At first I wasnt confidant in it but after meeting Michelle I cant wait for the release. And patterns OAO I'm always in the need of more patterns.

Where did you meet her?

We were at the same meet up.
Ah, I see.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The English G&L Bible, I can't imagine it coming out good. They're supposed to be having a cosplay section in the book as far as we've heard from the details. Besides that, Michelle Nyugen is like, the ONLY person with some actual sense about Lolita compared to all these other articles from TP that we've read.
and she's pretty much into making sure that only people who are her friends are in it. so :/ :/ :/ :/
Wow~! The magazine looks pretty promising! I really can't wait to see a full issue. <3
I'm looking forward to seeing it as well. I don't think we should expect it to be on the same level as the Japanese mooks, but I also don't think we should be too pessimistic about it right now. Assuming that it's going to be super mega awesome is not such a good idea because people will be disappointed. Tokyopop IS a well established company, as was mentioned earlier. So we must also not assume that Ms. Nguyen is placing her own personal preferences in her work. Her preference will probably show through because of what she believes to be the best for the magazine. But if this was a bad thing, she would be fired. She does not have enough leverage to do such a thing.
So let's just happily wait until it comes out and judge then. 4laugh
I think its great that they are comming with a translated version. Now i can look at them without guessing what each character means <3
Also I realized that the girls in the back cover of the books arnt that skinny like most people assume lolitas are. So im glad they show that slightly bigger girls can wear lolita too.
Unfortunatly ive seen some lolita donts for plus size women.
Its how you wear it not what you wear.
Im not plus size but my mom is big and so is my brother and thats what they tell me all the time smile
Tokyopop is poorly organized when it comes to that specific project.
I'm not too hopeful about this English version. Tokyopop turn everything they touch to utter crud.
This makes me more hopeful that it won't be a complete disaster. I was disappointed when Tokyopop first acquired it because usually their products are of poor quality and I just dislike Tokyopop. It doesn't seem too bad now. I especially love the back cover. <3
i'd like to be VERY excited about this..
but i dont think i should get my hopes up for this..
doubt it'll be as good as the original..
but yknow.. what else have we 'non-japanese understanding' people got?
so i'll jsut put my faith in tokyopop and hope they do a better job than i expect (:
Im so excited! I spend a mint importing the mag once a year in a bundle just so i can pour over all the gorgeous pictures, get ideas for my own outfits and...the patterns! heart
I must say...I didn't have a whole lot of faith in this project, based on what I'd read, but this gives me a little hope. I doubt it will hold a candle to the original Japanese version, but it looks liveable, based on what's here.
I think I'll pick up the first issue, and go from there.
Yeah I think it's harsh to judge now, you need to take it with a pinch of salt. Once these guys have more sponsers and interest shown, it will get better!
Well as it has people like me working with them it wont go so down hill (;
It's not like everyones trying their hardest to make this good. It has such high expectations, and it wont do well if people keep on shooting it down. People need to stop being stubborn and negative and just wait for it to come out before they go insulting the team that is working very hard on this to make it happen...for YOU.
I talk to Michelle about it as much as possible and it seems that shes trying so hard to keep everyone happy, even the elitists...which is a tall order for a company which already has a reputation.
If you think it's going to be bad and such then ignore it and go back to looking at the Japanese mooks, no ones forcing you to take an interest.
