Chikotae listened as the mare spoke about her humans. His head turned and his ears perked when she said they restrained a mare once that was pregnant. "They what? Concern or no they had no right to restrict her freedom" He seethed with a bitter anger. "Did they even stop to think her mate would miss her and be worried? I fail to see how or why she would harm her own foals." He snorted and stomped a hoof angrily. Stupid two leggers and their games or tricks.
Her next question was one he didn't really have to think about, although no one had actually ever asked him before. "Because she ripped his heart out and hurt him. He went through much pain and darkness before he found his new mate. " The stallion had the memories flash back, " She was with another stallion! and bore his foals...forcing Delano the pain to look upon them each day and be reminded every day of her betrayl...and then, after he forgave her and tried to work it out, but in th end after all that effort..she left him for that dark stallion she had betrayed him with....." His face and his eyes were cold as he spoke and hatred flashed in his dark eyes. "selfish unloyal mare she is. Good for nothing she is. "
But her comments threw him off guard and his eyes widened a moment before he tried to replace it with a calm composure. "And you think some mare would just fall in love with me? I highly doubt any mare would put up with me much less get past the barriers I hold deep inside me...I have learned to trust no one......" He looked at her, almost worried that his statement was going to hurt her feelings. "I trust no one to be close to me or into my heart. I might be alone but at least I'll never have my heart or trust broken that way. " He looked at the ground. She had hit a nerve on that one. A part of him desparately sought to be loved and wanted, but he fought it down and kept it locked and hidden away.
He gave her a nod in agreement. "Yes grass is good as is the red apples. I look forward to the warmer weather after being gone in the mountains for so long. " Isolation was lonely, so the company was appreciated, even if he would not admit it. The cold had been his company for so long, so many chilly nights he had spent alone.

"You speak of her with such anger..." She said softly, breath catching in her chest for a moment. She could almost feel the hurt that he radiated; the anger and the pain. She found herself wishing, oddly enough, that she could do something to help him. Anything.
"Your trust may never be broken... But you will never make friends." She took an uncertain step towards the stallion, eyes closed as she gently brushed her cheek against his neck, just as she would have done to her sister... Or any of her other friends. She wanted to comfort this strange, pained stallion, never mind that the simple touch might just anger him. "You sound... Like you could use a friend. Maybe that is where you should start. I... Will be your friend if you want me to?" He reminded her so much of another friend that she had...
