" We'd also have ta get 'hold of one with th' right colorin'... A common green one'd just not do it. " He said thoughtful, grinning up to her. " Guess I could be a designer, eh? Definitely a white or silver snake fer ya, Darlin', ta match those feathers. "
" As fer catchin' it.. Well, that I can do. One of us distracts, while th' other catches it from behind. When it tries tah turn, ya just pin it's head ta th' ground. " He nods, pretty sure that that would work. It it worked alone it would only be easier with two people. They probably wouldn't be bitten. Yep.
" Mm. Now.. How were ya plannin' to be haulin' all these feathers about, missy? " He asked curiously as he looked down to them again. He hadn't quite thought of that, and looked to her to see if it had crossed her mind.

“No, yer right. Green would look awful with pink. Silver or white sounds like it might work well, though.” She imagined herself in the headdress, a flurry of pink and white feathers cascading down to her shoulders, tickling her neck. They would rustle in her ears as she shook her head and draw the much wanted attention to herself. Yes, she would look so stylish, so cool, like a queen!
“Yer quite smart for such a little guy.” She reached a paw to ruffle the tuft of fur between his ears. “It sounds risky, but hey, what’s life without a little risk. Besides, death by snakebite ain’t messy like being torn up in a fight.” No, much better to die by poison, or so Nissa thought at the time, though her mind would certainly changed when she was face to face with a hissing, spitting serpent.
She was about to turn and set off in the direction of the ‘snakepit’ when Cit suddenly reminded her about something important. Her feathers! She whipped back round to face them, glaring at the pile as if they had been trying to trick her and escape. Wily feathers!
“I suppose…uh…we could just hide ‘em and then come back.” And risk them being found? But then, who was out here to find them? Besides, those feathers were only suitable for a lioness with style and there sure weren’t many of them around, judging by her own useless mother.
“Or…uhh…well…I dunno.” Her ears fell. “We could find something tah put them in and take ‘em with us, though they might get in the way. No, I’ll dig a little hollow an’ cover them with some grass, they’ll be jus’ fine.” She headed over to one of the trees and began to test the soil with a few scrapes of a paw. “Yeah, over ‘ere’ll be jus’ fine.” And she started to dig, kicking great clods of earth up into the air.

Choosing to ignore the 'little guy' comment, he chuckled, shaking his growing mane away from his face as he pads over to begin clawing up grass, and breaking up a few loose branches for them to hide the feathers under. Once he had enough, he drug it all over to Nissa, just far enough to avoid being pelted by flying dirt.
" Should be deep 'nough, ya? " He called, watching the older girl curiously. " Dig up too much an' th' tree may be comin' down on ya, Darlin'." He smirked in amusement, moving back to the feather pile to carry them over as well. " Su'sha shame 'hated beh. " He murmured around the feather stems in his mouth, dropping them down by the gathered grass and small tree limbs.
He waited for the digging to stop before he moved over to begin smoothing out the dirt to look like something hadn't just been in a digging frenzy in the area. Wouldn't be good for someone to find and swipe their hard earned feathers after all!
" Any idea what ya'r gonna be usin' ta hold th' feathers onta th' skin, Nissa? " He asked with a smirk, pretty sure he already knew the answer. Her unplanned recklessness was rather cute. What would she be doing right now if he hadn't pounced here out there in the grass?

Mud clods were swept out behind her as she dug, claws breaking up the dirt with surprising ease. There was a look of sheer determination on her face that remained until the hole was big enough and her body was too tired to go on.
Cit's words encouraged her to a halt and she stepped back to admire her handywork. "Think so." She agreed, curling her tail high. Her eyes glanced upwards to the tree as if daring it to even try tipping over.
Then turning fully to face her new companion she looked about ready to reply whenn she faltered at the last moment.
"Ah dunno..." She trailed off, brows knitting together. Who did this guy think he was being so smart? "I'll think o' that when the time comes, kay?" And with that she hid the last remaining feathers and trotted off, moving with a clear bounce in her step.
She moved with her head held high, proud. Her gait was long and swift for such a young lioness and there was a spark in her eye. "Come on Little Guy!" She called, quite liking the name she had dubbed him and quite forgetting that one day he'd be bigger than her.
"Get yer legs moving!" She laughed. It was only a few minutes trot to the snake grass but she wanted to get there as quick as possible.

