Boney tails tightened their grip upon the Reaper's scythe, clicks and cracks sounding as though glass were being shattered. The skeleton's bone were far from silent, though it never bothered him. If he wanted them to be silent, then they would be, but most of the time he cared not if they sounded off as though a person had been thrown down flight after flight of stairs. His ears fell straight, the maggots upon them even seemed to still...at least for a moment.

"That is normally not something that you get to choose." he spoke, his voice dry, as his gaze remained unmoving, unblinking. Such were the wonders of not actually having eyes. The little orbs in his skull could blink, but it was not nessasary. "You are aware that it is my job to make sure the states of living and death are balanced, do you not?" His claws tapped gently upon the ground, awaiting to see what the female would say.

Her own ears pinned back to the insult of sharp cracks made by the tails. Like the groans and creaks of arthritis, it made her frown. Such an annoying sound. Seemed like a decent reaction. Or one most expected. With only his blue flames of sight to convey how serious he may be. Her own orbs blinked coolly, ignoring the tone of his statement. Yes, yes she knew. It wasn't something normal, but it also wasn't something impossible. That was one fact of 'life' that she had come to realize. A state of being that only few managed to claw to, be it unaware or striving.

One arm moved as she turned with a straight back, before bowing lowly infront of the other. "I'm not so arrogant as to not know your role, Reaper." Not, who was she to say what he was to do? All she could do was play her role, and see how far it got her in her state of timeless threat. "Balance?" Her chin tilted up to the other. "Then tell me, am I to be renewed in this world? I still hold the memories and strives of my old life. Are they to be lost to ones of this new life?" Or would she be left to skin and bones? Then what, pray tell, was the point of this new skin she adorned?

A spark of curiousity appeared in his eyes as the purple haired female bowed. It had not been something he had been expecting, and certainly not in this day and age. Respect for the Reaper had dwindled over the years and it was certainly not very often that someone would actualy bow before him. It was something he did not quite expect for himself, but something that certainly made him feel good. It was nice to know that people still had respect for him.

"That is not my place to say." he uttered, waving a paw motioning to her that there really was no need to bow. "Though what does it matter? If you were to forget your memories you would make new ones. What is so important?" The skeleton was aware that there were certain memories that people liked to hold onto, one they did not like to forget, and yet some memories faded to nothing but a whisper. He'd never quite understand it.

"If you were to retain your memories, what then?" his ears perked up, two chubby maggots falling to the doom. "What purpose would they serve you?" The Reaper clearly needed to immerse himself in the world of the living again.

Respect? Perhaps. Maybe even with a tasteless hint of sarcasm. Who could really tell? The bow was soon ended, Setsu standing anthromorphic once again. Whatever her reason, Setsu preformed her action without sound or fault. No, most certainly no concern to be held facing death. A lack of will to live helped see to that. Determination and deviance, however, was another story.

Not his place to say? This caused the female to glance boredly to the side. Was his duty then only cold-blood killings? No bother with such details of each of his guests? Her tails thrummed behind her dully, some scales catching the faint light of his ember eyes. "What. Does. It. Matter." It was like ready a foreign language on paperback. "Memories are just as tied to me as my dna. Without them, what's to explaing the reasoning of my actions?" It wasn't meant to be answered, just acknowledged. Maybe even understood, but just maybe.

The female kitsusagi stared back to Death without gesture. So many questions of why. Of maybe's. "That's what I'm asking you. At this point, what would be the death of me? My form, or my memories?" Which would hold more value, or more purpose? "Is my kitsune life expected to end too? Even without its own, seperate developings?" Damn Leon Kennedy for not leaving her dead in the first place...

The Reaper shruged, his scythe shifting behind him. Yes he had seen many accounts where memories did indeed help to explain a person's actions. She certainly had a point with that, but still the desire to hold on so tightly to a memory was lost on him. Perhaps one day he would fully understand that need, that want, but for the time being the skeleton could simply not understand it fully. His memories, well they went on forever, Death couldn't simply die after all, and really with all that he had seen, he wouldn't have cared if he due to some event from those beings higher up then he wished to take any of those away from him.

