Ambrose was a bit surprised "That soon?" He shrugged it off however "I suppose it makes sense, not bothering to waste your time or money as this is only a two week study. Where do I put my things?" Ambrose asked hefting his duffelbag as he hopped into the passenger's seat. Silently, he was a bit surprised that the lead doctor himself came to greet him at the helipad. Were they understaffed?

"So!" Ambrose said with a grin, his curiousity roused a bit by the mysterious circumstances and vague to nothing details about the study itself "What sort of procedure..? Or medicine...? Am I going to be testing...?"

Dr. Moreau drove the jeep back to the facilities. "To be completely honest it's all very hush hush... most I can tell you is it's a medical enhancer for people with... disabilities. We need a few healthy people to test it on," the Jeep cutting through the jungle as Moreau quickly drove and swerve as he'd learned to do here. "Your one of the first to the island but other members of the study are kind of... upset, if their disability gets brought up. I ask you to not ask too many questions of my staff or the other people in the study."

Moreau smiled at his answer, as he drove to the fence and it opened for him. Then he got out of the Jeep and waited for Ambrose.

Ambrose's brow furrowed as he hung tightly to the frame of the jeep as it careened around the hairpin turns that led to the laboratory, but kept his attention rapt on Moreau. "Well... I've always been quite healthy" Ambrose hesitated "But... this is a sort of enhancer? This... this won't get me kicked off of any competitions will it? I participate in competition fencing, and if this is some sort of steroid, I don't think that I can participate..." Ambrose said with a sinking heart - he needed the money badly, worse than he was willing to admit. To be honest, even if he HAD done a McDonald's job, it wouldn't pay near this kind of money for an entire summer's work at minimum wage. But, if it meant that doing this for money would in the same fell swoop ban him from doing what it was that made him break away from his parents to begin with, then the point was moot.

"While the enhancers aren't legal in the U.S. they aren't something that stays in your blood stream. Don't worry, they won't interfear with your fencing." Dr. Moreau had read the information he'd been given during the screening by Mr. Maulias.

He walked towards the doors as they slid open, into a lobby area. Clean and pristine the floors almost seemed to sparkle. A pretty dark haired woman sat behind the receptionist desk. She nodded a bit to Moreau as he took Ambrose past the lobby, into the elevator.

Ambrose scratched the back of his head and sighed "Well.... if that's the case... I suppose it's alright." He gave a weak smile to Moreau. He must know what he was talking about - and he had filled out a very thorough medical and personality profile before he had been approved for the study.

Ambrose walked past the secretary with a friendly return nod and followed Moreau as he walked.

The door to the elevator opened automatically as Moreau approached them. Then just as quickly the door closed on the buttonless elevator. "Floor 8" Moreau said very clearly. The elevator very quickly began to go up till it stopped, then with a ding opened into a lab room with an examination table in the middle.

Still remarkably surprised by the high degree of personal attention he was being given by the head scientist and self proclaimed owner of the Island itself, Ambrose followed him wordlessly up to the laboratory, for the most part unphased by the rapidly traveling elevator, bracing himself for the quick ascent, and watching attentively.

Arriving in the examination room he stepped inside, still carrying his luggage, and sat down on the table with an expectant look.

Dr. Moreau beckoned Ambrose to a large, metal table, it was the type you'd typically see Doctor's use but it was not cushioned and comfortable like most. It also had straps on it, as if it could be used if someone needed restraining.

"Lie here, I'll go get the serum..." Dr. Moreau walked away towards a cabnet and looked for a second in it, as if trying to make a decision.

Ambrose looked warily at the table. While another weight had been placed on the "legitimate" side of the scale with the obvious affluence of the facility with the voice-activated elevator, his anxious feeling poked up again at the sight of the restraints. Trying to allay his fears a bit with a jesting chuckle to his voice, he asked "Hopefully you're not going to be tying me down, are you doctor?" He said, taking a seat and watching Morea look through a cabinet worth of various vials and bottles.

Moreau chuckled a bit "Oh no! I just have a flair for the overdramatic. When your as rich and intelligent as I am you are allowed an occasional chuckle." Moreau looked like he had found the right one as he inserted the chemical tube into the needle

"Now, there may be some discomfort overnight, but by morning I'm sure you'll feel as healthy as ever." Moreau pulled up Ambrose's sleeve, tapped the needle twice, squirting out the first little bit. His smile grew large for a second "This may sting...". Then without much more warning he inserted it into Ambrose's arm.

