"I..." Her eyes went wide as she turned to look at the other mare, wondering if it was that clear what she'd been thinking of. If it was she would have to be certain to never think about it around her mother or father least they find out. "... How did you know that's what I was thinking about?"

"Oh, you were?" She laughed softly. "I was just commenting on the fact that i don't have any and well, it's nice to be tucked under someone elses. It's comforting." She just needed to never tell Acheron that. He probably wouldn't appreciate it.

"It is, isn't it?" She sighed softly, relaxing once more as she closed her eyes again. "Sometimes I wonder if that's how my mother feels when she is with my father... And others? Other times I think too much and find myself hoping that I'm never as dependent on a stallion as she is... Shouldn't... Shouldn't you be on the same level as the one you care about?"

"I would think some times it might be nice to get taken care of for a bit." Not all the time, that would get borring, but some times. "Every once in a while ... i think i'd rather be on the same level usually though."

"I... Don't think I could respect a stallion, or anyone else for that matter, if they didn't respect me..." Her face fell for a moment as she shook her head. "I'm sorry... I'm just thinking out loud again. I tend to do that without thinking more often than I should."
She sighed softly as she tried to bring herself back to brighter things, not at all liking the feeling of being tied down by whatever emotions were spinning her thoughts. "Mordecai's right... I shouldn't get lost in my thoughts..."

"They can still respect you and want to take care of you some times." She nodded slightly. "I'd think it would be a nice way to show that they care. As long as they didn't do it all the time." That sounded about right. She thought her parents respected each other but she knew her mother liked being taken care of instead of being the one to do the caring.
"Mordecai? Is that one of your friends?"

She agreed with that to a certain extent... But she didn't think that was the sort of relationship her parents had upon looking at it from an outsider's point of view instead of the point of view of a doting child. It did not make her care for either of them any less, of course, it had just made her think.
"Yes..." She nodded slowly, unaware of the fact that her voice had taken on a sort of dream-like wistfulness. "There's just... Something about him. I think it's... That he was my first friend... Or maybe it's how warm his smile is... Or the way his feathers seem to smell like the breeze that comes in from the sea."

Her head tilted slightly at the other mare's last words. "He .. comes from by the sea?" That sounded like Acheron's family and he had said he had nephews and siblings. "It is a distinct scent, have you ever been down to the beach with him?"

"I... Don't know. I've never asked him where he's been or where he's just come from... I just know that scent and that, somehow, it's him." She looked towards the other mare once more, trying not to become too tense at the questions she was asking. She didn't know why Kalosyni was asking them... Perhaps she knew Mordecai too? "I've... Only been to the wall with him. It's somewhere deep in the forest; not far from here. I... Haven't seen him since then."

"Oh. I'm sorry." She wasn't trying to make the other mare feel uncomfortable. "I was just asking because my friend, Acheron, he .. his family, lives down by the sea. He told me he has brothers and nephews so i was curious if maybe Mordecai was one of them. It would have been nice to run into someone else who knew them"
She smiled brightly at the other mare. "If it is him i'd bet he's still around here somewhere. Acheron said his nephew spends most of his time in the forest."

"He's... Never said much about his family." Her brow furrowed slightly. It never seemed like they talked long enough... Always so fleeting; making her thing more than she should once again after he was gone. "How is it... That someone you barely know makes you feel... Almost as if you've known them forever? When forever is such an awfully long time and you're not nearly old enough to have seen that many days yet?"

She was quiet for a bit as she thought about that. She'd never really thought about her family like that and she wasn't sure she'd ever let herself think about Acheron in any way like that.
"Maybe you just .. fit well with them and since you think the same you feel like you know where they're coming from so you feel as if you are closer to them?" Could that make you feel like you'd known someone forever?

She did fit rather comfortably beneath Mordecai's wings but she was almost certain that wasn't what the other mare met... She wasn't even certain that she would still fit there now that both she and her wings had grown into her body. It was just one more thing to think about, in the end.

"I .... i've never really thought about it that way." Her tail flicked idly behind her as she pondered for a moment. "I do like spending time with him and he is very nice." He did seem strong enough that if she needed protecting from anything that he could. "I do look forward to seeing him when we run into each other ..."
She just hadn't seen him lately because he'd made her promise that she'd wait for him to come find her this time since it was only fair that way.

She sighed softly, closing her eyes once more as she drifted back into a moment of thought. It didn't seem as if anyone had the answers that she was looking for... Maybe she was still just too young to understand this sort of thing... And here she'd thought that she had done so much growing.
The weather had kept him away longer than he would have liked. The storms had gathered on the plains separating the forest from the sea making it difficult to travel if not by air and he had promised to keep care of his wings; a promise that he did not intend to let go so easily.
Once things had cleared enough for him to take flight he had done so, landing carefully just outside the forest after stretching his wings. He had headed for the place where he had first met the mare that reminded him so much of the Northern lights, believing that if the fates were kind he would find her there. The fates had been kind enough so far and he saw no reason why they would not be again.
