Idk wtf you're talking about, when you are actually skilled enough to derserve the notice(If you don't have a drumline you don't deserve to be noticed) they will alwys see how amazing you did. When you're up infront of an entire stadium(not on the side lines like the p***y horns and s**t) with just you, your drum(cymbals too) and the opposing line, no one notices anything else but how amazing you are, and when you're the number one line in your area, no one messes with you. My line is the s**t and with our power we bring...We won't let anyone not notice!

Maybe its just me, but every time we perform, us drummers are always congradulated because there only three of four of us at a time, so we have to multitask, me especially. I'm always playing two or every three intruments in just one song. People always say, "You are great!" mrgreen
´

well... at our band we´re with 2 percussionists. me and my brother. and because my brother won´t go away from behind his drum kit, I have to do all the other work: timpani, concert bass, xylophone etc. etc. and do you think people notice all the work I do? ofcourse not... I just get questions like: why the hell do you keep running around back there?
and our conductor appearantly doesn't care either, we can do whatever we want back there, and he doesn't notice. I could go stand behind the concert bass and keep hitting out of beat really loud and he wouldn't notice... but still I'm still happy to play in the band, it's really fun... though nobody notices it biggrin

Not in our band.
The drumline is like the messiah.
Everyone looks up to us.

Its nothing like that at my school. The very first day of camp the BD gives this long speech about listening back to the drumline and how if the band falls aparth they'll hold it together. My colorgurad instructor even used to play the drums and he told us never listen to the band only the drums. There the heart of the whole band. However, thei ndividuals themselves get a lot of crap because they choose to do stupid things.

lol, my line is like that. the first year our drum major was conducting, he sped up and slowed down alot, so everyone had to listen to the drumline to get the correct tempo. once the center snare started playing 8th notes to keep the band at the right tempo (that was at practice, so it was ok)
our show this year had a drumline feature, so we got a lot of praise.

"Our people in pit play like, twelve instruments in one piece, but if we get one part wrong, or miss a note, we get laps from our section leaders, drum major, and director!"

"Your apperently luckier than most then. Not all band pits and drums get the appriciation we should. We get noticed when we screw it up, but not when we do well...and no, im not a bad drummer, im actually the s**t in my band, but thats just the way things are."

our band gives us total crap about our line. and we left one time to go eat pizza and we watched the band march without us, and they totally fell apart. but they say it wasn't cuz we weren't there. we even have a percussion feature, snare solo, tenor solo, and then there was gonna be a bass solo where there was like a 28 count hold, but no, random noise, so yeah. i think our bd should like go die. and today in concert band he decides that the percussionists have no clue where b flat and c are. honestly. throttle him.

More like no one cares about colorguard. Honestly, my FAVORITE part of our band is our drumline! They are so amazing and they deserve a lot more credit. Just like colorguard.
