If Prince was coming at a close distance, they probably wouldn't be able to beat him with speed, but perhaps with accuracy they could succeed. Every little bit of damage inflicted counts. "Heat wave!"
Nine's eyes glowed again and the temperature around her suddenly got unbearable. Heck, if the ice wasn't nevermelting, it would have melted in seconds.
Prince did manage to make Nine's flames extinguish though, causing the pokemon to land on the ice floor and quickly loose her balance, falling on her face. Needless to say, Nine was quite pissed and turned up the heat even more.

Choppi gasped as the air was distorted by the powerful heat wave that launched through the air at the Pidgeot, clenching her hands together. "Hang on Prince!"
Prince tried to gust himself higher by beating his wings, but to no avail. The wave hit, igniting some of his feathers and causing him damage. Flailing in his flight, he looked to Choppi, hoping she could tell him the net move. He would play by her words, as he snuffed the flames out by twisting about in the sky.
"Okay Prince! Mirror Move!" Choppi called out strongly to him, a hit of edge in her eyes. Then smiling, she stuck out her hand with a 'V' sign, cheering him on. "You can do it!"
Nodding, the glare off the ice was perfect for this move. Wings flaring open to the most they ever could, his most beautifully preened feathers were clean enough to actually refract the light off the ice of the stadium. The heat from Nine was also an assist to this, as a heat wave went right back at her, in an attempt to melt the ice around her dramatically and bring her down.

Luna grinned. Fire moves only excited Nine more thinks to her flash fire ability. "Ignore it and use confuse ray!"
Nine completely shrugged off the heatwave attack and lit up flames on her paws again. The heatwave only helped in increasing the size of the flames since warm air was all the more flamable than cool air.
The eyes of the ninetales glowed again as a yellow-ish orb of light flickered above her head, floating it's way into the sky towards Prince. It bobbed up and down slowly around Prince, but soon quickened it's pace. The flashing lights were sure to confuse the pokemon if he looked.
Luna clenched her fist. "Com'mon...work!" She knew it was her last chance of staying in the battle

The flickering light was like an old ninja ability, using torches in darkness to confuse the enemy and when it hit Prince, he lost a bit of his cocky attitude and went spinning about. Not able to hold on the effects of the attack sunk in.
This was the first confusion attack Choppi'd actually seen in battle, and it was frightening. Maybe they could use this to their advantage. All the heat was making thermals that really was driving him wildly through the skies. "Whirlwind Prince!" Could he do it?
He tried. Pumping his wings as he flew in a maddening circle, his only hope to attack through this would be to conjure up a huge spiral wall of wind. It gusted up, now all he had to do was avoid it. He seemed to be coming out of the confusion attack, but all Choppi could do was hope.

Unfortunately for Prince, flying and attacking while using confuseray was like trying to walk with a 0.3 blood alcohol content. The winds turned against Prince and the bird pokemon ended up slicing himself.
"Yes!" Luna said to herself in victory. "Okay Nine, give 'em another one!"
"Nine!"
The ninetales was sitting down now in a relaxed posture. She quite enjoyed doing things from long distance with her psychic attacks. Her tails flickered up and down while another confuse ray started to circle Prince.

"Prince, try another Mirror Attack!" Choppi coached from the sidelines, hoping this would work and they'd get Nine back. "Hang in there!"
Prince swooped into her confusion attack, and began to spin out of control. If he could, if he just could use the same attack back on Nine, maybe he could turn it all around. Prince attempted to form a ray of his own, sending the ball of light back to Nine. Would it shock her, or just be a useless glow of light?

Yet again, Prince's attack failed as his mirrored attack exploded in his face. Nine let out a snort of amusement.
The trainer grinned. Confusion was quite useful at times. "Fire spin!"
Nine looked up at Prince, opening her mouth to let out another deadly blast of powerful, concentrated swirling flames.

The blast was intense and Prince took the full brunt of it, completely hitting the wall of flames. His body fell to the icy stadium floor, the flames extinguished on the frozen ice. His head was spinning still, and the only hope was to damage Nine back. He'd try a Sand Attack at her, something low and hopefully stable to move with.
Choppi decided confusion was a nasty attack, even for teammates to use. She clenched her teeth, letting Prince do whatever attack would be easy for him. She wasn't giving up on him, just letting him take control. "Please let him be okay!"

"Extrasensory!"
Red eyes flared up again. Black and white stripped tails moved slowly and elegantly behind Nine, creating a dizzy illusion. The backround around Prince started to warp around Prince.
Meanwhile, the pidgeot was attempting to shove ice at a pillar of ice, glaring at his own reflection.

Prince snapped out of confusion, only to walk into the next attack. Choppi bit her bottom lip so hard that it drew a bit of blood, which she spat out. "Prince you can do this, I believe in you! We're a good team! Aerial Ace!" Prince snapped out of the attacking, irritated Nine was doing so well, he came in low and fast for a slice at her side with his talons. The anticipation was overwhelming.

Judging by Prince's expression, Luna could tell her pokemon was at it's limits. Luna's pulse quickened, she knew this was the last limb of the battle. If she put down Prince after this, victory would be theirs.
"Overheat!"
The heat around Nine began to pick up as Prince rushed past Nine. At the last minute, Nine managed to throw away her pride and drop to the ice to miss the brunt of the attack. She panted hard, it was a close attack.
Now all that was left was too see if Prince could survive the overbearing heat or now.

The sweltering heat got to him and he dropped to the ice, beak first, his form limp. It was the last straw on the pile for him, and his form was unable to take it. Choppi covered her mouth with her hands as she gasped. "Prince! Return!" The lazer light channeled Prince back to the safety of the Pokeball. She gave a light kiss to the top of it.
"Thankyou Prince." Then looking up she smiled widly and waved to the other girl and Nine. "Thankyou!!!" She called. Then, turning around she dashed off to the poke'center. She'd meet Luna there and trade Prince back, after he was well rested from a battle well fought.

Luna waved at the other trainer. She had little time to do anything else, even a formal handshake, because the other was running to the pokemon center as quick as possible. Maybe she was worried about Prince?
"Great job Nine." The trainer said, holding out a pokeball at her pokemon. The black ninetales gave a slight smile before she was retracted into the device. "And now onto Katarina~"
