WinterBean

WinterBean
I felt like that before.

Once last year, we had to write an opinion essay, and I wrote about my beliefs and how I felt that just because I didn't believe in the general religion (which around here is Mormonism) I felt alienated.

And I myself, or like you. I believe in science and evolution. Although I do kinda of like the ideas in the religion often used by the Greeks, in which there are several different gods.

Anyways, we had to have someone else in our class read it,
and this boy in my class and I rad each other's.
And promptly after he read my essay, he proceeded to tell me that everything that I believed was wrong, and I was stupid for believing it.
After that it was really awkward to be around him.

The Mormons where I live scare me.
They're very...-ahem- aggressive in their beliefs, that's a light term to put how they treat others.
Even to Christians such as myself they are pretty nasty in how they discuss, treat, or talk to me.
It worries me.

That opinionated essay happened with me too.
Some boy read my essay on anime, and he completely belittled me and told me "girls who like anime, are fat, ugly and probably smell."
Needless to say I felt like crap the rest of the day. -_-

Most of the mormons here are pretty nice...
Although there are these two morons boys in my school who scare me.
They told this girl in my grade Nina they were going to rape and kill her because she was Jewish.
I do believe that one of the boys has been recently put into Anger Management.

I hate it that we have to be critiqued on our opinion in school.
I mean, it's our thoughts and beliefs that count for the paper, not theirs.

DUDE!
That is soooo wrong!
@_____@
Nobody should say anything about what other people believe.
I would never try to convince someone that there religion is garbage or anything. That would just hurt someones feeling...Argg! That makes me mad!

I find that most of the time it's just easier not to talk about religion. It's not exactly a good thing, because i'm Christian and my youth pastor says we're supposed to try and save people and all that, but it's hard to do without pissing someone off. Almost impossible. :[

I hate it when people belittle my religion, or generalize, like iliyo was talking about. Seems like a lot people who aren't Christian just automatically assume that we hate gays, anyone who has a different religion, anyone who sins, etc. etc., which is absolutely ridiculous. The Bible says hate the sin, not the sinner, and nobody is perfect. :/ I don't hate anyone because of their beliefs.

In my other guild we used to have a big problem with that. People thought it was ok the talk crap about Christians, because "oh, there's none of them here, hurhurhur!", i guess. It's gotten better now, thankfully, but it really made me angry there for a while. I don't talk crap about other people's religions, i don't see why anyone has the right to talk crap about mine, especially when they know absolutely nothing about it.

[/rant]

I totally agree with you.
Lol.
I hate how some people hear about your religion and right away think they already know you with out speaking to you.
Pisses me off. lol

I know that sometimes people will hate you for not being their same religion. My Aunt Sandy is no exception. She thinks we're all going to hell because we don't read the bible 24/7 and we don't go to church. She called me and I was cooking dinner and she had the nerve to refuse to get off the phone until I prayed on the ******** phone with her. I almost burnt dinner because of her! D<

I don't care if people are of a certain religion, really. What I -do- care about is people trying to force their religion upon me and give me s**t about not being their religion. :/

Woah....

Well, I have to go to school (need to get ready).
I was kinda scared that something bad would've happen if I brought up the topic "Religion".
I'm glad we were all able to just discuss our feelings towards some people that cannot be open-minded and be all narrowed about what our belief is.
I really love PPS and you girls. crying

I guess that I just believe in stuff I want to. Sort of like a pick 'n' mix of different religions. I believe in evolution, the 'big bang' and stuff like that, but I also believe in reincarnation. I don't believe in a 'greater being'; that's the main thing I disagree with about religion. Amongst other things, the thought would make me feel uncomfortable.

I have no problem with people who are religious, apart from when they try and force their religion onto me. My mum is a christian, and openly disagrees with me, saying that she refuses to believe that the universe started with a huge explosion; (to which I informed her that the 'Big Bang' is a misnomer- to which she gave me a dirty look, and said 'you know what I mean.')

But I'm perfectly fine about that. That's her belief.

---

However, one time I did get quite annoyed... I'll tell you what happened.

Basically, in an RE class last year, the teacher told us to split into two groups- religious, and non-religious. I went to stand with the non-religious (the majority. There aren't any christians in my form, but there are some muslims and one hindu.)
Then one boy said to me 'Hey, I thought you were christian!'

This really p****d me off. Now, as I said, I have nothing against christians. However, at my school, it's assumed that christians are 'goody-goodys'. I suppose that I am the form geek, but that's completely based on intellegence. (see what I did there?)
And so I started ranting at him.

I'm not sure exactly why that annoyed me so much, but it really did.

