Hazel watched as Eidolin settled into place, pondering how the chirops would take being hauled up on her back. Well they could always fly on their own if they got uncomfortable. A glance at Liam and she caught his nod. Indeed, the sooner they started the better. Her talons hooked around the long strap and she tugged it a few times for good measure. Bo good if it slipped out of her hold once they got into the air. Deciding it was ready, she nodded reply to Liam and flared her wings, pumping them and leaping from the ground, hoping that Liam would rise in sync with her so there wouldn't be any jolting getting into the air. "Here we go...hold on now, little one!"

Eidy nestled herself into the harness, her chirops still clinging to her back. She gulped, she was nervous, but she trusted the older sentinels whole heartedly, they had to know what they were doing. Who knew, maybe she could actually fly all the way back to her hollow from here after she was hoisted upwards!
It made her wriggled slightly with anticipation.
She wanted to get better at flying, she she and her chirops could play, so she could find other chirops to befriend as well!
"I'm ready," she said with a nod, pulling her wings close to herself.
She was ready.

Liam followed Hazel's lead, lifting the fledgling smoothly into the air. Hoping that the harness would hold, he lifted off, aiming for the nearest large branch. He figured it would easily hold two adults, a fledgling, and a pair of Chirops.

Hazel spotted the branch Liam was aiming for and shifted midair to head that way. "At least you're not too heavy, Eidolin." She overshot the branch, planning on hovering and then lowering the fledgling down onto it before landing herself. "Not too bad a job, mm?" She smiled around at Liam, glad to be up in the trees again.

Eidolin hopped from the harness and perched herself on the branch, talons gripping it with ease, she looked down and gulped. She didn't like the ground, now at all. Peering upwards she could see the canopy of overlying branches, wondered if she'd be able to make it back from here. But she wasn't that great at flying, she couldn't fly straight, and had a awful habit of swerving into branches nearby.
"Thank you," she said fluffing up her feathers, Valen and Mika sliding off from her back to flutter up and perch upside down on a branch above them.
Should she try?
"Could both of you ummm....follow me? Just in case..." she asked softly, she was embarrassed she couldn't fly well yet, but, at least someone would be with her to make sure she got back to the hollow.

Liam smiled, relieved. He was safe in the trees, as was young Eidolin. "Of course. You're welcome to stay in my nest for a bit; if you like, I'll even work with you on your flying." Turning to Hazel, he nodded. "It went beautifully. You're welcome to come with me, if you'd like. My Thorn's about ready to start learning how to fly himself."

Hazel nodded cheerily to the fledgling. She'd gladly follow, but at Liam's offer she thought better of it.
"It might be best if you did come with us, Eidolin. We got you back to the trees this time, but I'm not sure it would go so well a second time. Unless you think you really would make it this time. Either way, your choice."
She hopped and spun on the branch to face Liam. She fluffed up at the mention of Thorn, whom she remembered fondly as a tiny little ball of poofy feathers.
"That time already? My they do grow fast. It is going to be winter soon though..." She paused to look up and find the sunlight's spot in the leaves above. "I'm not in any hurry, and you know how I love Thorn. A visit would be lovely."

Liam beamed. "It's settled, then! We'll all flap back up to my nest for a visit, and perhaps a snack!" He nudged the fledgling gently with a wing. He pointed at a tree a short distance away with his pinions. "Do you see that clump of sticks up there? That's the bottom of my nest. We'll go slowly, and fly below you, so that if you do fall, we can snag you before anything happens."

((Oh my gosh guys >> feel free to brick me for taking so long <3))
Eidolin nodded and watched them both, fluffed her feathers a bit and took a breath. It wasn't that far...she could, probably make it. She gulped though, and moved herself a little from where she was perched, and looked to both older sentinels for a bit of luck unspoken.
You can do this...
Valen and Mica were flitting through the canopy overhead, and she got enough courage to try, and hopped into the air, and tried her hardest to keep herself from falling again.
She tried her hardest, and it was obvious in her movement, but soon enough her talons rested on the bunch of sticks and then hopped up and down, though softly not to awake this 'Thorn', "I did it!" she said with excitement, but in a whisper.
She COULD do it.

((No probs! We all get sidetracked; however, for continuity's sake, this is before the Longest Night and before Thorn's will-testing. He's just turned into a fledgling.)) Liam clacked his beak and hooted softly. "You did it, Eidolin! You got it! Now, just climb up the side a bit, and you'll be right where you need to be for a stable landing." Looking up, he noticed a pair of huge eyes peering over the side of the nest. "And it appears Thorn's woken himself up. Ah well, more the merrier!" He swooped over to the fledgling, careful not to knock her off-balance, yet positioning himself to catch her if she fell. "You're going to be a top-rate flyer in no time at all!"

((Hazel and Liam are moving on with this. I don't think that Eidy is being godmoded, 'cos she's already in the Minder tree, and there are other Minders who live in the Enclave. If dragon comes back, we'll figure something out.))
Once Eidolin had made it into the tree, Liam called for another Minder to help her out. It had been a while since he'd seen his friend last, and he wouldn't mind spending some time with her. At all. As the other Minder helped Eidolin, Liam turned to Hazel. "Glad the ground time's over with! Long time, no see, eh Hazel?" He smiled widely at her. "I've missed you! You spend too much time out in the sticks! How's the Ranger business going? I hope well, to keep you away so long!"

Hazel was preening herself when Liam turned back her way. She quickly finished and smiled,"The ground is better than the above, and definately the open, if you ask me. Still, it's best up here." She stepped closer, nibbling Liam's neck-feathers in a friendly way. "Business is alright, it's been quiet as usual. How about you? Seems your enclavehas grown since I was last here...Noctus, when was I last here? It feels like ages.." She looked around, nostalgia plain in her eyes. "Is our old tree still in use? I bet you've got a right little flock of your own around somewhere too, right?"

"Aye, it's definitely grown. Grand total of five minders, all Wildtype men like me. I have no idea how that happened!" Liam grinned, accepting the preening and returning it on the top of his shorter friend's head. "Lemme see... you were last here... Hmm... I think a good three seasons ago, back when it was just me and a few fluffs. And if by flock you mean family, well, I've still got Roth, who's back up the tree watching my sleeping son. Well, not my son. He's the son of some of my father's friends, and currently the only hatchling here. Whole bunch of fledgies, though! They're mostly out at lessons. But I've really gotten attached to the little guy. He lives with me, and pretty much ignores the other Minders. They don't mind him too much, though," he continued, inwardly wincing at the pun. "You'd like him. Cute little thing, and Deep Woods, like you. His name's Thorn."

Hazel nodded appreciatively at Liam's reports. She'd always suspected he'd do well. "Are they really all Wildtype males? That's pretty funny." Her eartufts bobbed at the mention of a son, then returned to their normal position. "Thorn, hmm? He sounds like a cute little fellow, like his minder." She joked, nudging Liam a bit. She had missed the male, her childhood companion. She loved her job, but sometimes she wished she could stay closer to home more often.