He mulled over her questions quietly in his head, blinking only once. "The death of you." the skeleton's teeth clinked. "A bit of both I would think, although your memories would certainly be the stronger cause." The scythe shifted yet again. "As long as you can recall bits of before your time had run out, and as long as you remain in a body who's time is also spent, there is a problem." his tone seemed to grow dark for a moment, though it would have been rather hard to catch. "Seperate developings or not."

True, what use was memories to death? Just find, swing, and the chore was done. No strings attached. But Setsu was certainly not death, had had too many strings trailing behind her. Thing was, they were snipped, no longer of use in this world. So now what? Kitsusagi ears flitted to his voice, his sort of guidance or opinion.

"A problem." She smirked grimly. So that's what she was, is that it? Seemed fitting. Her muzzle scoffed gently as she turned her form away from the other. That scythe was shifting too much for her enjoyment. "Well then, I suppose all that's left is I take my leave of you. Yes?" Questions or not, his opinions wouldn't be her priority. She'd make a run for it if she had to. Just because the Reaper of the Kitsusagi world made a choice, that wasn't her whole fate. Not if she had any say.

The Reaper canted his head to the left, as the female turned away. "As refreshing as our little chat has been, I'm afraid I can not simply let this go." The glowing orbs narrowed within his skull. He could not simply allow her to just leave like that. Not knowing what he did. Yes perhaps, from time to time the skeleton did turn a blind eye, humanity was a weakness of his. It intrigued him, and puzzled him. And something that just so happened to have saved a few people. Or in some cases, caused for the Reaper to give them more time when theirs had run out (though this was an extreamly rare case, as the Reaper was no allowed to do such things and could very well be replaced for doing such). Still, the female's time had run out, and although he had enjoied their chat, her problem was his as well. His job, his purpose and basic reason of his existance called for action.

"The fact that your time was already used up before. The fact that you are still in a matter of being. -That is not balance. And it is in my job to corect it." The tip of his scythe hit the ground, the snow around it seeming as though it simply had never existed, as the blade glowed a faint blue, before returning to it's previous non-glowing state. His claws gently tapped upon the ground, as he remained where he was, his gaze nor his skeletal body moving. Waiting to see what the other would do, what the other would say? Perhaps. Or perhaps it was something else.

Paws stopped in their stiff tread, the female turning her sight back on the reaper. Her gaze held the same narrowing as did Grim's, though for the opposite reasons. Trust death to get a job done. But if he hadn't successfully laid claim to the first attempt, then who was he to try again? Thinking he could come here and snatch it back, instead of waiting for it to be naturally delivered. Well, as naturally as an undead's death could come to. Point was, Setsu as not a female to lightly give away something of value.

"Oh, but I find it a balance all in its own. But, if you can't agree to such a theory, well..." Indigo hair tilted as she shrugged without concern. For all she could see, she was interupting any balance just as evenly as the next character. So her lungs didn't work; it wasn't stopping her any. The sound of a fallen blade made her eyes slant to the scythe, maw twitching. "Like I said," tails gave a solid slap, scales scrapping the ground, "I'll take my leave of you." And she waved leniantly with her paw, dismissing herself from the encounter. There was no emotion to be held, only the faint sense of getting her way. It was all she could do to ensure her 'surival'. And if she treated death the same as any other individual, then then she was maintaining a hollow balance, of both other's safey and her own wellbeing.

Death listened as the female spoke of how her being was balance in its own. Why it always came down to this the Reaper would never understand, then again a part of him was able to relate in some tiny way. Arguments, theories, always trying to get out of what the skeleton had said. That was especially bad in philosophers, annoying things those philosopers were. Even if the chats were almost always incredibly interesting. Always fighting Death, though he supposed they were better then those that challenged him to games.

