______________+ XAREYA DIEM // at the end of a long day
"Well, Xare, what have you done?"
How would she ever be able to explain? Even now, hours after apologizing - many times - to the Queen for directly going against her decision, Xareya was still unsure as to exactly why she had whispered that request under her breath. Sitting alone in her rooms, Xare sank deeper into the couch, and glanced moodily across the room towards the fire blazing cheerily in the marble fireplace, absently flicking her long skirts into place as she did so. Near the fire, seperated from the cold stone by a soft, down-filled pillow and wrapped loosely with a cashmere scarf, was a large, silvery-yellow egg. As she watched, it twitched slightly, and the miniature demon wings that somehow magically floated around it wobbled a bit before once again hovering near the egg.
In her hand, she held a necklace strung with a cross-shaped silver pendant. After the egg had finally finished appearing in the middle of the chamber that Queen Undine was using as a courtroom, the pendant had miraculously appeared in front of Xareya and dropped into her hand. Thoughtfully, Xare rubbed a finger over the pendant as she closed her eyes, trying to ease a little of the headache that was threatening to start pounding at the insides of her skull. It had been a very, very long day.
"Keep the egg. It was your request that caused it to be, was it not?" The Queen spoke after a long silence, pacing her own royal chambers as Xareya knelt in front of her, the egg held in her arms. The sense of relief that flooded Xareya at those words had been so intense it had almost been painful.
Fortunately, Queen Undine had not been particularly angry about her behavior, believing that some sort of benefit could be gained from the egg. If the rumors going around the regarding an Ashe called Marzipan were true, then the egg by the hearth would also hatch into a small child, and would offer a solution of sorts to the infertility problem that both Courts were currently facing.
The egg was well and truly hers now. Perhaps when it hatched, she would no longer be as alone as she currently was. Oh, she had many friends, and more than her fair share of lovers, but there had been no one with whom Xare felt could share her life with as completely as she had used to with Xeridan, her twin brother. They had always had a connection between them that transcended the regular brother/sister relationship, allowing them to share thoughts so completely that they would often speak, or do, exactly the same thing simultaneously. As children, they had laughed over the same jokes, gotten excited over the same things, and spent countless hours with their heads bent together, sharing some secret, or hatching up their next bit of mischief. But gradually, they had grown apart, letting their differences and their pride stand in the way. And now... they barely acknowledged each other when they were in the same room together.
For a moment, Xareya's eyes grew damp as she was swamped by memories that she'd successfully managed to keep at bay for most of her life. She let herself drown in them for a moment before giving an abrupt shake of her shoulders and sitting up, blinking rapidly a couple of times to clear up any traitorous moisture. Such memories belonged in the past, and she believed that it was better that way. Her eyes fell again onto the egg, and Xare smiled. This was her future now, and she was going to take very good care of it.

______________+ XERIDAN DIEM // a figment of the imagination
A male figure was sitting slightly hunched over at a desk, eyes intent on the book laid out in front of him. It was an old book, written many years ago by a fae scholar before the fae had split into the two courts; Seelie and Unseelie. After the extraordinary occurrences of the day, Xeridan Diem, better known to those close to him as Ride, was looking into the history of the fae, hoping to find some clue as to what exactly had occurred during those moments when the egg appeared.
Normally, Ride would have been completely indifferent, as the politics and power play that surrounded the Courts had never been of interest to him, but this was a special case. The egg in question was now in the hands of his sister, and although they had drifted apart many years ago, he still felt a certain sense of responsibility towards Xareya. After all, she was the younger twin. Over the years, Ride had used that as a justification for the innumerous times that he had secretly checked in on her to be certain everything was alright with her life. He knew, with certainty, that if she ever found out, there would be hell to pay, and yet he still found himself looking after her, albeit from a distance. His sister's temper was not as deep and violent as his own, but it was formidable enough, given the way she had of delivering cuttingly accurate remarks.
As if the mere thought of her had conjured up her presence in his mind, Ride suddenly felt Xare's thoughts brush against his own. Fleetingly, he caught her sadness as she went over memories of their past together, but just as abruptly, the sense of her presence disappeared from his mind, and he was left wondering if he had ever felt her at all. A frown appeared on Ride's sensually handsome face as he wondered if it had all just been a trick of his own mind.
Over the years, he had occasionally felt her thoughts in his head, just like it had been between them before they drifted apart, but it had never been quite this strong or this clear. Always, he had dismissed it as his imagination, but now he began to wonder if the old bond between them still existed. It was possible, but Ride found it hard to believe that Xareya still cared enough about him to feel sadness. She barely paid him any attention at all whenever they saw each other at court. The old bond had been broken a long time ago, when a pointless argument had escalated into a major fight and they had both refused to swallow their pride to apologize. Shaking his head at himself for entertaining such sentimental thoughts, Ride grimaced, and pushed himself out of the chair he'd been sitting in. There was no point trying to concentrate further on the book in his current state of mind, and Xareya was more than capable of taking care of herself, now.

Xareya 11.01.2008 // Redwood Mall; A Place for CoincidenceXareya meets others at the mall who also seem to know about the Ashes. It appears as if there are human guardians for the Ashe, as well.

It seems Zaden isn't comming out just yet. Being the one and only Ashe in the Unseelie court would make any one feel self important or big headed, not to mention being the son of a lady in waiting to Queen Undine herself! The idea must have gone to his head and made him feel as if he's too good to be seen by Xare! Try to help Zaden keep in mind that he's not in charge by getting him two kinds of more simplistic gifts.
