"Poor, poor baby!" Aether repeated, continuing to brush piles of snow off Tatenda. "No, I didn't get hit. But I think that tree has it in for you." She eyed the tree above them, warily searching for other ominously leaning branches. All seemed peaceful, but they had had little warning last time. Settling near to a less snow covered tree, Aether motioned to Tatenda to follow. "You must be freezing! Do you know of anywhere nearby where we could get warm?" Her mind was racing. If this continued, her friend was going to be more ice than ulaya. It was too bad this area was generally new to her. They needed to find a cave or protected area where they could avoid more snow flinging trees and recover instead.

Tatenda continued pouting at the tree, as if waiting for it to apologize. He kept hunched, as if that pose would help him keep warmer, and he could only nod about what happened. "Maybe it doesn't like me hiding under its leaves." o.o; His ears fell against his neck when he felt Aether leave, suddenly not as warm as before. Her signal was seen, and Tatenda made haste to follow her to the....friendlier looking tree. Though, he paced in a small circle before sitting tensely, keeping a wary glance on the new tree. A smile was given, hoping to relax his friend's worry. "I...it is really chilly." He didn't get a winter coat like most ulaya, so didn't take well to being covered in snow, even if it was so quickly. He shook his head numbly. "Sorry....I don't know this area that well..." He nuzzled his face sheepishly at her shoulder, desperate to get away from the cold.

Watching Tatenda nervously, Aether's concern continued. She wasn't sure what happened when a ulaya practically froze...and she was positive that she didn't want to find out today. Breathing in deeply she then breathed out, successfully blowing away the the snow remaining on Tatenda's fur. Despite a light dusting of flakes, he was snow free. However, the male would stay cold unless they found a way to prevent his heat loss. "It's okay. I don't know this area well either. I just want to find a way to keep you warm." She kept her voice soft and gentle. Aether smiled caringly at Tatenda's nuzzle, nuzzling him in return. Getting an idea, she reached up and pulled at a tree branch with her teeth and paws. After a few moments, she had successfully broken off several evergreen branches. Brushing away a little of the snow beneath them, Aether then carefully lay her bitten off branches on the forest floor, making sure that no particular sharp edges poked up. Finally lying down on the far side of her makeshift den area, Aether motioned again for Tatenda to join her.

Tatenda nodded, not wanting to spend time stuttering on simple replies. He was busy rubbing his paws back and forth, before he felt Aether shift and he inched back to look at her. What was she up to? Red eyes were curious as the girl tore at low branches in many amounts. Standing upright, Tatenda reached for some branches too, wanting to help his friend in her task. He'd feel awful just sitting there, pathetic and unhelping. Gathering a good number of twigs, he dragged them carefully to Aether's pile. Oh, he could see it now. Brushing out his own bunch, Tatenda soon joined Aether on the creation. "You didn't have to do all that Aether. But...thank you." He was careful not to bump or trample the other as he adjusted and finally seated himself.

Aether smiled, noticing Tatenda's bunch of branches being added to her own. Their little pile had grown exponentially, promising a fulfillment of her plan and hopefully warmth for her companion. With all these leafy evergreens about, they would have a nice nest. "You're welcome," she murmured, unleashing the full effects of her genuine smile on him. His modesty was suprising, but she hoped that he believed that she wanted to help him. She wanted to be close to him. "What are friends for, if not to help each other?" She adjusted on their nest of branches and leaves, wrapping her body around his. Maybe her body heat would help to keep them both warm. She nuzzled Tatenda as she lay there, hopeful that he would feel better soon.

Her smile was returned with a small one of his own, though honest and happy too. He was so lucky to have a nice friend like Aether around. He could imagine what mess he'd be if he was alone with a frosty back, out here and lost. His feathers laid flat, now glossy from their cold 'shower' and smooth on the branches. Tatenda nodded at Aether, his smile never fading. "Well, I'm certainly glad your my friend. My first one...honestly."
The male shifted, half leaning on the other but in a gentle and weightless way. His chin nuzzled the top of her head as he relaxed comfortably. Almost enough to take a quick nap. But...would that be a safe thing to do out in the snow? "You're not cold, are you Aether?"

Aether nuzzled Tatenda again in response to his leaning against her. She had expected to feel at least partially uncomfortable on their nest of odd branches. It was, after all, the only layer between their fur and the cold, unforgiving snow. To her suprise, the female was noticeably comfotable. Her friend gave off a nice amount of heat, banishing all thoughts of the freezing snow around them. Sighing a bit in contentment, Aether let Tatenda lean on her, continuing curling about him. As he nuzzled the top of her head, she relaxed into him.
Slowly, Tatenda's gentle question broke through her haze of golden happiness. "No, I'm not cold." Far from it, actually. Sitting up a bit, she looked into her companion's eyes. "Why do you ask? Are you cold?" She let a worried look pass onto her face, wondering if there was anything else she could do for her freezing friend.