Shoulders shruged, as the blade of the scythe was slowly lifted back up from the ground. "And as I said, I can not let this go." The Reaper took a few steps forward, his tails slithering over his scythe, changing the position of how it was held. "You don't honestly think you can keep running from death do you?" the look on his skull remained serious, except for a very miniscule crook in the corner of his jaw. The male was prepared to take action, though he was on a time limit of sorts, there was a certain appointment he had to make, rather soon.

The female continued her tread, aiming in no particular direction. But this area now reeked with the promise of death, and Setsu had to leave. Her fur was still prickling on end. Sounds of metal made her ears slide back, the kitsu giving a faint tilt to her head. The robe was still a dark shadow in the corner of her eye, even from this distance. He refused to dismiss this meeting? Such a persistent nuisance of duty. Just like her own..

Eyes narrowed as the other moved, not at all gliding like most imagery believed. But...walking; as if it was a stroll in the park. "Run from death?" The horned female swayed her body to the side, half facing the other with a poker face. "Maybe. But only with purpose, not fear." No, she'd gladly seek rest and closure with the other's offer. What else was there to interupt such a peace? Her goals. Her unquenchable need for revenge. Once that was done, then she'd welcome death with open arms.

"Good day to you, Grim." Paws lifted softly, and the kitsu clapped the two together. There was a groan, that was gurgled to an end as the loose sand around them kicked up and veiled their surroundings. The air was now brown and orange, masking the female kitsu's dash for escape.

User ImageThe skeleton continued to follow her, like a shadow almost creeping behind her. His strike was rather casual, his feature's calm, and yet his scythe was still raised, slowly being griped tighter and tigher. Had the weapon been alive it would have certainly passed as it was constricted. His steps soon stilled however as the female turned towards him, well somewhat. "Hmh, purpose.." the Reaper rolled the words on his tongue...Well not quite so literaly, as Death didn't eactly have a tongue, he wasn't actually juciy enough to have one of those. Or perhaps the word was 'living'.

The Reaper could not say that he was not taken aback as sand picked up in the air, as the female clapped her paws together. Crap. He had forgotten about those with powers, and these days there were quite a few of them. They were so much harder to send over, especially when they had powers in their control they could use to fight back. The female however was not quite fighting back, as much as masking her surroundings for an escape. "Don't think that I can not see yooou~" his voice dripped with a darkness, a voice that would send chills down anyone's spine. It was a voice you really did not want to hear.

A skeletal paw lifted as he placed it down before him, orbs glowing brighter and brighter. He shook his head as sand pressed against it, a scowl on his boney maw. A few more steps, and a few more shakes of his head. This sand was annoying. A low growl rumbled from within, annoying yes, but she did not realy think that it would stop him, did she? Death was not so easily- eyes widened, as the Reaper froze, almost like he had been struck. Duty called. Another growl passed his maw, as he turned his head away. "..this time.." he muttered under his breath, before he simply seemed to fade away.

---------------------------

Not far from where the Reaper and the member of the undead were, was a rather odd clothed male. Clad in blue, a hood over his head, and a skull looking mask upon his face. A different outfit then his most common one, but this one also lacked all the weapons, less weight. All he carried with him with this attire were two guns and a strange bracelet of sorts. Brown speckled tails flailed wildly as the merc practiced kicks, and various other attacks, both in the air and on the ground. Training. Something Tony seemed to have a lot of time for recently. Simply because there were barly any job in this world did not mean he'd stop training. He wanted...no needed to remain in top psysical condition.

The orange orb around his wrist began to glow as a object appeared in the grips of one of his paws. One of the first things the merc did once gaining paws was make sure that he could still utilize his weapons. The object in question this time was that of a circular sheild, much like that of Captain America's and cerainly one of the Taskmaster's favourite things to use. Gripping it tightly he launched it, the sheild spiraling towards a tree, soon lodging itself into the bark. A grunt, eyes squinting, and soon the energy formed sheild dissapeared. He could still use some work.

