At the moment, I am plating a four. Soon enough, I plan on getting a five, and in the future I will be getting a six string fretless, when I have a better grasp of the instrument of course. I'd love an eight string, but I'd rather stick to the basic three (For now)

i'm trapped in a burning building I play a four-string Jazz but I'm looking into the new five-string American Standard Jazz...
I played a five-string P-Bass at GC through an Ampeg full stack. My face melted.
but man, you have to see the view

i play on both a 5 and a 4, depending on the song/gig. i don't really like going higher then 5. i've played 6 but i found it was a little useless in most settings, especially with a full band. just to many strings for to few notes

To everyone saying 4 is all you need... What's so wrong with more than 4? It's not like the tuning changed.
I play a 5-string, though I don't use the B much at all. It's there in case I ever want/need to use it.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. 3nodding

I play a five. I modulate the bass lines a lot. So why the rythm guitar stays the same I'll play in accompying scales and keys and like to go lower or higher in tone depending on the song. So when I want to go lower and the guitar players on the low E, that low B comes in very handy.
God damn am I tired.

Have four. Want six. Tried five, didn't see the attraction to be totally honest. Not saying five is bad or whatever; it's a personal choice and it's not for me!
