Kisala didn't notice the girl coming towards them-- she was having too much fun watching August giggle over the swing. She enjoyed swinging, of course-- it was as close to flying as she was likely to get anytime soon-- but not nearly so much as he seemed to be enjoying it. Maybe it was just because he was so young?
The girl pushed him a bit more, though not higher-- judging by his death grip on the chains he probably couldn't take it if she pushed him higher, "Ya feel like you could be a bird, right? Just fly off into the sunset!"

August nodded, the gesture probably lost in all the swinging. "Yuh huh," he added for clarity. He felt his sister approach and turned toward her, the smile still on his face.
"Hey," Brownie said, hopefully loud enough to attract Kisala's attention as well. "Time to go, kid." She spared a smile for the other girl and surprisingly, it was a warm, sincere one. She had thought August too weird to make friends, and part of her was happy she had been wrong. "I'm Brownie. You got a phone? I think he would really like hanging out with you again."

Kisala looked a little disappointed when the woman came over to get August. She let the swing slow down 'till it stopped, then bowed the way her momma'd taught her, "I dunno if we got a phone. I never used one before," she said, "But we live in the Temple off Applewood Creek, so's you could come by sometime and we can play."
