A black hoof stomped into the ground sending a small cloud of dust up around Scarlet's blood red foreleg. "No...you're wrong!" She blinked a little bit surprised at her own sudden outburst. She had never raised her voice at anyone before. "I...I'm sorry..." She said bowing her head to stare at the ground apologetically.
It was curious. She didn't feel that ghostly hand on her mind. No, that wasn't it. She could still feel it there but it wasn't pulling her mind from her body. It was acting like she was alone even though she wasn't.
Then, almost as though she were reading from a book, she spoke again. "You should no better. Words never do any good, pain burns into your mind and you'll remember it. Words fade with memory. Any scars will remain on you forever..."

Ears perked and eyes fluttered in reaction to her outburst. Yiska took a few steps back, a bit nervous. Apparently he had said the wrong thing....had he? It didn't seem wrong to him.
Now he was really confused!
Biting at his bottom lip for a moment, he listened to her. She seemed so scripted when she spoke. Like the words weren't her own. "But....why would anyone want to leave scars of pain on you? I don't think you could do anything bad to warrant such treatment."

At his question she fell silent. The ghostly presence of her defense settling on her wrapping her mind to keep it safe once again. It was something that she shouldn't answer and so she wouldn't be able to. All she could hear suddenly were the echoes of choice words, what she had said just moments before no longer existed. "Scars? Treatment?"
Her brown eyes narrowed in confusion. She didn't understand what was going on. What treatment and what scars? Were those things normally on this stallions mind? He seemed more kind then that.

She seemed to go blank all of a sudden. Like a writing slate neatly washed of all its markings. Yiska just...didn't understand. And yet it made him all the more curious.
"Uh...." Perhaps it might of been time for a change of subject. His mind searched for something. Something. Anything to break the thickness of the air right now. "These winter months sure have been trying haven't they? Gotten hard to find food and some fresh water. But man I can't wait till spring. Everything will just be so alive and fresh. Just beautiful." The stallion glanced about with his eyes. Keeping his head stationary as they swept over the land scape.
Hopefully this subject would be more fitting. He hoped.

Scarlet lifted her head silently and listened to his questions relieved to feel her mind working correctly again. Weather was a good subject. It was a safe subject. There was no threat in weather like there was in the past.
"Have they?" She asked her eyes mimicking the stallions for no reason at all. "I hadn't noticed...Dark and miss Luna always bring me whatever I need..." She smiled slightly in what would almost pass as apologetic. Her food and water was pretty much always delivered to her as long as she stayed close to Mushyn's teepee. While the blind human girl wasn't very useful at gathering food and drink she had tools for carrying things on her back that were easily made to fit around a soquili's neck.

"Ah. Well thats good then. Means you don't have to go digging for any scraps of good. Some Soquili don't have it quite like that, but its nice if you do." He thought about it for a moment. It would be nice if someone just brought him food all the time and him not having to worry about when his next meal would be till spring.

Scarlet's mouth opened a bit like she was about to say something but then she paused. Was it her place to ask? She had been told every day since she was born to be kind to others. Everyone had told her that and it was a point that she always lived by it was something that even her defense hadn't stopped. Did this count as just being nice though? She thought so.
"If you'd like..."She started still sounding a little unusual due to her mind still being slightly clouded. "My human's teepee is not far from here. There's a lot of food there, and water, it's warm too. No one would mind if you wanted to stay for a bit, it's been...very empty there...very..." A barely audible sigh left her mouth as her thoughts dwelled on the recently empty teepee. It was only Mushyn, Lunathiel, Ayden and herself most days. Dark only came once every few days and compared to the 7 that used to live there it felt, very lonely.
