I know exactly what you mean.

Vampires are overrated. The best romance I have ever read between a human and an almost-human is still Carrot and Anguas relationship in the Discworld books. Why? Because the writer (all hail lord Pratchett!) dealt with all the issues surrounding it, damnit, and even made the werewolf a believable person for that. Hell, she's still my hero.

That, and the writing style is just... meh. I could not get into it. It's just to bland.

@_@; I still don't know what the book is... It doesn't look that appealing, though :/

It isn't at all really. :/

*Dances* I wish Edward was played by guy who plays Anakin Skywalker xp

I liked twilight, new moon and eclipse, even if Bella really gets on my nerves and her relationship with edward well it's more of a psysical attraction thing... My fav charas on the books are Alice, Jasper and Jacob. Still I like the books even if I dearly despise Bella xD

Hmm, and here I was considering asking people if it was worth reading a book found in the teen fiction section when my level's over in regular fiction...Perhaps I'll take the first book to the back room and see how painful it might be to read.

Yes, I'm a bit of a masochist...I love the vampires, so I read the books even if I can't stand the way things go.

I love Twilight! I'm completely obsessed with it, but I NEVER read books, so that's saying something =P

The beginning is boring until Bella meets Edward, so just keep reading until it gets interesting, I suppose...

There's a little too much detail in certain areas you don't need detail, so that's probably why its boring to some people

According to a coworker of mine, You Suck by Christopher Moore is supposed to deal with the issues of a relationship between mortal and vampire pretty well. Note I have not read it myself, but I trust my coworkers' judgement since we all work at the book store for the books. smile

So I checked out Twilight in hardcover from the store (we're allowed to borrow the hardcovers occasionally) and I'm reading it...it's sometimes interesting with the way she presents vampires (though I have NO IDEA why they sparkle in the sunlight - really, what the hell?), but the characters themselves seem a little trite.

It's a best-seller, in other words, it's the Hollywood of books. It's like another DaVinci Code, when you read it you feel like you're eating at McDonald's or something. I'm not even going to pick it up... It involves vampires, which are eh, a best-seller-romance, which is yuck and a poorly written and described text. I know what to expect from it, I need no more.

Also, to whoever said book-movies sucked, well, about 80% of movies or more are based on books. How can you say any of the two Lolitas are bad, Or "No country for old men", etc. There are even movies that are better than the books, like "The Shining".

I don't see why you guys don't like it. I loved that book so much. It's my favorite. I love all of those books so much. I don't really know why but i did. Like most of the fan girls i did fall in love with Edward but of course i'm waaaaaay over that now. I still don't see why you guys don't like it. It's full of excitement and romance! I've always hated romance but for some reason i loved it in Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse.

Alright, so I broke down and borrowed the books from work to see what the hype is all about. I've come to the conclusion that the books are popular because the plot is similar to a stereotypical preteen fic on quizilla. I have a hard time believing that Edward and Bella are actually in love (Jacob and Bella seemed to have more chemistry). The action is kind of...predictable, which is one thing I hate about this series and every vampire romance novel in existence, and all I can say is at least it wasn't a vampire hunter that went after her in the first book. :/

And why the hell do the vampires sparkle in the daylight? I've giggled at the stupid parts of the stories and yet the entire thing makes me sad for the vampire genre because it reminds me just how much it can suck (no pun intended).

I almost think that you'll like the books more if you aren't pushed into them. There is a huge Twilight mania at my school, but everyone just said maybe once to me, "Hey, you'd like this book..." but that was it. So on my own accord, I bought and read it... and against the odds I really loved (quite possible I loved Edward, but oh frickin well). It also might help if you're into the whole genre of vampires, ex. I am a rabid fan of Moonlight, the new CBS show about a vampire (IS FANTASTIC btw). Just my take on it.

I read it out of sheer curiosity and I actually found that I didn't mind it.

I mean, the prose used is pretty simple, Bella and Edward's relationship is unrealistic and the plot is predictable, but cute.

It's a sweet little read, though >w<

And it's already provoked an interest in reading that would have slept dormant in some people. So that's one good thing that's come out of the popularity~

I shall... stop ranting. Aha xD
