"How boring," Tia commented with a sense of brutal honesty. She sighed, diverting her gaze as if she had already lost interest. "I suppose it comes with your age, though," she added, flicking her tail. Old people...they were all the same, no matter how smart. How utterly dull. "All those gray hairs in your mane and all."

"As yes, it is so very tragic and I am so very cynical, old and decrepit. You must be one of those young holigans, here to torment this poor..." Eztil impersinated someone old and feeble, "ooooold lion, with my grey hairs and broken teeth." He flashed them, snapping his jaws shut right in front of her face as he leapt up beside her, "Yes... I'm very sad and pathetic. The things a young, versitile young thing like you could do to me..." He grinned, "It must pain you so to be around one so grotesque as myself."

"It pains me more then you know. You're boring me to death," She refused to look at him, stretching her small frame slightly before climbing a bit higher onto a much thinner branch that wobbled with her very slight weight. "And I'll just let time do that for me, since you're likely to keel over any second now."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 7:58 pm

"Well... it's certainly a good thing that I'll die soon, because honestly I don't know how much more I can bear of you." Eztil said with a slightly over-dramatizised sigh, as he looked up at her, "You're quite an intolerable lioness, but I suppose that's alright... you look like the type no one can stand to be around. I suppose you hang around old lions because we're the only ones who can stand you?"

"Playing the 'oh aren't you so friendless' card, mm? Let me tell you something old man, I have yet to find anyone entertaining enough for waste my time on. Friends are for the incompitant," She yawned, rubbing her paw lazily along the wood. She then drew one claw and pulled it slowly through the surface, making a long mark, "Hmmph. How long you can bear me? What could you do, I wonder, if you couldn't?"

Eztil chuckled, "Now wouldn't that be a test... and how long could you stand me, I wonder? It is rather pathetic, your going on as though you know every trick in the book. You don't know anything about how this game can be played by more than one against the world. I wonder... could you learn to play well with others? Enough to trick others into believing that you actually like me?"

Now... that was more directed to himself. So many cons could be done with two people... and the girl was good, he merely knew what to look for. Not as trustworthy as Coaxoch... oh no, but she was young... she could learn.. Hum interesting.

"You're making the wrong sort of suggestions. Really, lions of our talents don't have much in the way of pride, do we? Don't boast a challenge; boast an incentive. What would I possibly get from playing along with you, hmmm?" She didn't even respond to his insult on her knowledge; she didn't care. In this game it wasn't about being the obvious winner. And she wanted to know what she would get if she played it. Right now all he was showing her was words and she couldn't do much with that.

Oh, it was a lovely day when he met a lioness who could stand up like this. She was good, and he knew that if she was as smart as she seemed... things could go back to the way they used to be.

"Have you ever heard of the Hare Trick?" It was a rhetorical question, so Eztil continued, "It's very basic really. You find a group of hares... timid things that they are, and you pretend to be very sick, beg their assistance. They'll be reluctant at first. This trick can last for weeks. You gain their trust, always keeping an act together. Then, after a few weeks, when you have an entire group trusting you... you have dinner for the next month. Now, you can do this trick with one lion... but as time goes on, you go off with a hare you pretend to trust, they're never seen again... they get suspicious, it's all over. You add in a second lion. One who torments these hares, and the first lion steps up to defend them. Any time a hare goes missing, it's the other lion. You're well fed for months, maybe even a year, for one simple reason... there are two of you."

He sat back comfortably, "Another trick... someone has as fine jewlry as you have. You show them something else... something completely worthless, trash, and tell them it's ancient and blessed by the Gods, they'll never believe you... but they hear it from another lion as well, maybe in passing somewhere, they'll trade every scrap they have to get their hands on something useless. Why? Because there are two. Do you see what I mean?" He assumed she did, but that wasn't what he meant.

What he meant was, was she interested? Did she like the idea? Did she want to hear more?

"Perhaps," she yawned, "Talking in examples and metaphors benefits you elsewhere. However, you are wasting your words if you think you must draw out something so long as that to explain to me what you want. If you are not willing to simpify the offer, then you are not willing to make the offer at all." She flicked her tail. He could go on all he liked, but if he wanted a partnership he'd have to treat it like one, not like a trick. Besides, she liked throwing things back in his face, "Long stories are for the manipulated. I am not." She turned her head, eyes flashing, "Try again." If he couldn't be blunt, he couldn't be made a deal with. She knew how to trick others. She could not let herself fall for such games. Besides, she couldn't let him get away with any little slouch to begin with.

Eztil gave a small snort. So, she wasn't an idiot. She had made that point. Arrogant, to be sure... rather like himself when it came down to it... though as opposed to her, he loved long eloquent speeches. Clearly, this was not her style unless she was trying to weave around to get something she wanted. That was fine too. "Ah... you are a woman who enjoys those of small words." He inclined his head, "Then allow me to put it more simply... I would like a partner. I have had one in the past, and done more. Working on my own... is not as enjoyable. And I find it is more difficult to get everything you want. With two, it is both easier... and more challenging. Would you like to be my new partner?" She could really insult him all she liked. It was hard to make Eztil mad. In fact, it was even hard to irritate him.

"Only when dealing with something like this. If we're meant to be equals," she smiled at this idea, as if she didn't truly believe such a thing but it was the right thing to say, "Then all that flowery stuff...it's best saved for those you wish to take a meal from." She leaned back, tilting her head so that her dark bangs go in the way she she appeared to muse over the idea. "We can give it a try," she agreed slowly, "Since you seem so desperate." She twitched her ears, "But don't expect me to stick around when I don't feel like it."

Eztil couldn't help himself, he laughed. Now, who did this girl remind him of? What? You seriously expect me to play your little follower Eztil? Please... but since you need followers soooo badly, I guess I'll keep you afloat. You could never do anything without me. But don't expect me to play second in command. I'm nobody's lacky. Yes, yes this lioness did resemble Coaxoch quite a bit. Alright with him.

So he gave a sweeping nod, "You're arguements are... perfectly reasonable." A major difference between her and his sister. "I'll do my best to save my flowery launguage for those whose intelligence deserves it... but smart lions are so hard to come by. We need only work together for as long as we are both entertained, and benifiting from the partnership, does that seem fair?"

"It's an agreement," Tia yawned, growing bored of the conversation already. She rolled her shoulders in a shrug and passed him a narrow, sideways glance. It strikingly resembled that of a snake. "And fairness has nothing to do with it."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 08, 2008 5:36 pm

"No... no," Eztil grinned, his own sadistic grin mirroring the empty part of him where his soul probably should have been, "Fairness has absolutly nothing to do with it."
