Xiaodan slowly lets his hackles relax as he smiles tentatively at Bast, feeling this odd emotion that is called gratitude toward her. He is not sure how to react to the emotion he is experiencing at the moment and he watches Bast with keen curiosity now. "Of course not.. nobody would want to follow a poor leader." He nods as he turns toward Bast with relaxed aura around him. He doesn't look like a pompous arrogant stallion he used to be before he met Bast, he actually looked like a stallion that is eager to learn things and change himself.
Only thing that probably won't change about him is his vanity. Xiaodan turns his head toward his wings and inspected them to make sure there is no dust or grime lodged between his pristine wing feathers.

She tilted her head to watch him, brow lofting slightly. "Tell me then, Xiaodan... What do you think makes a good leader? What qualities should you have in order to lead others? Besides a radiant appearance that they would be able to spot for miles?" She smirked softly, almost teasingly.

Xiaodan blinks as he looks at Bast in confusion because he is not sure how to reply to her question. "Well... " He began his train of thought as he moves back and forth in a small line in front of Bast. "The traits I would look for in a good leader would be compassion, patience, understanding, willing to go the distance to protect the ones under his or her protection..." He trails off as he squints his eyes while thinking more. "The good leader will need a good head on his or her shoulders, wisdom and.." he takes in a deep breath as he smiles crookedly at her. "humble personality.. not big or loud personality like mine." He says in self-deprecating manner. He snorts as he rolls his eyes at her teasing question. "Well bright coats can be necessary if the 'charges' need to find their leader from miles away!" He teases back

"Not always humble." She chuckled softly, actually smiling once more. "Just humble when the situation calls for it. Different situations call for different things, yes? If you were to lead a herd you might need that loud voice to command them. You might need your pride to make them feel proud. It is a big responsibility, you know... You must know when to use all of those things... And when to be yourself."

Xiaodan looks thoughtful as he process Bast's comments in his mind, he could see what she meant by her comments. He lifts his chin up as he smiles at Bast with a nod. "Now I get what you are telling me..." He tilts his head to side slightly to absorb the words and figure out how to apply those advice to himself so he could improve himself. He really wants to be a leader but at same time, he want to live in his delusional world of being a god.

"Most importantly, I believe, is that some will view a good leader as being very close to god. They will follow you with all of their hearts if they believe you to be worthy of following... Whereas some might just laugh at a foolish god." She nodded slowly.

Xiaodan's face lit up, almost like he have seen the 'light' when Bast mentioned the magic word which is 'God'. He beams widely at Bast with an eager look on his face. "You do have another very good point there.. do you have any more advice for me, Bast?" He looks at her while settling his wings against his body. He is very excited because he is actually learning things from this mare but he doesn't want to act like a colt right now.

"Any more advice? Hm..." She pondered for a moment, closing her eyes as she tilted her head towards the sky. "Do not let it go to your head. Remember to be a good leader first. You'll learn a lot along the way, I am sure." She nodded slowly, turning another soft smile to him.

Xiaodan nods as he looks at Bast with a smile on his face. "Thank you very much for all of the advice and information you gave me. I will make sure to keep those information and advices close to my heart and apply them to things I do." He nods sagely as he sighs while he spreads his wings out. "With your permission, I would love to call you my friend and come to visit you once in while." He bows gracefully, showing Bast that he genuinely do respect her. He never bowed to anybody before and plainly refused to because he thought it is degrading to a stallion of his nature.
