Khane put down his gun, it was the second one, he had cleaned the first and now the second one. He grabbed the next weapon that came to hand. His sword. He drew the blade from the sheath and fished a whetstone out of his pocket, dipping it into a puddle that had formed under his clothing, he started to sharpen the blade. He was calm, this tasks he paid great attention to. His sharpening was rhythmic, almost musical as the blade rung out with every stroke of the stone, punctuated by silence as Khane re-wet the stone. He sang very softly as he did this.

"Galaxies glitter in the black night sky, Towards progress, towards death
From the stars we have come, and to the stars we will return."

Nana sat in her spot admiring his weaponry for some time. He seemed to take what he did with great care, and Nana felt a little jealous that she didn't have a passion to protect and nurture.

Maybe killing couldn't be called a passion, but if it was, this would be like watching an artist with his brushes.

She moved her long hair out of her face, and got up.

"If you don't mind, I'd still like to take up the offer of staying at your dorm for a bit. Last night was my first day here, so I'm a bit tired from all the events that took place. Since the visitor unkindly took the only bed here, I don't think I'll be able to rest. Not to mention that she's a stranger."

Lixini angrilly producted a storm, and a lightning bolt struck the door, shattering it. "Project...Leviation..." She panted, remembering something Bob said in the lounge. If only she knew what...then she spotted the weapons and remembered. "RUTHLESS KILLER!!!" she yelled, running out of the cabin, transforming, and staying high above it.

Khane barely payed the lightning bolt any notice. He finished sharpening his sword, and gave it a quick wipe with a shammy that he kept for polishing the blade. He sheathed it in its scabbard. The scabbard was black leather. Nothing ornate about it, nothing fancy. An assassin who had fancy weaponry was one of two things. Operating with the weaponry out of sentiment, or out of psychosis. He operated with his pistols out of the former... for the most part... a little of the latter tended to cling to him as a given.

"Of course you can stay at my dorm. In fact feel free to make your home there anytime you need. It's room 13.5 in the boys wing."

Nana didn't know whether she should be happy or not with the offer. She would love to stay there. Khane's presence was rather calming. However, she had an awfully bad habit of taking someone's kindness for granted, or letting herself be spoiled. Since she never had much money to spend on herself, she took anything that was given to her. She wanted to grab him, and run back to the dorms, but it was unlike for her to do as her feelings commanded. So instead, she just stood there, hypnotized by his blade, looking for words to say.

"Don't be rash to make this offer. Are you sure it's fine for me to intrude like that?"

"Hun, listen. I'm an international assassin. When I am here at Koi, I like to relax. Having a pretty woman waiting for me, sleeping in my bed, generally tend to do so. If your worried about money, don't. I've got more than I know what to do with, and well more than I can shake a stick at, for the love of god, all my clothing is Armani. The only thing I must ask you is not to go into my closet... and thats not because I'm hiding some great terrible secret in there, but because it's been converted into an escape pod, and you might activate it, and get launched some 60 odd leagues in a random direction, if the wind is strong enough."

To emphasize his point, Khane fished around in his coat pocket, pulling out three Platinum credit cards, and tossing them across the room into Nana's lap. These ones hadn't been deactivated... yet... but he could always get more.

Nana's eyes widened at the things she heard. It seemed to be too good to be true, but after that logic who was she to refuse such an offer? She picked up one of the credit cards and examined it, playing with the plastic money.

"Pretty woman, huh..." She put the card down and walked up to Khane.

"Will you take me?"

"Do I look like the kind of test-tube-baby to turn down a beautiful specimen such as yourself? Welcome to Casa de Khane. Now come curl up in my amrs. We're spending the night here, but only because I don't feel like bamfing all the way to my dorm room with another person, pumped full of booze. Plus my clothes are still wet."

He winked, putting his 'tools' aside and opening his arms.

Nana was pretty happy with the new friend she had made at Koi. She cuddled up in his arms, and smiled up at him.

"It's all fine. Besides, my clothes are damp as well."

Her tail slowly moved back and forth, slightly brushing by his leg each time, but then she remembered something. Her smile quickly melted off of her face, and a worried look took it's place.

"What's going to happen to the woman I met back at the bar?"

She wasn't convinced Khane wasn't her finacee, in fact, she had a pretty strong feeling she was. But after thinking that, she wasn't sure why he would shoot at her, like he had done earlier.

"Couldn't say... The claims of me being her fiancee are right out there though... no idea where those came from. But hey, I'm a guy, it's not my place to understand women, just my place to gawk and drool over them."

He chuckled lightly and wrapped his arms around his new little friend, one hand gently stroking her hair. He pulled the blanket across the room with his mind and wrapped it around both of them.

Lixini saw the gross scene, hearing every word. "Gross." She said to herself, flying off towards the lounge, hoping Bob was still there.

"How strange..."

Nana liked the fact that she was getting petted. She was trying hard not to purr, because she found it awfully embarrassing. Nana had always wanted to be more human, and get rid of her weird looking ears and tail. She felt the warmth radiating off of Khane and it made her feel safe. Her eyes began to close, slowly but surely.

"I'm going to doze off at this pace." She laughed a bit.

Khane grinned and kissed her on the cheek, bringing her head in close to him, stroking her hair like he had sharpened his sword. Slow, rythmic, continuous, and with the utmost care. He sang softly as he did too... but unlike before he did not sing an old battle hymn, he sang a lullaby.

"Sleep, love; forever sleep.
Your soul the night will keep.
Embrace the darkness deep.
Sleep, love; forever sleep."

Nana closed her weary eyes, and let herself get carried away by the gentle song that Khane sang to her. She melted in his arms, and eventually stopped moving her tale here and there.

"Good night..." She murmured, letting the lullaby completely take over her system. She wished to stay awake so she could speak more with him, but she was too weary to control herself. Soon Nana entered the realm of dreams, still laying in Khane's arms, safe and warm.

Khane smiled gently and kissed the little neko's head, then settled back into his chosen rest. The bricks had warmed beneath his body, and between the fire, the neko, and the blanket, he was toasty warm. Normally his sleep was riddled with nightmares, unending, mind bending, terrible nightmares... so he would have to sing himself to sleep tonight to avoid thrashing around and hurting his new pet.

"In bygone times and warmer climes
Your Marionettes played.
Now restless, silent in a box,
Your scattered limbs are splayed.
Come feel the tug of dancing strings.
Your dust responds on shivering wings.
The Master Puppeteer now sings!
Rise up from where you're laid.

The master calls you from the dark.
Your bones respond in haste.
Come act the part of living souls.
Their glory once more taste.
Connect again with warmer days,
And hearken to your former ways.
Out of the darkness you will raise
Up from your place of waste!

Now dance, you spirits gone before
The surging blood of old.
The sundered souls from times of yore
Play at a life once bold!
The Master heaves on strings of woe.
Torn from the dark your bones must go.
To act once more that all my know
The Master's take is told!"

Khane yawned out the last line, drifting into sleep as he held the neko like a teddy.