He scowled at the 'Little guy' comment, moving after her after a moments hesitation in which he debated on jumping her.
He huffed as he trots to catch up, falling into step beside her. " There's pro'ly clay 'round here, if'n we dug deep enough.. " He murmured thoughtfully as they neared the high grass. Really, he was surprisingly bright for one who talked and acted in such a manner as he did.
" Was told s'm things 'bout it before... If we ge' it wet, lay it out across th' skin.. Stick in th' feather stems, an' push th' skin t'gether long ways. Should hold, even in th' rain I think. After it dry o'course. "
He eyed the grass ahead of them, stopping at the edge of it.
" Tha' is. If we c'n find any. And we live long 'nough. " He turned to give her a challenging grin, before bounding off into the grass in hunt for a while or silver scaled snake.

She listened, genuinely impressed with this little one's head. He sure did have a good working brain, one that worked far better than hers in any case. She smiled at him secretly and found, much to her amazement, and idea slipping into her head.
When the time came and she left the lands, why leave and travel alone when there were others she could travel with? She'd have to ask him and see if he was up for it. Hey, it could even be fun learning from him.
"I sure did find a smart rogue out 'ere didn't I?" She chuckled, sweeping her tail behind her.
Then, coming to a halt outside of the grass she cast a daring, challenging glare at her counterpart and smiled at his words. "First one out alive is the winner!" She called, dashing after him.
The grass attacked her, physically it seemed. She bounced this way and that, paws sinking into the surprisingly soft earth. She thought she saw something move, span, saw only the dancing grass. Momentarily forgetting that she'd been parted from her new friend, Nissa was overcome in the hunt. She dashed after the supposed movement, only to find nothing and was left wondering which way to go.
"Cit?!" She called. "Cit! Any luck!?"

He smirked at the praise, only to snort soon at the new challenge. He couldn't help but let out a chuckle, much as an adult would give when watching a hyper young cub on their first outing. His new friend was such an odd one.
Still... When was the last time he had so much fun?
With a shake of his head, throwing his growing mane about, he slid easily into the thick grass, used to moving in undetected, unlike Nissa who was trying to force her way through it.
Pink eyes narrowed in focus as he began searching for his prey, letting himself become absorbed in the hunt. Until his concentration was shattered by the loud shout of his name.
Huffing, he raised his head above the grass to search her out. " Nissa! Yer gonna scare it all off! Or get us killed... " He muttered the last part to himself, making sure nothing was coming to hunt THEM after the shouting.

"Alright, alright." She rolled her eyes. She wasn't really taking this very seriously. Well, she was, but not in the way that her companion was. Things would be different if she came face to face with a snake, but until then this was just another game.
She bounded through the grass, moving so loudly that it was very unlikely there'd be any snakes left in the area.
And then suddenly her paws met rock and she came face to face with a grey-rbown snake, coiled up on itself in the sun. It didn't move but it's large eyes stared at her.
"Cit, Cit! Oh my gosh! Cit, come here quick."
And at her voice the snake uncoiled itself, it hissed angrily for a moment, then seemed to decide it wasn't worth the risk. The creature slid itself off of the rock and back into the grass.
"It's getting away!" She cried in dismay.

It was only a moment before the male came charging past her, and leapt for the snake. He had been a bit worried when she'd called out, but he was relieved that it tried to run, rather than attacking her.
Large paws crushed down on the snake's head quickly, keeping it pinned in the dirt, and ignoring the tail that was lashing out against his side. As long as the head was pinned, they would be okay.
Looking up to her, he jerked his head for her to come closer. " C'mere Nissa. Ya' need ta use yer claws, an' slice it's head off. "
With both paws occupied, he didn't want to risk doing it himself. All it would take was one bite, and they could both die.

