The pica tilted his head to one side and sized up Tuft, who seemed to be challenging him. Of course the pica could not back down from a challenge. The strange companion was apt to taking the parus up on it and propmptly began releasing a string of other immitations. First was something that sounded like the hiss of a serpe or waral, the second was a string of trills from a native songbird, third was the hoot that Fjord had made earlier, and fourth was the jingle of Tousled's trinkets. His dark and beady eyes seemed to laugh merrily at the game and parus.

Fjord began to preen his chestfeathers anxiously. Birch's friend seemed nervous, which made him feel nervous himself. He feard slipping up, but doubted that Tousled would be one to pull the type card over him.

Tousled took some time, bustling about inside her tree - caught up in the lovely surge of creativity, she couldn't help getting distracted as she dropped off the painted parus near her "treasury" for some plucking later. Running her eyes and will over the different items laid out and somewhat organized there, she delighted in the different images and colour combinations that came into the forefront of her mind.

She would need that, oh, and some of those... And that colour would definitely look lovely... she hastily put a few things aside, close to the parus, and had to tear herself away from the crafting in order to go get Fjord the berries she had promised him.

Tuft listened intently to the Pica, and seemed to give the larger bird a devious little squint when he was done. Then the painted little parus puffed out his chest, unfolded his wings and retorted by repeating all the sounds that Feather had just sung - only being a little off on Fjord's hoot and the reptilian hiss - and added something that almost sounded like bard bells, and ...another woodpecker.

Despite his slight misses, the little bird looked quite pleased with himself.
