I know Obama's health care plan calls for all children to be covered, and I think he wanted to do a set-up similar to what congress gets. But, I don't really know how congress's healthcare works, so, I'm not entirely sure how much insurance companies are involved, as opposed to the government being responsible for this.

His inner-city focus on education greatly appeals to me. Having attending inner city school (when I was very, very, very, very young) I know that it needs a great deal of improvement. It was horrible there. Most people I know who started off in inner city schools, were soon pulled out by their parents and signed up for catholic schools (the only other real option where I was living at the time.) The inner city schools are the ones suffering most under No Child Left Behind, so, I think they deserve the extra attention.

He scares me less than the other guys and he's got a very hopeful message. At this point I'm ready to give him the benefit of the doubt, because we can certainly do far worse.

Yeah I agree about schools. The inner cities have been ignored for so long. That's one reason why I was mad at Oprah for doing her school thing in Africa. I mean it's great and all but we have kids here who need help just as badly. Why can't she do both? I'm sure she has the money ya know? I remember during the 2004 election MTV2 had this hiphop special thing and they showed inner city schools and they were just awful. It looked like they were in Iraq or something. sad Congress seems to have a good health plan but if there's still even just a slight involvement with insurance companies it's still liberal. This was John Kerry's proposal in 2004. Seems people are still using his ideas. I wish they would give him credit. sad

Well that's always true in politics. God forbid if we get a president Huckabee!

Why not support Mr. Obama, is my question. He has every quality that could really take this country out of the pit we've fallen into, thanks to King Georgie. He has charisma, has a solid political background from what I hear, and he actually cares about the unheard youth of America.
The irony: My family consists of Conservative Christans, white supremacists, among other things.

Because I share the same beliefs with him on so many key issues to me, he has a lot of charisma, and I like the fact that he'll attempt to improve education, which is something we desperately need. 3nodding
Also, although he is incredibly liberal, he isn't polarizing.

Senator Obama's message is exactly what I've been dying to hear from a presidential candidate: unification and change. No more of the "if you're not with us, you're against us" hype of the Bush administration; a better chance of Republicans and Democrats not just working together but acknowledging each other's existence beyond petty name-calling and squabbling.

My father said to me once when I broached the subject of Politics with him (something I rarely do): "Obama has interesting ideas, very good ideas, but he doesn't have the experience that the other candidates have."

I say experience has had its chance. The experienced have been in control for long enough, and nothing has come of it. Pass on the torch to ingenuity, to cooperation, and to the next generation of politicians and voters.

That is why I'm voting Obama in '08!

I agree with his policies, for one. He and Clinton both have my support there. But what really made me turn to him was his voice. He is an amazing speaker, and it was words that shaped this nation, not "experience." He would make a great president.

I support Obama because he is not going down in the dirt like McCain. McCain has been rolling around in the dirt bringing up issues such as Religion and mocking Obama's beliefs. We live in America, where we are suppose to be supporting the fact religion has no place in the government, and that no one can disrespect you for your beliefs. I also support Obama because he knows what we average americans are going through. He understands our hardships and is doing what he can for the people, rather than what he can do to improve his political power in this world.

Well, I was told in college that I'm the worst kind of voter. Liberal. I vote Democratic and although I'm worried about Barack being the next president I'd be horrified of McCain, since he looks like, talks like and walks like Bush.

Haha, you should move here to California. We'd welcome you with open arms. razz

I've supported Obama since day 1. What caught me was his ability to speak and make the situation this country is in seem hopeful. That is basically what Obama means to me: hope. He has plans and ideas on how to end the war, develop cleaner energy, univeralize health care, give same-sex couples the same benefits as married couples, I mean, the list is ENDLESS. McCain? Psht. What has he said?? All I've EVER heard him say is "Vote for me because we can't trust Obama." or "Obama is Muslim, don't vote for him." Now, obviously, I'm exaggerating what McCain's said, but I seriously haven't heard any ideas from him.

And don't even get me started on Palin. evil ugh, I HATE her. McCain ONLY put her on the ticket to bring in the Hilary supporters! Yeah, let's vote for her because she's got the same genitalia as Hilary. PLEASE. >_>

As you've noticed, I feel very passionately about this election. mrgreen Obama 08!