Nissa jumped to his side to aid him.
Some girls might have been squeamish, might have shuddered at the thought of killing something that was not usually prey. They might have refused or squealed in disgust.
But Nissa was not one of those girls and there was no hesitation.
Her claws slid through the snake's skin, severing the head and spurting blood. For a moment the serpent thrashed and then it went limp and Nissa, adrenaline pumping through her veins, looked up at her friend.
"Wowie, I kinda feel a bit bad. If it had tried to bite me then I wouldn't have cared about slicing it. But this one...ah well, it should have known better." She laughed with joy. "And look! We have our skin!"

He nods in agreement, removing his paws carefully from the skull, making sure it wouldn't have one last spurt of life left in it. " Don'cha worry 'bout it. It didn' die fer no reason. We're gonna make use 'a every bit of it's body. "
He gave her a slight smile, before gathering up the head and the body. " Le's get back ta th' feathers. That'd be th' best place round here ta be digging fer clay. "
That said, he clutched the head in his mouth carefully after slinging the body across his back, moving out for the small treed area they had first come from.

She nodded and obediantly followed him. This was possibly the first time in Nissa's life that she had actually listened to anyone. Usually she did her own thing and purposely rebelled just to get some sort of reaction.
She did it with her mother.
Her father too, if she ever got the chance.
And even though she cared about her siblings, she'd never in all her life do what they told her to do. She was rebellious in nature and always would be. But who knew. She'd found a kidnred spirit in Cit and he'd won her respect.
He was, totally awesome and most importantly of all, his tattoos rocked! He was someone she could admire, someone she could relate to. He liked to think outside of the box too, he liked to do things that no other male would.
Yes, she'd made a friend today.
So she followed him back to the feathers, thoroughly relieved to see them still there, all in one peace. "This is going to be great when it's done." She exclaimed. "Everyone is gonna be sooo envious!"

He smirked at that, helping her to gather all the feathers up, along with a few black ones for himself. No point in letting them go to waste. Especially not after she inspired him to make something interesting for himself as well.
" 'm sure they will be. 'specially yer siblin's, hmm? "
Siblings... Well, his would never know of what ever interesting thing he made. He left his family so long ago that it was doubtful any of them remembered him. Still, better for him that there was no one to attempt to boss him around. He couldn't even the slightest bit control his temper in situations like that, and was rather prone to lashing out.
Shaking his head quickly to toss away such thoughts, he dropped the snake down, and moved forward, sniffing at the ground. Really, near the watering hole was their best bet, but it would still be difficult to unearth the sticky material they wanted. Stopping at a lighter bit of soil, he jerked his head to motion her over. " Try diggin' here. "
He suggested, before moving on to pick out another spot.
Once he found one, he eagerly began digging into the ground.

"Sibs? Urr, maybe." She shrugged. "Either way, mum is gonna freak when she sees me. It's gonna be awesome!" And already she was imagining the scuffle, the arguments. Oh yes, there was going to be a row after this.
She followed him, nodding at his suggested spot, firstly checking on the feathers to make sure they were all okay. Then she moved over to his chosen spot and gave a small scratch at the ground with a paw.
"You really think this'll work, huh?" But she didn't wait for an answer. She put all her strength into it, focused on digging earth with her claws and suddenly great clods of dirt were flying up into the air behind her. Digging was actually...rather fun?
She shook her head as she felt clods landing on her head and then strengthened her stance, digging with frantic motions. Soon the ground started to feel moist and sure enough it began to change texture, became thicker and denser.
"Hoy!" She called. "Success!"

" Course it'll work! " He huffed out loudly over the sounds of digging, apparently annoyed at being doubted. It he said it would work, he would force it to work, one way on another.
At her call of success, he stopped his own digging, moving over quickly to join her. He smirked as he looked down at the dirty gray substance. " Perfect. That'll make us plenty 'a stuff ta hold what ya wan' t'gether. "
Nudging her back away from the hole, he reached down into it, claws pushing deep into the clay, before pulling with a low growl, and dragging a large chunk of the thick mineral out. " Thi' should do it, ya? " He murmured out, more to himself than Nissa. " Just gotta pu' it all t'gether, an' ya got yerself some fashion. "
