I just found out today that our drum major marched in the honor band thingy at the rose parade. He wasn't a drum major there though, he played clarinet in the band. I don't think anyone else from my school went, though.

Aww...it's okay...suggest to your band director to have an excessive amount of repititions and do scales! (if you don't already.) eek Trust me, it works!

My band's a dinky, small little band, so we can't. We're all jealous of this other school, who's got like three hundred kids in their band. They got invited to the Rose parade, but they couldn't go because they couldn't afford it.
We got new uniforms, because we needed them. They were really expensive, but we had to raise the funds to get them. But this band at this other school, the same one I was talking about, got new uniforms RIGHT AFTER WE DID... but they got them donated from somebody! How unfair is that?

I love the rose parade. I marched with the honor band last year. my BD said that he wanted our band to march in the next one but I haven't heard him say anything about it lately. Do all of the bands get reviewed at the same time? Is it too late for my band to get reviewed for 2006?

even though my band is like uber awesome, i dont think that during the next three years im part of it i'll be able to go to one of these huge parades.
we dont even do the small parades......except for homecoming. suburbia isnt the best place to hold parades.......DC is, but they never invite us.

The only chance my band has of marching that parade is if our footballteam makes it to the Rosebowl.... *shakes fist* I miss UW's glory days as a football school...

I marched with the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band, Colorgaurd, and Herald Trumpets for the 2003 Rose Parade as a marching clarinettist. Let me tell you...that was the hardest thing I have ever done musically. I twas FRIGGIN tough. But I'll tell you something...the music ROCKED, the comradery was AWESOME, and the parade route was tough; just the way marching band was supposed to be. I was a senior in high school when I marched. It's a totally hard trip, but it's totally worth it.
Oh! Someone mentioned something about BOA and the Rose Parade. Not true. Making the finals doesn't win instant Rose Parade. That just raises your chances of being picked. There is actually a commitee just for choosing the marching bands in the rose parade. They go around to the best high school marching bands in the country (no matter what size they are) and present 15 with an offical Tournament of Roses Parade flag bearing the updated emblem for that year. That flag is their invitation to the Rose Parade. The school then has the task of raising enough money to get to the Rose Parade in Pasadena. The selected bands then perform a field show for the Festival of Bands which is held for two days, three days before the parade it's self. Just some info for all ya'll.

A few of my friends have marched in some kinda Honor Band in the Rose Parade; probably the same one p-chan08 marches in. Heh, not to be a stalker or anything, but I read your profile - Altadena, right? And it's just a band that takes kids from the area. So yeah. I'm real close, too - I could probably walk to the parade route. XD Or at least the tournament house. <33 It's reallyyyyy pretty.
Dunno if I want to be in that band, though. I don't like marching.