Ambrose gave a bit of releaved laughter, forcibly shaking off his jitters. Now that he was sitting in the exam room on the table, the doctor with syringe in hand he knew that at this point there was no going back, and he felt very on-the-spot. He nodded at the warning, familiar with the common side effects of most vaccinations that would usually include a mild fever for the first evening. He wasn't by any means afraid of doctors, but it is hard to be relaxed per-se when an injection was imminent. Watching the azure liquid in the shaft of the needle and smelling the cleansing alcohol he instinctively squeezed his eyes shut as he felt a p***k and then a pinch on his arm, and then a spreading soreness as the liquid filled his veins.

"Well now, that wasn't so bad was it?" Dr. Moreau smiled, and helped Ambrose off the table. "I'll escort you outside the lab facilities., a representative should be able to show you the little community we've built here for our... temporary patients. Just so you understand you are not allowed on the lab facilities without supervision." Moreau lead Ambrose downstairs as he spoke, a couple of guards standing on the grounds that were not there on the trip up.

Ambrose opened his eyes again at the sound of Moreau's voice. Rubbing his sore arm a bit he looked back to him. "No... that.. that wasn't so bad." He got to his feet and grabbed his bag again, shaking his head a bit at the fact that he hadn't even been shown to his room first before the injection and now had to lug it back with a sore arm. "Not allowed back to the laboratory? But what if I have a reaction to the injection? What should I be looking for? What exactly did it do...? And... community built just for the temporarty patients..?" Ambrose commented with a note of surprise - they certainly had spared no expense. His gaze lingered hesitantly on the guards that stood by the door now - wondering why on earth they would need guards here.... maintaining the little worry-beast still adamantly rooted in his stomach.

"You will be monitored and your rooms have a sort of intercom/radio system that will allow you to contact someone if needed." Moreau's gate opened, as he walked with Ambrose to the other side of it. Then he turned back to the other side himself, as the gate shut behind him.

"Phone communications don't work here, but don't worry, as I said we've set up our own. Enjoy yourself, there should be someone in the main building over there." Moreau pointed to a large building in the middle of the town. "They should be able to help you get situated, of and thank you for participating in our little study."

Ambrose stood with his dufflebag as the gates closed him out of the laboratory, and he glanced over his shoulder at what looked like a planned community of uniform duplexes, the landscaping meticulously cared for, and for the most part devoid of signs of life. But then the doctor HAD said that he was the first arrival.... Ambrose hoped that that wouldn''t be so for long; while it didn''t admittedly take much to entertain him, he would prefer at least some company during this two-week interment.

The note about the phone caught him by surprise as he instinctively pulled out his cell to find that not only was it roaming, but no signal found. He sighed and nodded, switching it off and tucking it away, and tred down the narrow dirt road to the large building in the center of the complex.

A middle-aged heavyset woman greeted him with an expectant aire. She had apparently been waiting for his arrival and eager at the chance to do her job. She chatted with him idly - ignoring the fact that Ambrose''s attention was more distracted by the intensifying ache in his arm than her discussing the meal plans for the week and that the residents were expected to clean up after themselves and take their garbage to the communal dumpster, but could come back to the main complex for laundry. She gave him a set of sheets, and a key to "Bungalow 01" - which she pointed him towards a downstairs unit on the western side of the village.

Feeling exhausted from the trip, the heat, and a bit lightheaded, Ambrose headed directly towards the bungalow, ignoring the surroundings such as the lake and the jungle that sprung up full force just outside the border of the village. Unlocking the door he stepped into the efficiency - a single bed rested against the left wall. There was a closet, a dresser, and severeal pull-out shelves. No television, no telephone he noted with a sinking heart. It was good that he brought some books to read. There was, however, an intercom set into the wall near the bed, with a number panel going from 1-9 and 0, and a note below it about calling other units, the large building in the center of the village which served both as a supplier and cafeteria, as well as a note to simply press 0 for emergencies. There was also an air-conditioning panel in the wall - thank God - and the room looked very well ventilated with several vents - it must be necessary given how humid and hot it was here he told himself.

He was tired, but he also wanted to unpack. Putting his clothes away into the drawers and closets, his books in another drawer, his fencing gear leaned up out of the way in the closet, his toiletries put away in the bathroom, and finally, with a kind smile, the framed photograph of himself and Angelina on the bedside table.
With the last personal effect - and the only real personal flair visable in the impersonal hotel-like room, Ambrose collapsed, exhausted, onto the bed - not even bothering to change clothes or get under the covers.
