Luna blinked before carefully lowering the boots back to the ground. Hopefully she'd find them there later.
She took his hand and carefully waddled out onto the ice. She instantly tightened her grip and attempted to keep upright as her foot touched the ice and promptly went out from under her. "EEEEPP!!!" Hopefully Alair would managed to keep them both from falling.
Because, well...
Falling No Fun! eek

Alair hadn't really been expecting Luna to fall on the first step, and hadn't had a very sturdy stance. For a moment though, it looked like he was able to save her but the two slowly began to tumble towards the ice.
Alair let out a yelp as he lost his balance, falling solidly onto his side next to Luna. Sitting up he rubbed at it gingerly. "Oh well, Next time try not to step down. Push out."

Luna also yelped as she landed on her rear. Owww... Sore tailbone... She tried to discreetly rub it while she managed a wavery grin at Alair. "Push out. Don't step down. Got it. Now how do I get back up?" That had done now. Now she was determined to learn how to skate. If only because she was causing Alair so much trouble so soon and didn't want it to be for nothing.
((Oiy vey. I forsee a very, very long PD... ._.; Unless Luna does manage to catch on quickly...))

"Yup!" He agreed with her repetition of his words before hopping back up. "Well, you kneel and use me like a wall or something. I won't fall again," he promised as he stood up.
Firmly Alair planted his feet on the ice. Holding out his hands to Luna to use he suggested, "Try kneeling than standing so that your foot is up and down.."

It took some amount of struggling before Luna managed to acquire the position Alair had described. One knee in the air, the other on the ground. Kinda like a knight kneeling to tapped with a sword. She gripped his hands again with her own and tried to pull herself up while making sure she didn't drag them both down again.

With a tug and a few *very* close calls, Luna was up and standing...sort of. With a particularly wicked grin, Alair began to walk towards the center of the pond, dragging Luna with him.
"Push, don't lift your feet up much," he muttered to her.

Luna soon found herself upright... more or less. She wobbled as she nearly went down again but she didn't even get a chance to rebalance before Alair was dragging her to the center of the pond. Luna belatedly tried to follow, the skates going CLICK, CLICK, CLICK as she half-lifted, half-pushed with her feet as she tried to move.
Really, the only reason she was going anywhere was because Alair was dragging her. The only thing she was really doing was not falling down.
Of course, stopping was going to fun. Alair failed to mention how one stopped in skates.

"Good, good! Less bending though! Try to keep your knees fairly straight." Alair grinned. "See! You're skating." Alair began to slow down and turn her slightly as they reached the center of the ice. "I never can really stop well on my own, so I just spin in place until I slow down," he confided with another grin.

Luna tried to bend her knees less like Alair said, and the clacking slowed down. She wobbled as she tried to get used to this method, but managed to stay standing. She wobbled worse, however, when Alair began to turn her. Her feet just wouldn't cooperate, wanting to keep going straight, and the more she turned, the more her legs got tangled and the worse she wobbled...

Alair kept trying to turn her and the girl kept going and down the two of them went once again.
This time Alair picked himself up slowly, shaking his head. "Uh... Right... No turning. But you were getting the straight thing pretty good!" He sat on the ice for a moment, before gingerly getting up.
"Ready to try again?" he asked.

Luna groaned as she picked herself up off the freezing cold ice again. Brrrrr...
At least Alair had a point about her getting the whole "going straight" thing down pretty good. Her feet nearly went out from under her several times before she managed to get upright once more. "Uh, sure." she managed, distracted. She was concentrating more on not falling again then talking. It was hard, since her feet kept sliding first forward, then back again as she tried to keep her body above her feet.
Perhaps if she could take hold of Alair's hand again for support?

There was no such luck as Alair ran off a few steps. No more than three or four, but it was as far as the other side of the pond for someone new on skates.
"Try skating towards me! You can do it, you skated all the way out here didn't you?" came the encouragements. The healer kid crossed his fingers hopefully. He knew Luna could do it, with luck, but it could be done!
"C'mon!"

O_O; *whimper*
Luna's face fell as Alair took a few steps from her, but she started to wobble in his direction. Push, push, push... She somehow overbalanced and fell face first onto the ice as momentum kept her sliding towards Alair. She only stopped when her shoulders hit his toes. "... Oof..." she managed.

Alair winced as Luna nose-dived into the ice and came sliding towards him. Quick as he could the boy squatted and tried to haul Luna up by the armpits. "Are you okay?" he asked anxiously, though the effort probably wasn't doing either of them any good.