Religion. Oh goodness. If you aren't a Christian where I live, you get burned at the stake. O.O

And all of my friends are hardcore Christians. I would lose alot of friends if I said I didn't believe in God. :/ It's pretty bad.

I wouldn't say I'm atheist, because that's kind of a religion itself, but I just don't have a religion. I love science and believe in evolution and the big bang, so just please don't hurt me.

In my area, most of the Christians I know are so close minded. It's not even funny. Like at lunch on the Silence Protest, there happened to be a discussion about abortion and the sort, and I was stating my view, which is everybody should have a choice. You shouldn't be able to choose for somebody else. And so they're all, "Still, you're killing somebody." And I say, "I'm not telling you you absolutely have to get an abortion. It's up to everybody else who's pregnant. Worry about you, not everybody else."
"But still, you're killing somebody." :B
Sometimes I swear[i/] they're goddamn broken records. >c

Whenever one of my friends drags me along, I go there and there's free food, right? I don't know if you guys have noticed, but they are so manipulative about getting you into their church. People haven't usually had breakfast yet, right? The church either provides breakfast for them or the families individually go out to a restaurant and have a huge breakfast there, linking church and
with a reward, food. And the lock-ins, they make the kids stay up all night (screwing up their brain development, mind you) and then in the morning when they're all tired, they make them do this big prayer thing. It's so weird, they wire it into their brain.

And the forgiving thing. One of my friends whose a hardcore Christian (recently converted) was almost ran over by a car, purposely. She's not exactly the good kind of popular...>.> And she forgives the driver. She FORGIVES her. For almost killing her. Yeah, that's totally and completely logical. :/

And then I hear people talking about how they need to save people. It's their choice, just leave them alone, please. :/ It's just a bit insane. And I hate it when people talk about religion and how being a Christian is SO great. It's like they're bragging about being rich. And it makes me so uncomfortable.

No offense to you Christian penguins, though. I just don't get to vent about this because all of my RL friends will just burn me at the stake. And then drown me to see if I'm a witch. :/

I don't get uncomfortable
But I do get like... scared?
Because, I'm afraid I don't know enough
To answer the person's questions
(In my religion, we meet,
And we go preaching~)

This one time, when i was 12 or 13?
This guy, he saw us meeting for service, right
Then one day... he sees me!
And I'm with a classmate (different religion)
And he starts asking me all kinds of questions
About Armageddon, 144,000
And a bunch of Revelation stuff!
And I'm standing there, trying to explain,
But he keeps going in circles...

Oooh... I HATE when people go in circles...
Or just want to ARGUE with me...

Like my classmate once...
He was just being an... ... ... LOL jerk...
Seriously...
Making fun of it, and everything
(At the time, we were sort of close friends)
So, I finally just left,
because he wasn't interested in UNDERSTANDING
Just making it look stupid D:

So yea~

Yeah, I know. My mom hasn't talked to her in like a year because the last time she did, she laughed and accidentally said "Oh, God" and my Aunt Sandy got SO offended, like my mom had called her a c**t or something, and proceeded to give her an hour long lecture before screaming something at her then hanging up. And my mom hasn't talked to her since xD

So you have to constantly wear a mask in front of everyone. That has to be hard for you....not to be able to speak your mind freely, without anyone fighting back at you.
Where I live....there are a lot of religious people, but the close friends I have are always open-minded about religion.

That reminds me....This mourning my friend asked me when Jesus was born (Kind of a dumb question) and I told them that "Scientifically" Jesus was born Around Sept. 15th, they said no and that he was born on Christmas Day and I said "Uhhhhhh..." and they were like "Its written in the Bible."
They really need to read it over.
D':
I wish that I could bring the bible and ask them to find "When Jesus was born" in the Bible.
And they kept repeating themselves and stuff...Like you said "He keeps going in circles."
They keep going in circles till you give up all together and you can't say anything because you get frustrated...well...at least I get frustrated when they do.

WAHHHH! Just now my Aunt Olga just gave me an old movie that I wanted in a while!
"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

Sometimes I think the super-religious people pass out pamphlets on "How to win religious arguments" and one of the things they tell you to do is go around in circles until the other person gives up =o=

Yeah, that's kinda like me. I am not sure about whether there is a God or not but I feel very weird when I talk to people about how I am not sure. Especially my friend Lindsay, she is very religious and after I told her about what I think, then she started acting a little weirder about some things. She invites me to things from her church and then is sometimes like ummm, like trying to confince me that they only do a little religious stuff and I really don't care. I've gone to church before, I don't care about a couple services, I'm polite enough to follow along and stuff. I guess it's kinda hard to explain.

Also, 666 is supossed to be the mark of the Devil. So I've heard.
