled encouraginly at Ardin.
She knew that it wouldn't be her, much as he was a nice stallion, and they were getting on well enough, she hadn't felt that spark that might allude to something else. She hoped that they could become good friends though.
'Oh? Well maybe next time I'm off on my own travels I'll follow a, a squirrel or something when I get hungry.' she giggled.

"Well I hope I'll know it, I am not sure how I'll know it though." He said, wondering how one knew when they had found the right one. Perhaps it was one of those gut feelings, like when you knew something was wrong, only this time it would be when something was right.
"Well squirrels are only good if you like eating acorns." He said with a smile.

'I know you will, my mother said you just know, like breathing.' Adrienne gave a decisive nod, smiling at Ardin.
'So keep that hope alive, she's out there somewhere for you. Besides,' she chuckled. 'Maybe you'll find that love when you're travelling, you don't know who you might meet.' she was feeling properly warm now, a nice toasty feeling.
'True..and I don't really.'