The run had been made one four legs, despite Setsu's disgruntlement to such adjustments. Speed was never her best attribute, but at least in this form it stood a better chance. Ears laid pinned to her skull, listening more behind her than forward. The ground was giving her no signals, no warning of Grim's approaching. But at this moment, she couldn't rely fully on that single talent. It'd be an insult to regard the other character so easily. And Setsu wasn't willing to ease up just yet.

Paws pressed foward, and even with such distance made with so many obstacles, her lungs and features remained placid. There was no bloodflow to ache from, or adrenaline to thrive from. But the fur on her back was still standing up...

A whistling noise made her blink in questioning, and her two-toned eyes sent the message to her mind. Just barely. The female skid to a stretched halt, her indigo hair slapping her face in the action. Eyes were set wide to her realization of her surroundings. Right beside her, not a foot away was a tree, now carved into with a circular metal object. The kitsu laid frozen to the spot, noting the object's disappearance, but gaze set on the one who owned it. Who...was that?

Yellow eyes widened for a split second as a purple blur came running from the distance, skidding to a halt right next to the sheild he had just launched at the tree. What a narrow miss for them. How fortunate, any closer and they certainly would have collided with the whriling sheild; which dispite being made from energy, was oviously quite solid. Well at least for as long as the skull faced merc wanted it to be.

Tony's eyes narrowed, his gloves tightening and then growing loose once more as he wiggled his paw, claws tapping against the ground. The one where his sheild had been was certainly no one he knew of, though he didn't really know too many people. Of course such things were of his own fault, but he liked it that way. It was bad enough having to put up with Wilson in this world too, so really there was no want in him to find any other friends.

A scowl formed beneath his mask, and had he been wearing his other outfit, it would have shown. However this mask was void of any emotion, masking his, save for what you could see in his eyes. "
Hey!" he called to the other, taking a single step forward. "Idiot, watch where you're going! -The last thing I need is some dead chick on my hands." Tony grunted, his tail fliping before growing still. "
'Least not if I'm not getting paid."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 25, 2008 5:33 pm

Setsu remained glued to the spot, her eyes still opened and dull in surprise; not in this present. What....was that? Why did her throat feel choked? There was no longer a need for such sensations. Had she actually been...stunned? Holding her breath, so to say? A paw shot up to her ear, easing when she grasped the familiar weight still clinging to her ear. It was still there. Then what?

Eyes narrowed and she scowled at this stranger. She had no time for petty insults. For all she knew, she was still in a fatal race. Paw lashed back down to the ground with her other, scrapping the ground with dissmay. "Idiot, am I?" She halted and turned her sight behind her in silence. No time for this arrogant kitsu. "The only one that will be dead is you if you don't step aside." There was only the woods before her and behind her. On both sides the tree line dwindled noticably, and she needed as much cover as she could get. Firm and confident steps pressed forward, Setsu ready to plow into the other if need be.

A hiden brow arched, the merc's head lowering ever so slightly as he watched the female reach for her ear. Honestly, you would have thought she had never had any close calls before, but then again there wasn't that much fighting in this world, so perhaps she hadn't. -Still there was really no reason that Tony could see to seem so, what was the word? Starttled? Stuned?

His gaze followed her's as she looked behind, what, had she been running from someone? The male's brow remained arched curiously, it would have explained as to why she had been moving so quickly before, but then again she could have simply been late for something. How was he to know. Whatever the reason, she had interupted his training something of which he was not too happy about. And now..?

Threats.

Tony couldn't help but chuckle at her. Was she really threating to kill him if he didn't move? Hilarious, most of the Kitsusagi he had met had very minimal, if not rather animalistic (well it did make sense) fighting skills. Nothing really worth his attention. So the female before him did not register at all as a threat in his mind. "
What's your hurry?" he questioned, not moving from his place as she pressed forward.
