LoQuinn watched as Storm's Eye went about destroying his missile rather than avoiding it. It spoke volumes in that he dealt more in brute force than overall tactics. Whatever the case was LoQuinn knew that he had to stop Storm's Eye from not only hurting anyone but from getting away as well. It was definitely a good trick to use his powers for a modified form of flight. However LoQuinn couldn't help but notice a few things that stood out. Firstly Storm's eye hadn't yet released multiple bursts of power. Secondly with his mouth channeling what had to be a fairly strong amount of power. Thirdly he was looking down, thus unable to see attacks from above, that was unless he had eyes in the back of his head.

An idea came to mind and dodgey as it was there was little chance anything else would work. Head on attacks had failed because he'd made them far too obvious and met some poor luck initially in the street. It was time for some tact. His arms came up to cover his head and he cowered against the display's back. It was all a feint meant to distract his opponent from the unseen about to happen.

LoQuinn's power stretched out grabbing to what he could, what would listen. Dust fell from the ceiling above Storm's Eye and it gave an ominous groan, threatening to collapse. On the floor shapes changed in the debris, no doubt unseen due to all the ruckus.

Perhaps if there had been sound to hear, Storm's Eye would have noticed the groaning of the ceiling above him -- he was certainly close enough to do so. That wasn't a possibility, and he didn't seem to notice the serge of the ability he now had. LoQuinn was right, Storm's Eye wasn't skilled in quick thinking and observation. He was simply too narrow-minded.

He did not come directly for his opponent, but he did move his head to blast toward Graveler before sending a stronger, more concentrated current downwards to shoot him upwards as he meant destroy both the opponent and make his escape in practically the same moment.

Poor Storm's Eye, so caught up in his own self that he didn't notice the ceiling crumble overhead, didn't see stone fragments from LoQuinn's previous attack form into jagged points. As the section of ceiling fell several of the spikes flew to their target. It was the hesitation, the attention being spent on LoQuinn rather than retreat that was his undoing. LoQuinn simply wasn't taking any more chances, Charles' orders be damned. At least it would be quick, one of the spines aimed to pierce through the back of his neck. And then he'd be crushed beneath debris.

LoQuinn rolled to his right, through the shattered glass and plywood of the display holding his hands over his ears. No point in ending up deaf because he didn't take a simple precaution. He didn't stop there he kept rolling hoping to get as far from the epicenter of Storm's Eye's final attack as possible.

There would be time for guilt later. More than enough time to explain to Charles why lethal force had been justified, why he'd destroyed so much city property. He'd have more than enough time to beat the s**t out of the old geezer for putting him in this position to begin with.

Graveler's plan would have been perfect, if he'd actually been correct in calculating Storm's Eye's supposed hesitation. No. He was sent, helter-skelter like upwards from the double blast he'd just shouted out. This was nothing like his more controlled flight earlier. It didn't currently look like the villain had much control over his flight pattern, or over the fact that it made him look like he was tumbling around, except that he was going up through that hole he'd blasted earlier. But he was going up quickly, and those spikes missed, just baa-aareely skimming below his feet.

Storm's Eye didn't miss what had almost happened as he went up. Yi--iiick! Yeah, he was leaving now, up and out and getting out. The great advantage of flight was that he would eventually be able to, like he'd wanted to in the first place, get somewhere where he could disappear into the crowd and become more anonymous.

He hadn't wanted the confrontation. All he'd wanted to do was to destroy the town's emblem.

OOC:
You can continue or now how you'd like, though I don't see Graveler as being powerful enough to go after him, really. Also, I doubt Grav's out without at least some minor injuries, flying back like he had.

*scritches head* I realized that I've played Storm's Eye's power off wrong. His focal point shouldn't be through his voice, because it's not a voice power, it's more "catch and throw," using the air and whatever else around him as a medium. Hah, I need to stop thinking of a Banshee-type character, because he really isn't. Ah, well, little harm done, I don't think?

((I was figuring on some decent bruising to his back, possibly rib injuries and small cuts and such sustained from the glass/plywood making it through his leather coat. Displays aren't terribly sturdy things, however LoQuinn still hasn't gotten to his feet again which says something for someone as movement oriented in combat as LoQuinn. He's going to limp/crawl off before the authorities peg him as the culprit.

I was thinking he was a variant on the sonic banshee type too. Mainly that he had to store the sound waves and then release them. Only force based rather than relying on pitch. Ah well.))

Anger was flooding into LoQuinn as not one, but both of his attacks missed. The stones lodged themselves into the walls and the floor got a fair bit messier. He cursed as he saw Storm's Eye vanish above. He'd had him, had the man right within his grasp and somehow he'd managed to slip off. There wasn't an excuse, it was simply ********. It wasn't a victory, not by a long shot. Storm's Eye would only come back to finish up what he'd started at some later date. On top of that he realized that he'd still have to explain not only the mess but now his actions and their possible ramifications to Charles. At least if he'd had a body to bring back there would be some kind of success that had been made.

He let out a groan as he rolled onto his stomach and brushed the debris off of his arms. He was still covered in powdered cement and dust. There was the innate knowledge that the pain he was feeling would be ten times worse tomorrow. He crawled slowly to one of the counters and pressed against it hoping to slowly work his way back onto his feet. Where the hell was backup? They'd been watching him right? Well now was as good a time as any for them to stop playing voyeur and start doing something productive. It took a few moments but LoQuinn made his way to his feet, and gave a quick assessment to the damage. No one was obviously hurt which was a good thing, he'd figured there'd be pleas for help if that were the case.

Then, as quickly as he could, LoQuinn made his escape. Hopefully he could pass himself off as one of the department store witnesses until he got back to somewhere safe. Then he could extract whatever bit of dirt was on him.

((If you want to do a debriefing once he gets back to the NSA that would be fine. I think Charles deserves a piece of his mind. XD))
