No but seriously, it isn't well written at all =/

Also, I'm currently reading "Memnoch the Devil" by Anne Rice which I find a bit iffy, not because it's poorly written but because the majority of it is a conversation about God. Seeing as I'm not religious I don't find it very appealing >.<

I agree with you Icrat, so you don't have to run away. I will stand with you and fight 3nodding Honestly, it's the fangirl mentality with this series and the quality of the actual writing isn't even an issue with them. I have seen people fighting over the two male characters and crying and such. It's kind of freaky.

I have to say I was shocked and appalled over Ann Rice's change of genre. I guess the story was after her husband died it made her hope for a heaven and such and now she will never write anything gothic again. It's a travesty.

Yay! I'm not alone ^^

Oh dear, I didn't know her husband died D=
Was her husband the same age as her? Because she's not all that old.
Are the rest of the books like that? I know she made Armand have a religious past but I didn't find it to be as strong a theme as in "Memnoch"

From what I can remember, Rice's husband died within the last couple of years. I had read that she will not do any gothic writing ever again and doesn't even want to discuss her previous books. She has a lot of them too and a lot of fans, so I think it will be a challenge for her to avoid such markable books.

I feel for her and can understand why she feels she needs to do this but it is a loss for the reading community. I have read only about three of her books, so I am fan but not completely knowledgable of her complete works and how her characters are connected.

Honestly, about the "Twilight" series. I have found that a lot of the people who are "in love" with these books are not big readers. They like the story line because it's quick and doesn't take a lot of effort.

Have you read any of Darren Shan? He drives me crazy because he writes well but only these little snippets of books. He could take the whole Cirque du Freak series and put it one large book and remove all the repeatable lines and have a decent book. The story line is pretty cool so I have them all and am also reading the Demonata series....it's really wickedly gross...but again in little snippets of books. Oh and I had the chance to meet him a few years back when he toured over here and he is freaky.

Oh dear.....so sorry to ramble. I think you probably have a migraine now... eek

Not at all, I enjoy your ramblings. They're interesting ^^

If I knew that that was Rice's reason I wouldn't have said anything ^^;
But it is a shame, understandably.

That's so cool that you met Darren Shan ^^
I started reading the Demonata, I bought the first book but my friend's buying them all so I'll just bump some off him...only he keeps forgetting to bring them >.<;

"interesting".... lol That's a polite way to say "off my cracker"?

In my pitiful opinion I think it is kind of odd that Rice would change for the reasons she did. Like does she think writing about vampires and evil doings is going to make it happen? I also think it's the same as someone who doesn't believe in the Christian god but yet if they think they are going to die than they all of sudden "see the light". Sheesh, commitment is getting scarce.

I think you will get to read all of the Demonata before me than because I think we are three books behind the UK area. I did whine to Shan about this but he had no sympathy...he was nice just not empathetic. Anyway, I am impatiently waiting for the next one that is supposed to show up the beginning of May. Once I get that read in the two minutes it will take than I will take on the Angel's trilogy that Kronic suggested...they are kind of big so I have had to wait to start them.

Maybe she had an epiphany? ^^

*gasps*
You should read the Kingkiller Trilogy x3
I've only read the first one, which was rather long but there was only one paragraph in the whole entire thing which I didn't love, and that was because it was "he did this, then did this" etc...annoyed the hell outta me =/
That being said, I think the author was trying to show that the guy no longer felt or thought anyything...maybe...I might just be dwelling into it too much though...my English teacher does that O_O

[OH! I just remembered, I had a dream last night that she died >.>;]

ANYWAYS! Yah, great book. The second just came out ^^
The first ones called "The Name of the Wind" and it's by Patrick Rothfuss.

I highly doubt I'll finish the Demonata before you.
My friends are so forgetfull >.<
I've asked the borrow those books off him for about a year now and he keeps forgetting. I asked to borrow "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" off my other friend who I lend tons of books to. I also asked to borrow "Fight Club" off another friend but I'm not as bugged by that because she's quite cool at remembering stuff ^^

Ha! Now who's rambling? xD
PostPosted: Sun Apr 26, 2009 9:46 am

Ha! I don't feel like such a freak now that there is another rambling talker here 3nodding

Okay, I will look for the King Killer trilogy and add it to my book wishlist. Someone who wasn't thinking gave me a book a day calendar....my book wishlist became much longer after that. There's never enough hours in the day!

If you have friends that lend you books than you are lucky. I only lend mine to two people (well, actually Momo "steals" them whether I am willing to lend or not!).

Momo was wondering if you would make it through the first book of Demonata because it's so, well gooshy, let's say and she said you are not into gooshy. Neither was I but I still made it through smile

Define gooshy? ^^;

If you mean gorey/scarey then I love them both...she might have me mixed up with someone else ^^;
PostPosted: Sun Apr 26, 2009 10:42 am

yep, gorey. I don't know why she thought you didn't like that...maybe she did get your confused with someone else.

I can only find book one of the King Killer trilogy, so I guess I will put that on my order list and than go check out where the others are or are going to be released. Thanks for the suggestion 3nodding

I agree with you about Twilight. It's freakin horrible!

As for the other book, I am religous, but that's a conversation for another day.

Oh, I didn't mean it to sound as if I didn't like it because it had religion in it, I'm extremley open minded and, although I don't believe in a God, I do agree with many of the different religious teachings.
What I mean was that I found it dissapointing as it's supposed to be about a vampire called Lestat who is seen as reckless, to an extent, and throughout the first few books he's been adventurous and has been breaking rules and such. This book is basically a long conversation, I'd feel the same if it was about something completely different from religion, and so it's boring and a let down in my point of view >.<;

I don't see how people can read those crappy Stephanie Meyer books, I lost a bet about the Uglies series ( Which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be) and I was forced to read the first 3 (Only those were out at the time) and I couldn't even get through one chapter without picking up another book gonk I read summerys so I would be able to answer her obnoxious dailey quizes.