To Tatenda, even meager branches were a blessing against the snow that continued to assault him. But even better was the support of his friend. Eather really was too kind, and it was a nice change for the male who had always been chased and chewed on by strangers. His shivers were subsiding, and he kept to brushing his chocolate fur on the other's sandy fur. His feathers shifted and tried curling around Aether like normal tails could.
Blinking, Tatenda pulled back to peek at the other as she moved. "I'm glad." He was afraid his chilled fur would have bothered her. His head shook with a happy smile. "Oh no, I'm much better now. Thank you." Even if it wasn't the best of temperatures, he was comfortable. He giggled while pressing his cool nose to Aether's.

Aether smiled at the other's attempt to wrap his 'tail' around her. The silky feathers felt oddly comforting against her own soft fur. Glad that his shaking form was starting to calm down, she sighed and released the tension of the day. Noticing the warm grin of her companion, she was glad for his happy response to her questions. At least he was starting to recover from his snow bath. Aether was pleasantly suprised when Tatenda pressed his nose to hers. Looking a bit crossed eyed for a moment, she focused solely on the end of her nose. Allowing her eyes to straighten themselves, she focused on her friend's eyes and mirthful features. A bubbly giggle broke out of her mouth. Pushing back, she let herself lean against Tatenda, still smiling as she did so.

Ears bobbed as Aether sighed, Tatenda reclining with a soft smile. It grew even stronger when her expression turned funny and cute trying to follow the sight of his nose. He didn't know why, but he did enjoy bumping noses with the other. Like some honest and simple sign of friendship. Tatenda pulled back shortly, tilting his head to Aether's giggles. Guess that was a good sign? So long as she was happy, then he was too. With her weight on his side, Tatenda leaned so they were both comfortable, himself more like a large pillow. "Sorry I ruined your day....I know you wanted to have fun and play." He smiled sheepishly.

Aether smiled, sensing the other's contentment. She curled her body more, fully resting against Tatenda; the other's thick and soft fur provided a perfect place to rest her head. As he began to speak, she felt her head rise with his chest. His breath caused his chest to expand, lifting her up a bit. It was comfortable; she lay and listened to the rumbling noises created by her ear hearing his words as vibrations through his body. It almost sounded like he was purring. This thought brought another happy smile to her lips. The thought of her feathered friend purring was extremely entertaining. Such warm contentment clouded her thoughts, almost causing Aether to miss what Tatenda actually said. "What?" She looked up at him, blinking in suprise as his words sunk into her conscious mind. "You did not ruin my day. I'd much rather spend it with you than with someone else. Even if it means I cannot play as much." She nuzzled him gently, trying to emphasize her sincerity. "I'm not sure why, but your company is much more welcome to me than anyone else's."

Tatenda ignored the warmth in his face, knowing now after many times that it wasn't a bad thing. Not at all health-wise. He just still didn't understand why it happened, especially whenever Aether appeared. And the male continued to speak, not realizing he was making a rumble of sorts with his tone. It was just natural, so he gave no second thought or pause to it. Only when she blinked at him did he blink back, tilting his head. Was she even listening? Tatenda chuckled happily and nuzzled her back. Her words touched him deeply; made him smile more. "Really?" And his tongue tied, his tummy flopping. "I...feel the same too." Sheepishly, he groomed at the top of her head and along the ears. Not even the cold bothered him now.

Aether sighed, loving the feeling of being nuzzled once again by her companion. She felt something within her leap at the sight of his smile, confusing her even as it sent waves of warmth through her. "I'm glad that you feel the same," she murmured, letting her happiness fill her statement and back it. She sat quietly as she felt Tatenda groom her head. Aether made a soft mewling sounds as he cleaned her ears, shutting her eyes in contentment. It was her turn to act like a feline as she uttered her own version of a purr.

Ear puffs twitched in response to Aether's reply. He was so glad, energized, that the other was happy. For some reason he didn't know, it made all other things in his life seem perfect. Even the cold snow surrounding them. None of it bothered him anymore. Was this what they called...friendship? Tatenda didn't know, since this was his first experience and he had nothing else to compare it to. The grooming continued, a soft chuckle slipping through shortly as Aether purred. It sounded lovely coming from her, and he could imagine no other sound suiting her. "So Aether, how have you and your 'family' been? Good I hope." The chocolate ulaya moved his grooming to the back of her neck, removing small specks of snow, as he waited for her voice.

Aether smiled, hearing the other's gentle laughter. It fell upon her ears like bells, twinkling in her mind and memories. She nodded slightly to his question, careful not to disturb his friendly grooming. "They are doing well," she said, almost murmuring her words. After a pause she added, "I have not had many opportunities to speak to them recently... The snow and cold weather have been a bit problematic in that sense. However, they seemed quite content when I last saw them." Her words broke off with another purr; her companion's gentle licking felt nice on her neck and head.
