A sharply dressed individual made his way down the boardwalk as he took in all the holiday decorations and festivities. The lights glittered and sparkled like stars, while carolers sanged in unions of Christ's birth. Children were exceptionally cheerful this time of the year, expecting many presents for their good behavior all-year round. Thanatos smiled warmly at the scene around him, not normally a warm individual he felt it was a better year this time around because he had someone to actually shop for.
As he looked into the various shops he smiled even more, noting all the decorations strewn about. He already knew what and where to acquire the gift for his significant other but felt it best to actually enjoy himself away from the other. As he did stroll around he noticed a caroler singing, she had a very pretty voice and so he stood to listen for a while before moving on.
As he did a little window shopping, he noticed a young girl pressed against the glass of a particular store. Her speech obviously of another language but her actions were in a sense... cute. Stepping up beside her, Xan looked from the girl to the object that had caught her attention before speaking. "It is quite pretty isn't it?" he questioned conversationally, hoping she was fluent in other languages. If not it would make for a most entertaining evening.

((thanks Kuu~!))
Jae jumped up and let out a squeaky gasp of surprise as a man suddenly started talking to her. Turning rather surprised, she looked at the man's face with wide goldfish eyes for a few seconds.
"Ah! Ah....yes, it's very pretty.....but, I don't think my friend would like it." she said, with a rather sheepish grin on her face.
Blushing a bit with embarrassment, she straightened up her appearance a little bit. It was a little surprising, having someone talk to her on the street. Several creepy scenarios ran through her head at the moment, but she knew they couldn't be possible.
"I'm sorry, have we met before?" she said, with almost flawless English.
Had he overheard her muttering out loud in Korean? Possible, yes. That was a bad habit she had, a very bad one indeed.... But one she couldn't be bothered to fix nonetheless. Regardless, she noted his appearance, a curious glint in her eyes at the rather well-dressed man in front of her.

He frowned slightly at her first response, wondering what kind of friend wouldn't find something such as this, pretty. He didn't bother inquiring instead focusing more on her question. "I'm afraid not, my dear." He said calmly, turning to look at his reflection in the window. He situated his silver mane, flipping it over his shoulder as he picked at some lint on his suit.
Thanatos then gave her a side long glance noticing her jitters and figured it quite strange to suddenly pop up with conversation. "I apologize if I am bothering you. It just seemed like too good an opportunity to pass up a pretty lady window shopping alone." He was at his usual flirtatous banter but over the year it had been considerably subdued, thanks to a certain someone in his life.
"I'm doing some shopping for my 'pup' and kid sister, if you would like to tag along, I don't see any problem. It's the holidays and no one should spend it shopping alone. That is of course if I'm not being too forward?" He asked with a soft glint to his mint green eyes.

The caroler took a moment as the last notes of her song echoed off into the distance. There was just something about Christmas and the songs that came with it that made Ebony pause and slow down in her actions. Things always seemed clearer this time of year, but perhaps that was just the eggnog talking.
Those metallic eyes looked upon the audience softly, "While the band and choir take a break, I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone what we're really singing for tonight. The needy children of Gaia. With your donations we'll be able to make it a very Merry Christmas for those who would otherwise have none. But you can still do more. Many of these children have no families or a home to call their own. Won't you open your arms and give the gift of love this season? If you are interested in adopting or fostering a child, please speak to the attendants at the tent next to the stage."
She took a quick look over her shoulder to the band and choir. The guy playing the keyboard gave a thumbs up to her. "And now, we'd like to get things back up to beat with a little jingle. Jingle Bell Rock that is." And with that, Ebony replaced her hood and joined the ranks of her fellow carolers once more as the upbeat melody filled the air.

Her usual melodic giggle filled the air as the coat-man mentioned the window shopping bit. Pulling down her headphones and clicking her mp3 player off (in her defense, it is rather easy to hear through piano music), she gave him a cheerful nod.
"If it's alright with you, I'd like to tag along."
Readjusting her scarf, she turned to face him fully and held out her (bare) hand. "Name's Jae. And you?"
Well! She was rather happy to have bumped into him. It would probably help to have guy's opinion for her brother's present! Also....she really needed a pair of gloves for herself! Her hands didn't take so well to the cold.

Thanatos chuckled softly at the young lady, she was adorable in her own right. "I would love for you to join me or I might not have asked." He held out his hand to take her's and place it within the crook of his arm, in hopes of escorting her around.
Clearning his throat he proceeded to introduce himself, "I am Thanatos Wolverick, just call me Xan, it makes for easier conversation." Placing a hand out in the direction he was headed, "M'lady..." he smiled and began to walk taking in all the festivities around them. He looked into various stores but nothing caught his attention. Instead his attention fell on Jae. "So tell me, are you shopping for anyone?" Xan asked, hoping to break the silence between them as they went.

It wasn't long before the carollers and the band decided to close up shop for the night. Many of them had families to get home to, others still had shopping to do before the big day. Ebony...not so much.
"Ebony! Come on! We're going for some coffee. Why don't you join us?" Came the call of an overly eager and friendly female caroller. Had it been another person, another life, Ebony may have well excepted the invitation. Yet, she had only given her time for charity and wasn't looking for anymore social holiday mishaps on her part. She merely gave a weak smile and shook her amethyst colored head a simple, silent 'no thank you.' The other seemed crushed, but only for a moment before shrugging as her group dragged her off for some holiday fun.
Ebony sighed, pulling her red cloak closer to her chest. She slowly began to wander the avenue alone, slated eyes wearily looking into the brightly decorated shop windows. She didn't really like too many crowds, so when a display became too much to bare with children pressing their tiny faces against the cold panes, Ebony would move on. To where? There was no one to hurry home to nor was there anyone to buy gifts for as she made her descent into the Christmas crowds.

Giggles exuded forth as Xan began to escort around to various stores. He was a very charming man, probably married, so no need to worry.
"Ah! I'm shopping for family, my older brother in particular....." she sighed. It was a sadly true fact, as JaeJoong was born 7 minutes before she was. But then again, they usually acted like it was no big deal.
"You shopping for anyone, Xan?' If you got any particular lady in mind, I might be able to help, free service!" she joked.
The dark street certainly seemed to be a little more pleasant now that she had found company.

Xan had to hold back a laugh at her offer. Lady friend? No such luck for him but he managed to keep a stoic outter appearance as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Yes I am shopping for someone by the by. However, she might not like the idea of someone helping me shop..." He couldn't help the slight chuckle that escaped as the inside joke remained his alone to enjoy. "Let's just continue until something catches my eye. Please let me know if you find something as well. Until then, tell me a bit about your brother."
